@@maditales OMFG YOU PINNED MY COMMENT, this has gotta be the highlight of my whole 2023, ilysmmmm❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ And yes lol I can confirm that it’s a lifestyle, considering that I keep buying books when I have like a million to read 🤣🤣
litterally!!! i saw a video recommending one of these books some weeks ago and i added it to my tbr but everytime i look at it it looks so boring... now after watching this video it sounds like the best book ever
11:56 actually in the Greek myths Poseidon never SA’d Medusa, that’s actually Neptune in Roman mythology. And she was born a gorgon along with two sisters, so she’d always been a gorgon. This was what earlier Greek poets described her as like Hesiod, but for some reason later writers changed it.
technically yes, Ovid wrote that Neptune did that but I've also read some greek translations where medusa not willingly had an affair with poseidon, in school. maybe they were translated wrong but i have definitely read translations that said Poseidon (the greek name) and not Neptune
1. I AM SO FREAKING HAPPPYYY THAT YOU FINALLY UPLOADED THIS VIDEO! PLS DO IT MORE OFTEN! 2. I LOOOVEEEE U!!! 3. Pls recommend us some german books (& I can‘t find the mentioned books) 4. I feel like you are going to be very sad in the next months 🙌🏼😂 (because of these books)
Omg if you like that book about Medusa then you should read the book called Medusa! Every time I read a book about her I fall even more in love with her.. She is in fact the definition of feminine rage
I didn’t realize authors change names of characters in different countries/editions until you started talking about someone named Ilya in Powerless 😂 In the US she’s Paedyn & I was so confused
One dark window and Stone blind was two of my favorite books last year. I definitely recommend listening to the audiobook for Stone blind. Natalie Haynes reads all her books herself and is amazing.
we NEED a magnolia parks read along ( btw the old covers are still going to be acessible in the uk and aus ( i think for aus ) and the 5th one will have an og style cover so yayyy )
Madita, you are my comfort RU-vidr and one of the few people I trust for book recommendations haha. I hope you know how amazing you are. Happy holidays! ❤
I'm currently on a book buying ban because I just bought 7 more books (but they were all second hand) And Madita you're so gorgeous today (and as you always are)
Hi! I'm glad to see that people abroad are into russian classics, so as a russian myself, i highly recommend to read "The Master and Margarita" by M. Bulgakov and "White nights" by F. Dostoyevsky c:
I'm late but Powerless is my Favorite book, and Lauren is making a Novella called Powerful that is Adenas point of view. The second book is called Reckless. Powerful: April 30 Reckless: July 4th
Just FYI the Medusa being the victim is a Roman myth rather than a Greek one. In Greek mythology, she is born as a gorgon and has two gorgon sisters rather than cursed to be one. The reworked myth is by Ovid purposely to frame Athena in a bad light. I read the book and it was good, but as a greek mythology fiend I would to make it clear that its based on Roman myth.
Just to clear some things up, POWERLESS: I am extremely stupid and don’t know why I confused the main character’s name with the name of the kingdom. So sorry for confusing everyone idk what was going on with me that day. I read Percy Jackson when I was younger and loved the books. I mentioned that scene from the movie because of what Medusa says to Percy about Poseidon because when you think about the different versions of the myth, what she says can be understood differently. I know it’s not what the author meant but when you look at that scene in comparison to Medusa’s darker tale, it can feel different. Sorry for the confusion
I'm a little confused. The only scene I remember from the movie is Medusa saying she dated Poseidon, which is the version Rick Riordan used in Percy Jackson (that the two had been a consensual couple).
@@kittymagica6408yes Medusa didn’t say that Poseidon sa’d her but I was just saying that whenever I watch the movie I can only think about Ovid and her backstory. Not that it’s said in Percy. Just how Medusa is represented in the movie in comparison to how she’s represented in Ovid.
OMG I am so sorry!! In all seriousness this was a joke that was more aimed at people who ACTUALLY havent read the books! I was pretty sure you had! I was just trying to make a joke and the undertone when i said it in my brain was haha hehe sarcastic witty comment 😝Again though so sorry didnt mean to offend!! I love you!! @maditales
my most recent book purchase was Song of silver, flame like night by Amelie Wen Zhao and I haven't read it yet but its supposed to be a Chinese historical romance with Chinese mythology (THE COVERS ARE SO PRETTY OML)
You look so pretty in this video! Buying books after being on a book buying ban is the only way Also I think in Powerless Ileyea (not sure how to spell it) and the MC name is Paedyn
I read House of Roots and Ruin last month! It was good, a little slow paced compared to House of Salt and Sorrows but still loved it! I rated it 3.75 stars.
i just recently purchased Final Offer to complete The Fine Print series by Lauren Asher. I also got The Lord of the Flies by William Golding as well as Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes :)) 35:30
Have you ever read The Stalking Jack the Ripper series of books by Kerry Maniscalco. I thing you should read it. I just recently came across your RU-vid channel and after listening to you I thought that you would absolutely fall in love with this series of books
Hi! My last book purchase was actually „a curse for true love“ (i am crying and sobbing and arghhhhhh) and „caraval“. (both of them from stephanie Garber) i don‘t know about caraval but I WANT TO READ IT OMG anyways liebe Grüsse an MANFRED 💅🏼😌
My boyfriend refuses to take me to bookstores because “you have like 10 unread books so until you read them no books” so basically I’m on book buying ban as well 🙄 makes me wanna read faster to buy more 😋
you can! but it’s better if you read caraval first bc both stories happen in the same universe and you understand the world and how everything works a little better when you read once upon a broken heart after that trilogy
Just because I mention one small detail about the movies because of the relevance to the book, doesn’t mean I hate nor dislike the series nor that I haven’t read it, when I have. That was just a scene that came to my head.
