I love that convertible clothing is considered futuristic. Well over 40 years ago my grandmother designed and made a skirt for me that could convert into a tote bag and then fold into a completely functional little purse. I always thought it was cool but I never knew until just now that it was revolutionary! :D
Your grandmother is super innovative! It must've been so confusing to figure out the logistics on something like that and still have it look good! So cool 💕
That's what I was about to say! There was a french brand named K-Way that made those waterproof jacket that fold into a fanny pack. And it was very popular in the 80s and early 90s, to a point that k-way became a common word to name those jackets. I mean, at least in France. I don't know if it went anywhere outside of the country
Wood is already somewhat commonly used in some mainstream fashion. Viscose is made from 'plant cellulose' which is often gotten from wood pulp (rayon is also made from plant cellulose)
and I can not help but feel sceptical about the other more weird materials. Like what exactly are they made of, using what possibly harmful chemicals and also if they are really biodegradable or if it's like "under special circumstances which cannot be met in regular biowaste treatment plants it would be biodegradable" 😅
I was coming here to say that. Also, natural fiber clothing (cotton, linen, silk, etc) is already biodegradable, its not a new invention like Hope seemed to think it was. The company is just advertising that its all natural/no synthetics.
I literally came here to say this. Not to mention the amount of chemicals it uses to modify fibers like wood so that they can be wearable textiles is just as bad for the environment as a polyester shirt. If it couldn't be made into fabric without significant chemical modification, it isn't as sustainable as they want you to think!!
Wool, linen, silk, and cotton are biodegradable. Rayon comes from plants, but are used by really strong chemicals and lots of water. There's quite a lot of green washing when it comes to fibers made from different plants as a marketing ploy.
The “wet” clothes look great on Hope! But I would never pay that price when I could just wear sheer clothes and pour water on myself for a similar look 😂
Well, most people with a conscience and awareness for the planet don't even have the kind of money to trash 3 grand on a sloppy wet toilet paper skirt. But I guess she's proof that if you give a vapid simpleton a giant paycheck, they'll blow it all on needless, senseless (sinfully ugly) crap that will end up creating tons more trash in the already overflowing landfills.
You may be surprised to hear that people have been making cloth from trees for some time. Viscose was the first fabric made from wood pulp, and Rayon followed. Everybody has heard of the bamboo sheets, etc., and I crochet with yarn made of birch and bamboo. Those are just a few of the products that exist. For some reason people don't know this. I think it's because it started before the trend to use renewable products existed.
Hope looks beautiful in anything because confidence is what shows through. But in case you didn't see what I saw Hope, the pink skirt did give a bit of diaper/ wet undies vibes.
Sewist here, and I just wanna point out that AI and robots that sew your clothes and would just make an entire craft disappear when it's currently full of skilled craftspeople (mostly from disadvantaged communities that couldn't get jobs in any other field) and it's NOT the solution to the current problems with the fashion industry. Robots would just make CEOs richer and a lot of poor people unemployed, the only real solution is to pay workers fair wages.
Yes .the only problems with people sewing and needing bots to replace them are the fast fashion industry where people are treated as slaves. Handmade sewed items are precious
I went to university with Sierra Sanderson! She is such a kind, smart, and inspirational person. She was famous on our campus for always wearing pink to engineering lecturers 🌸 love to see her being featured!
This video was so cool!!! I especially loved the dry wet sets. The pink one was giving popped bubblegum bubble vibes. But in a good way!! Totally something I would wear in just my day to day life 😍
As someone who lived through the eighties I have to tell you we had the " transformative " jacket back then. It was called the pac-a-mac and it was considered kinda nerdy...😂
The problem with fast fashion is not going to be solved by robots . Making robots sew the clothes would only create more problems. The issue is the facts that people are not paid a livable wage and they don't have enough worker's rights; and this just derives from over-consumerism.
Leo’s reaction to his boots, were almost like the first time I put shipping boots on my horse Whobee. 😆 But Whobee learned to love his boots, every time I pulled them out he’d offer his leg lol. My horse Whobee loved going to Horse Shows and to the Hunt Club lol.
@@hopescope Whobee had the tall shipping boots front ones over the knee, back boots over the hocks. Every Spring it was like he forgot how to walk in them lol. 😆 Now my mare LuLu is oh hell no it’s devil boots, 12 pound hissy fit for 30 seconds, ok no boots. 😆
Hoppee I am a 14 years old girl and we are going through some financial issues as my mom died and today it's mother's day and I was really sad but watching your video made me laugh and I just wanted to say thank you
Hope, this video was extra entertaining!!!! I love how far you've come.. ur personality is everything! And Leo, and hubby & even the sweet girl who edits! The wet look sets are so cute
Loved the “wet” clothes especially! The jacket that transforms has been around, very popular in the 90s if not even the 80s. They also remind me of some plastic bonnets for rainy weather that fold up and go inside a small bucket-shaped plastic container XD I think those are probably even older than the jackets concept, maybe 60s and 70s. I think there were funny futuristic designs and concepts like that back when plastic became mass produced and people thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
1. The brand thought Astro Boy, Hope thought Boots from Dora, my brain went to Amy from Sonic (kinda) Also Hope was talking about Heelies coming back but they already are! I’ve seen so many kids lately wearing them again!
This was hilarious and then Lee's reaction to his pairs just said it all 😂. As always you are a star 🌟 and those leggings were a bit of a dud. Never stop being you Hope, and regards to your support Tyler and the amazing Lee 🤗
Your comment about robots sewing clothing would solve problems in the clothing industry is really offensive and inconsiderate. How is people losing jobs and their livelihood a good thing? We are all against the conditions and pay for a lot of these factories. But at the end of the day, this is a job that helps these workers feed their family. They don’t need us to petition for the factories to shut down or use robotics. They need us to help them fight for better wages and working conditions. Have you ever look at it from these workers perspective? Yes their jobs sucks; they wish for better but a lot of these poorer countries does not have better. Robots will no help these workers feed their loved ones.
Fashion industry problems should be solved by fairly paying labour instead of big brands exploiting them. Not by making all the labour lose their jobs to machines.
Girl those leggings had me rolling both the vibrating ones and the ones that were on during the transitions 😂😂 but I love that you give and you show the ugly side of things which I appreciate
Yesss!!! I LOVE these videos where you order things and open them up! This was a really cool video!! Love you hope!!❤❤❤ thanks for all the effort you put into your videos!!❤
This was super interesting hope! You did some great research for this, I'm just about to finish a computer science degree and you taught me a thing or too about the future of computing in fashion in this video, very well made! well done1
Firstly HAPPY 3M🎉 Hope, you’re just the most fun channel. I mean this as an absolute compliment, you’re basically our new Jenna. Always fun, positive content. You do so much for other people and have a great community.
Omg your videos make my day! I haven’t seen every single one of them but I want to and I am working on it. Please keep making videos. I love them so much. I can guarantee you make everyone else happy too! And I love light up clothes too! I don’t have any though and it makes me kind of sad. But yours are so cool! You looked amazing in all of the outfits!
Maybe it’s because I’m a bioanalysis, but I can really see a future and benefits for cloths there can either be cold or hot. Exactly for example people who can’t regulate their body temperature or people whose blood coagulates if they get to cold. For them those kinds of cloth would be life changing 😀
