Awesome find. Key to stuff like this is to be patient but ready to pounce when the opportunity knocks. Someone once said - luck is nothing but being able to recognize a good opportunity. Stick the S38 on a stand. Sleep on it for a bit and see how you feel about building a project around it or just selling it off.
I like that quote a lot Rob. Thats totally right. Lots of people would look at this and laugh at the price, not me, I knew what she had for me😉. Im already getting some baaad ideas for the engine
Had a 1987 535is 5spd black w tan interior in great condition about 20 years ago. Had replaced the original metric size wheels with 17" e39 m5 replicas and added the Billy Boat exhaust (B&B). Loved the sound of that exhaust. Wished I kept that car 😢
My favorite bodystyle, the original M5. I remember the commercial for the first gen M5, totally awesome. If it was mine, I'd do a V10 swap with a 6 speed, full K&W suspension and Hartge or BBS rims
Very very nice find, S38 with the iTBs are so cool. Dont get rid of the wheels. Running gear into a nice shell and you have a monster. Shame its a true iS in that shape 😢 lots of good parts, find another 535is 💪🏼🍻
STYLE 3 750oily WHEELS! The rim of champions. The centre caps aren't the original alloy twist lock ones - they look like they're from the 93-96 E34 metric TD wheel. Looks like a very good strong shell with no rot. There are NONE of those left in the UK. Anything project is rotten. Please don't scrap the shell! The ECU is just a stock 535i/735i and 635CSi one, old E23 E24 E28 stuff. Probably the one from the car. I'd sell everything. E9's should (imo) run nothing more than a good M30. Funny you talking about E34 525i M50 parts cars.Guess what I just bought for @ $750 😂
@@berwhaletheavenger thank you for the info as always! Correct they were the e34 stock center caps. Theres unfortunately more to the history of this car than can allow it to stay on the road, long story but trust me! I agree with the M30 e9 sentiment but a s38 e9 race car😳😳 Good score on the E34!
@@m3nameisjosh464 I'll keep commenting my dream builds until I get the funds to build them myself. Until then I'll live vicariously through your content!
Why not? This car seems absolutely rust free. There is no rust on window frames, strut towers are completely clean, even the crumpled sills/lower parts of wings are fine. It seems mostly cosmetic with fade, crud and bad instrumentpanel.. With a new left wing and door and minor body work this would an absolutely mint car
I like the idea however this engine just doesn’t have the power to move an e32 jn a fun way. E32s need 400hp to be fun in my opinion. Its a racing motor, belongs in something that can race!!
They had an early and a late red Oxblood red and Cardinal red. Idk which came on what years but the oxblood is darker like the seats you have. Is the cardinal red option an is/vert option only?
I didnt know either until i tried to piece together a red sport coupe interior for an E30 325is. Both seats were factory leatherette, one was way brighter. Also an early and a late Tan too on E28 and E30. Located in Long Island NY love the vids 🔥✅
@@m3nameisjosh464 So. Any stock e28 wheel will fit? I guess the forged wheels are gone/sold already? Surprised no LSD or, that tranny with a removable bell housing. I didn't catch the year. The drive train screams for more investigation - who puts cash into an S38 swap w/o a proper rear end and stokes up on bright exhaust and a big light conversion with new seats? No mention of the diving board bumpers? Is the bottom rear bumper cracked too?
@@johnmcanulty7341 any stock 15 fits the brakes. Yes the style 3s are sold. Very odd car, it was a last minute throw the s38 in this car instead of another one. Rear diving board is in good shape I think
The car itself obviously don`t worth the full restoration, BUT - it would be fantastic youtube `to the last bolt and nut` restoration series! From crap to the race track. It`s a pity, we won`t get to see that..
I dunno man. I think if you intend to flip scores to other BMW enthusiasts for huge money it'd be better to just keep that on the DL. If you're gonna use stuff on projects sure but, I'm not sure other vintage BMW people are stoked to see anyone sit on cool parts to make a bunch of cash on em.
@@Fahlahlah i paid into the 5 figures for this car. I didn’t get it for free to sell parts at a 100x profit. Parts sales make the vintage bmw world go round. Anything I sell I sell at market price. But I think ill be keeping this drivetrain for my own project😉
