Nothing wrong with Tag Heuer. Racing heritage, Swiss, Steve McQueen, Mario Andretti, Tiger Woods all love(d) theirs. I have a beautiful Tag. Love it. Good luck pal, nice one.
We’re on a similar page Peter! I’ve had this in mind for a few years. But guess what? Today I bought a Steve McQueen icon watch. Not the Monaco, but the Hanhart 417 ES 1954 tribute!😱🤣 It’s actually as close to the original Steve wore in East Germany during his bike racing days! Anyway brother enjoy your Monaco!😎 👏🏻
Love the video. I’m a proud owner of a Caliber 11 which was my first luxury watch. Since then I’ve now bought a Tag Monza 40th Anniversary and would love you to do a video about it as it doesn’t seem to have much coverage online. Keep up the amazing videos.
Le Mans is my favorite movie ever ,if I could afford it I'd have one of these also. Love your attitude about what you buy, get what YOU want ! , Don't worry about what anyone else thinks, let them buy their own watch.
Peter, just love your attitude.....'buying watches that make you happy, wearing them because you enjoy wearing them!'....absolutely great attitude......enjoy your watches
I think the caliber 11 is the best by far. That’s the one I’d go for if I decided to get another Tag Heuer. I think it is more authentic to the movie. It doesn’t have the word Tag on it either, just Heuer. A tad overpriced around £5k. More expensive than an OP. On a positive note, it’s an icon, instantly recognisable, and I have toyed for a while pulling the trigger on this one…
Very nice, the Monaco always strikes me as one of those watches that just gets noticed, without needing shout. I love watches like that and would love to have one my collection! 👍
Hello Peter, I really enjoy your view on watches. Also, when I opened this video I was set aback that it is a Monaco. I have had my eye on this watch for about two years. You are so correct about you wear your watches that suit you. In the beginning I made the mistake of purchasing 'popular'and they sat in my watchbox or I flipped them for a loss. No more, I buy what I like, the thing that has held me back is that I have a self imposed limit on what I will spend on a single watch but I will purchase a Monaco soon any way. In the last few months my purchases have been a Longines big eye, a Tissot prx auto and a seiko 1964 limited. I have no regrets but I could have purchased the Monaco instead. Lastly, the Monaco is a little untraditional but at the same time very handsome and it has aged very will. Thank you so much for your reviews and insight.
The icon status and mystique of the Monaco grabbed my attention in the earlier days of my collecting journey. While I eventually realized this would not be a watch for me, I still find this as a watch to be appreciated for its story. That's one part of this hobby I really enjoy, that you don't have to own every watch to enjoy every story. It would be kind of boring if everyone had the same story to tell over and over again. What's more, you do tell your story well, Pete! Always enjoy watching 🙂
Nice little video Peter. I have the Cal 11 Monaco. Love it for the same reasons that you do. I just had it serviced by TAG and am very happy; it's a timeless piece.
I agree totally, buy what you like. I just picked up my purple dial Monaco last week. Feels more dressy than my previous gulf edition which I sold and immediately regretted.
Congrats on your new bad boy. I respect a lot how you share the watch collecting passion 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Bravo! Things are to create nice memories! Cheers mate!
Always loved this watch and one of the only Heuer's I'd buy. You made a very nice pick-up. Also, LeMans is a great flick. Wonderful racing movie, up there with Rush, 1, and Ford vs Ferrari as the great race flicks.
I bought mine, which is by far the most expensive watch in my small collection, simply because this watch is unique. No other model looks like the Monaco, and especially the one with the crown on the left. It is such a pleasure to simply look at it, and to wear it.
A brilliant personal watch pick! I've no qualms in purchasing a TAG Heuer. 1) One was my first entry level luxury purchase many many years ago. Loved that watch. Too bad I somehow lost it. 2) They have a lot of cool models. Primarily I like their chronographs, been a fan of the Autavia and Carrera lines. But, I have to admit I have been finding their newer Aquaracers pretty enticing, as well.
@@PeterKotsa yeah... I had that for over 12 years. And, the thing was it was lost inside the house?! We had just moved in and did a lot of painting and epoxy flooring in the garage early on. I feel I may have took it off during the work and somehow got lost in the refuse and tossed out. I've looked into buying a used one of the exact same model. But, the price they are at, even for a quartz, didn't seem worth it.. and most I've found on eBay seem to be fairly beaten up examples. Anyways... Better to have loved and lost than to never to have loved at all, I suppose, right? Look forward to your next video.
