I bought a Tesla key fob for Model 3/Y and this is why... (NO more Tesla walk of shame!) 

Most people just use their phone. Saves tesla money allowing them to make the car less expensive rather than including something that is necessary.

You can get key band with a key chain.

You don’t need your phone or key card if you have the key fob.

I think they should.

This is a older video. But I haven’t updated to V11 as I was seriously disappointed with new UI and how Tesla pushed it without testing it first. Some things which used to be on home screen are now in submenus, which makes it dangerous while driving. I can’t see my power consumption any more without hiding the map. Maps in night mode are dark. Profile is not on the home screen same as dash cam. It’s a mess. Other things I can live with. Elon mentioned UI improvements but so far nothing.

Yep. They just act like the card. You still have to hold them up to the door pillar to open the car.

IDK, I was wondering the same thing. I guess it can, but not sure if door function works.

@@JRCarReviews that’s not available on the model s key fob either. In fact, Tesla have removed remote windows control due to,safety concerns from the app. You can only vent the windows but you can’t close them.

​@@TheBronx_911Every manufacturer in the US was supposed to remove auto up/down windows function from their keyfobs for safety. They were worried about accidentally pinching on the windows up function. I was disappointed when I bought my new Ford and removed it

You can attach a string with a key chain ring but the key fob should definitely be standard just like on Model S & X.

How to spot a non Tesla owner...

Because phone very often loses connection to the car, you walk up to the car push in door handle and car is locked! Then you need to take your phone out of your pocket, unlock it, get in Bluetooth settings switch it Off and On, open Tesla app to unlock the car and it’s a hassle. Modern phones have low power Bluetooth settings and this doesn’t work properly with Tesla. It’s easier to have key fob in my pocket and just get in the car. It never turns off, and if you forget your phone you can still drive the car. It’s easier if you need to lend the car to your spouse or family member.

@@JRCarReviews can honestly say that has never happened to me, the tesla app needs to be open obviously, but I’ve never lost connection to my car, and my Bluetooth has never failed, and my partner has a phone key enabled too and has never have 1 single issue

@@keoghrichard1988 I have issues with mine and even before I got mine saw reviews where people had exact same issue. My friend doesn’t have that problem on his maybe on few occasions. But I do maybe half of times it doesn’t work and it’s annoying and frankly embarrassing.

I feel that way every time, my phone is still connected to my headset, so I have to use my key, but if the car is cold, or dewy, or just wants to test my nerves, I end up slamming my key on the side multiple times, all while I get the judgey-eyes from people. thank you for your video!

I bought a fob for myself and my wife. There were too many times where the app wouldn’t open the door. The fob is bulletproof. I keep it in my front pocket. When I’m approaching the car double click it horn honks doors are unlocked. I forgot to bring my fob with me one day and since Tesla did updates, it seems like it’s even harder to get a signal in order to open the door. If your phone is not getting a signal the app won’t open the door. I walked out of the grocery store the signal must’ve been too weak and I could not open the door. I went back to the grocery store stood next to the front door was able to get a signal from their Wi-Fi and then hit the unlock on the app. Heard my car horn go off and ran over to the car before it locked itself again. With the fob there’s no anxiety whatsoever. If it’s on you the door should open it may be a little bit of a delay. If you don’t want to deal with that just double push the button On the fob the doors unlock every single time.
