I guess it makes sense that the nearside of the boot is rotten since as you state the spring on that side appears gone i.e. it leans to the left and any water ingress would collect there !

Nice project. Back in the day I had a mk3 cavalier 1.8 I lowered it with some springs I found at ther tyre place I worked it was very low I put some renault 15 inch alloys on it with 205 tyres on the back and 195 on the front and it drove like it was on rails you could thrash the hell out of it and it just went where your pointed it I loved that car!!!

Damn, now that takes me back to my childhood, we were a big Vauxhall family as a kid, mum had a Nova, then we had a Astra SRi similar to that blue, midnight blue I think it was, then we had a dark green Cavalier 1.8 hatch back, same year as that too .Man that interior takes me back, good times. Proper posh model that with heated seats had to be done mate, can't be too many left on the road, and especially with the bigger engine. I'm with you on Vauxhalls, since that sort of era they've lost their way. I had a Corsa for my second car, was decent but a few years later saw the then new Polo and it was years ahead in terms of size and kit, been VW ever since coz I like how the DSG box drives more like a manual. Good luck with it mate and I'm sure it'll come up good, looking forward to hearing it running, we knew someone who had a Senator with the V6 in, and I always wished after the Cavalier we got one but mum and dad decided to keep it. Senators were the police weapon of choice other than the Volvo back then too.

I had a j reg 2.0 cavalier tuned and prepped by Courtney turbo. Cozzi killer. 2.0 8v Sri lump. Quick as chips. Loved it and miss it. J895 waw. Great vlog mate wish I could get up there and help give it a clean.👍

Interesting choice, love the fact it's a proper sleeper car , think i'd have to get to SRI seats and dash . What got me into cars, working at my dads refrigeration in the 70's on a Saturday, he did a lot of work on Jenson Interceptors , fixing and re gassing the air con, i'd i just come work in my dads Morris Marina , yeah slight difference when your a kid 🤣🤣 Always love a fast Ford, 5 pot ST hell yes 😎😎 proper sound, wouldn't touch the 4 potter!

I walked past a green Omega Elite for years, it never moved so one day I enquired. Found out it was Ex unmarked Police used for shunting staff about. agreed a price and collection day.. on the day the guy asked for no moneys on the promise I return it to the Road. It had 160k on the clock and was smooth as silk, full police service history and about 2k worth of brand new headlights, rear lights, brakes, bushes, coils, plugs ect ect.

My dad had 1:7 TD cavalier years back.Can’t fault you buying it Ben. Especially with the V6 in it. Looking forward to seeing it being repaired I’m a Ford man at heart,learned to drive in me dad’s cortina

Used to grass track them back in the days, she’s proper clean, ( mileage etc quick reg check lol ) Ali pressed reg plates, looked like sub / amp cables in boot / dash panel? I had an ASTRA GTE mk2 .. and my dad had a 2.5 V6 cavalier.. M reg.. whatever mk. that was... Sadly, I couldn't keep on top of the rust... but it did go to a cool guy with the facilities to keep it from dying.. and tragically, my Dad let his Cavalier go to the scrappage scheme.. horror

Love the old Vauxhall’s. I’ve got a Vectra ST 2.5 V6 that I’m putting a 3.0L V6 Omega engine in with lightened flywheel and 4 ‘g’ cams in. Your Cavalier will definitely sell well with that engine mod. Good luck with the restoration. 👍🏽😎

I've had 2 older sri130, possibly the sweetest sounding engine I've ever owned. And a red one like this one you just got. It was badged as an L but had a 2.0 sri lump. Bloody rapid as but hadn't upgraded the brakes so I wrote it off 🤣🤣 saving any car should be admired.

Nice project car, had a fair few cavaliers, including 2 mk2 convertibles, mainly Sri’s though and some calibras which is basically a cav underneath.
