I used to be a co angler and been in almost all bass boats. Champion by far had the smoothest ride. I hope you realize what you have. I upgraded to lithium batteries last year and they are worth every penny. Congratulations
Thanks! Everyone’s telling me its a unicorn, so I’m very excited to learn more about it! I’ve ridden in several as a co angler myself, so after a few rides I should have a better comparison for myself!
Biggest thing I would say is take care of your boat and it will take care of you. Keep up with the maintenance or it will catch up to you on the water or right when you're about to go out. This is especially true with a 2-stroke. I would replace the impeller and gear oil. Also I would replace trailer bearings and try to do that atleast every season or so. I also like to wipe mine down after every trip with hot sauce. It's a nice boat man! Don't forget to insure it!
Oh I insured it before we put it in the first time! I got some bass boat saver and plan to wipe it down every time also, like the guys in my club do! Gonna ask them more about general upkeep to be sure I’m on top of it! Thanks for the recommendations!
Teej! Super-sweet boat! I love it. It's in great condition, and you can tell it has been taken care of very well. And those Yamahas are the best. If you ever need a camera man around here, let me know!
@@TeejStone Ha! I'm in for sure. But we will have to rely on some of our other friends for their expertise on big water spots. As far as my knowledge is concerned, WP Lake and Harding might as well be the surface of the moon. :)
Had 17.6 contender but 2 years bought a 188 champion with 175 e-tec . You got a great boat keep the hot foot lubricated it can stick !!!! The seat bracket is not original
Just replaced the live well timer on my 2000 Triton TR-21, easy fix and for less than $50.00. Also, I have a Yamaha VMax 225, OX-66 and unfortunately I just replaced the power head. My mechanic highly suggested that I run Mercury Premium Plus semi-synthetic oil instead of Yamalube. The Mercury oil is a lot cleaner oil as Yamalube has a high ash content. He even went as far as removing my oil reservoir and cleaning the sludge out of the bottom.
Man! That’s stuff I don’t know enough about! I’ve been running the oil the previous owner was using. He’s said there’s been 0 issues so far thankfully. I gotta get that livewell timer fixed though, cause it’s about to heat up!
Beautiful boats... pretty much my dream boat. I will get there one day, for now I'll keep ripping my 17' 90 HP tiller boat around (yes it's a riot) Pls take care of it, not many left in that sort of shape.
@@TeejStone you damn right you're blessed. Clean ones like that don't happen often, how much was it? I came across a 25th anniversary 193, full restored with a freshly rebuilt Merc racing 200, it was pretty loaded for only 26000. But, buying a house was more important so I missed out. Like I said...I'll get there eventually. I'm happy with mine for now, i run my set up in shit you wouldn't think about running a glass boat🤣 GL to you man.
@@TeejStone excellent deal. Just pay attention to the transom, champs were known for weak transoms. Also, did it have a jack-plate? If not, invest in a high quality one from either bob's or atlas. They'll wake that boat even more. Congrats again.
@@TeejStone Well mines an 89’ and not as nice as that one, but I sure do love it. It rides smoother than any other boat I’ve owned. And I love having that big deck on the front. Plenty of room for me and my boys.
I have owned 4 Champs now. The 206 I just bought is probably my forever boat. If you have questions theres a couple of good fb groups and lots of knowledge.
@@TeejStone not too bad. i did not cut the back of the transom off. i cut the 2" wide top off (45min), dug out the wet but not rotten wood (20hrs) cleaned everything with acetone and used "carbon core" ($557 for 2gal to my door). the material was the most pourable i seen on youtube. used the paint tray method to control the pour. sealed the top with gelcoat and reinstalled the motor. i have about 40hrs total time and probably $1500 in materials. i did not keep the receipts--did not want to know the total :)
@@charlesjones257 haha fair! I got some good people around me to lead me in the right direction with it also! I know the boys been meticulously maintained by its previous owner!
@@TeejStone here is the youtube from rick pierce on chine walk ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WMXMbToRHFo.html well worth the time to watch. i am not a speed demon, 65ish mph is very comfortable to drive. boat will exceed 70mph.
T J Congratulations to you on your bass boat man. She looks really really nice man. I like the color too. Man I know you are so exciting to have it. This was a big upgrade from the kayak. I do have one question? I have heard that some of those bass boats the carpet is rough on your feet 🦶. How is the carpet on your boat is it pretty comfortable being barefooted 👣on there? I was thinking about getting a bass boat at one time but when I heard that & I have to be a barefooted 👣 guy I turned it down. Man I am so happy for you buddy. Looking forward to seeing you having some fun on your boat man.
@@TeejStone Charger boats has some hulls. Charger from long time ago was a copy IMO of Champion. But now they actually have an Elite model which even has the same Champion signature 'arrow' on the side with the 3 Charger flags. Pretty much a Champion hull with a Charger brand designed top cap.
@@TeejStone BTW, just found your channel searching for some Champion info. Congratulations on your new boat. It's definitely a nice one and a beautiful color combination. Will look great on the water on a Sunday day. I'm looking for a Winner, Stratos or Champion older boat to restore a little.
@@mikz86ta1 awesome! Thanks for checking out my video. Hopefully going to get a lot of content out of it. I’m thankful to have it as my first one. Let me know what you end up getting!