The Monaco, in the blue dial is also have on my 'got to get' list. It's iconic, stylis and timeless. And your Omega is awsome, and i like the bracelet. Coll watches, and keep 'em comming. 🙂
Isn’t this the reason why we‘re spending thousands of € on wrist watches - because it these mechanical wonders on the wrist just makes us happy? Great video and BTW I love my Tag Heuer, too 👍
100% agree with everything you said Peter. I’ve always wanted to own one of these because of Steve McQueen and the movie. I heard a story about him and his first motorcycle. He bought an Indian ( I believe it was a Scout) cycle and his girlfriend didn’t like it. Instead of selling the motorcycle he broke up with her now that IMO is a smart man.
Love your content and your perspective. Hate the fact that thanks to you, I’m now obsessed with the Omega’brickroad’ and cannot find a good example to purchase :-(. Regardless, keep up the good work Peter!
Nice addition to your collection, Pete! Good on you!! I have always had a fascination with this watch and would love to put one in my collection some day.
Cool looking watch! I like your attitude about buying what makes you happy! I am a huge Steve McQueen fan. The man was a good driver and racer. I own a 2019 mustang bullitt. A new copy of his 68 bullitt. Nice watch. I am kind of still thinking about that Omega you found Keep up the great reviews!
I'm jealous. At this time TVs were only just becoming popular. Amazing to think now that only by the late 60s were they common place in the home and I read the square case designs from many watch brands were cashing in on their popularity. Basically to look like a little TV on your wrist.
This one has to rank high on the "wrist presence" scale - it's substantial, but not over the top for your size wrist. Square, but the bow outward on each side softens it up just enough. Wonderful piece and a great example of the uniqueness that we're all looking for. After about ten years, I'm starting look at Tag more often lately. Congrats on a great find, enjoy it, I know you will!
Beautiful watch an icon a legendary timepiece! I prefer the dark lord monaco imo that's one of the most stunningly crafted watch tag heur has ever made😮
This is definitely a square watch done well, although perhaps my sympathies might go to the even more quirky vintage version. I get your reasoning getting this piece.
Great watch Pete, I don't get why tag heuer get all the hate. In the 80s they were considered one of the top brands . I've got an old quartz formula one chronograph ca1212-1, and it's a gorgeous little watch. I like the aquaracer models too. I've just purchased a black bay s and g , the black face one, and although it's a bit slab sided, it will look fine on my 7 and a half inch wrist. I always buy what I like , regardless of other people's opinions. You really need to do a state of the collection video if you ever get the time mate . That omega is amazing by the way .
I love weird watch cases like that lol. I purchased a seiko tuna and i dont give a f***k on what people say about its weirdness lmao. Love everytime i wear it 😂
lovely colorations on this . the blue sundial and red hands work so well. i have the silver dial in the light its almost white in colour. very nice time keeper, i dont look at the time im looking at the watch 😛
Nice content mate! Albeit I'm not a massive fan of the TAG Monaco. Steve McQueen is also associated with the Rolex 1655 because it's said he liked the watch. I share this opinion! 😄
I believe Steve McQueen actually liked quite a few pieces, the Rolex 1655 as well as the 417 ES Hanhart was also a regular appearance on his wrist. As for the Heuer Monaco, I believe it was just a movie prop more than anything...thats a given. 👍 Cheers Alex
I’m leaving this comment prior to watching the video… The only reason I am watching a review of a Tag is due to the fact you produced the video😊 Now let’s see what you have for us🤔 Well, first peek at the watch I thought, No. However, after watching the full video I am impressed with the TAG. Great video! Enjoy the watch😊
Hi Pete, Back in about 2010 I was saving up for a Monaco. Just before I managed to get the money together to buy the watch a close friend beat me to the pip, I bought a Carrera instead. That was a mistake I've regretted. I still have the Carrera but can't remember the last time I wore It.. Lovely watch but I would have paid the extra for the Cal11. I think you can buy one without the Tag on the dial.
@@PeterKotsa I could never understand why TAG had to put their brand on the dial of the watch. Heuver has so much history and the logo is so iconic. If they had to put their brand on the watches they should have put it on the case back. Another watch I regret not buying was the 2016 ? Reissue of the Autavia. I can remember seeing the two watches in a independent watch shop in my home town. I think they was about £1800 rrp back then. I was renovating my home back then so I never pulled the trigger. I did stop and drool at them every time I walked past the shop. I wouldn't pay over £3000 for one now.. I must say I think TAG have ruined the brand over the years.
Always wanted this watch, but fear that it would be too big for me. But damn…. thats just such a cool watch!!! Im mainly into chronos, and this has always ticked ALL the boxes. Hmmmm…😳😵💫🤨… rethink…?!
I love the look of this watch also forever, though I just can’t part with that amount of cash for one that is so quirky. Thanks for the video Pete , always enjoy your channel
What? I thought this watch has in-house chronograph movement, not shitty 2894. It's nice looking watch, I also love Le Mans movie & McQueenn is interesting actor, want get Hanhart 417 model that he wore. But 5 grand for this watch is insane in my opinion. Honestly I understand why people don't like Tag Heuer.
