My dear husband Chris (he died a year ago) was a Jaguar enthusiast who watched your videos Adam. He always rated the pre HE highly. Particularly the V12. I absorbed a lot of his knowledge but wish I had half his genius in the garage. Enjoy your new motor.

@seriousros7280 I had a pre HE carburettor model 1973 in regency red with a light tan interior, had 6 weeks driving without fault and then one morning after a petrol stop the engine stuttered badly, I managed to make it back home but it never ran properly again and I tried everything and so did a few local mechanics - I would like to have known your husband and I’m sorry for your loss - he was indeed a man of great taste - both cars and ladies -

So pleased for you Adam. I’ve owned and restored my 1978 XJ-S dream car for 10yrs now. I’ve wanted one since I was a wee boy and get as much joy just sitting in it 😂

I followed the XJS from its release as we lived near the dealership then in the 90’s my Step Father bought the revised version 6.0 V12 two tone moonstone blue much more Germanic suspension rock hard spoiled it. Of course it went like a jet super smooth. But I think the best XJS are the earlier cars turbine waft monsters in British Leyland colours.

What a find. Plan thoroughly and go step by step. Yes that model is worth every penny you spend on it assuming the basic shell is OK. Best from the UK.

Merry Christmas to you. Your videos are a real service to the Jaguar community and much needed inspiration and motivation to myself. As for your coupe - I have never seen a rust free version in it original state never! - it’s not only rare - it’s a miracle. All the best for you and your enterprise in 2024.

Adam, Im glad for you. Great to see you have acquired your dream car, but more over that you are going to start your own full time classic car repair shop. I still can remember your first video...I wouldnt have expected those times that you would get to this point :) Huge congratulations. Even i have no more time to watch your chanel regulary, i still do watch some of your videos time to time... You are still a huge motivation and inspiration to slowly continue with my 420G project. Finger crossed and wish to you and all your family only the best in 2024... Good luck and keep going.

As a school boy I used to polish my neighbours 4.2 XJ6 in about 1975. His name was Jim Porter and lived at 76 Kings Avenue, Bromley, Kent. He used to drive it to his house in Spain with his wife. I remember how nice it was, finished in dark blue with grey interior, which I still think has one of the nicest interiors in the world. Great you have this beautiful rare coupe, great project. Happy Christmas.

Mid 1970's Jaguar-Daimler advertising was all about "aspiration". As you saw with the full line brochure, it's a "lifestyle" they were selling. Perhaps the ultimate in Daimler advertising is 1975's "The Daimler Limousine is here, your excellency", a brochure for the DS420. Also worth looking for is the 1975 Daimler Sovereign brochure where the chauffer is removing the car cover on the "master's new car", a Daimler sedan.

Congratulations on your XJ12-C! I've been working on Jaguars for nearly 25 years now, with more E-Types than I can remember coming through the shop and there's a beautiful '53 XK120 that I service yearly, but I've only had the pleasure of working on ONE XJ12-C that entire time. It's the only one I've ever seen in person, so yes - a rare car indeed. Glorious to drive, like any Series II or Series III sedan, but with a bit more sporting personality if you will. My personal dream car would be a 6 cylinder version with manual transmission, but here in the States I believe they're almost non-existent. Enjoy your car! It will be very happy with its new owner, I'm quite certain.

Congrats, Adam!!! My brother and I were given two cars, me a silver 1975 Mercedes 240D, and my brother got...a regency red with black top 1975 Jaguar XJ12 Coupe... Both were Corgi models (hah!), but even then I rather have had the Jaguar and felt there was a mistake made! The hood on the Jaguar opened forward, which impressed me, and I've loved the cars since. I satisfy my love with just one, but like you, I have my dream car. Your videos are always informational, and good luck with the 2024 endeavors!!!!

I agree that they are a beautiful car. When these were new I worked with a gentleman whose wife had a Daimler XJ12C as her company car. She was the personal secretary to the Melbourne Jaguar distributor. It was a lovely car. Before this she had a Daimler 250 that had a Benz engine factory fitted as a celebration of Karl benz. I never found out what happened to that car.

The carb’d XJ12Cs are super super rare. There was one in a field behind SNG Barratt in Manchester New Hampshire USA, along with a second XJ12C. I used to pull parts off them for my XJ12C (that was fuel injected). They’re long gone now. Someone gave me an engine-less XJ6C with a Series 1 front end and some Daimler parts. Going to smash it together with a rusted out XJS and make a Daimler Double Six Vanden Plas Series 1 Coupe… a car that doesn’t really exist but can with all OEM parts. Should be fun! And Expensive! Good luck on opening a Jaguar shop.

Beautiful Jag! Jaguar makes the most beautiful cars there are. I followed your channel since the beginning. Awesome channel! Personally I think Jaguar has made the most beautiful cars ever made and in no particular order are in my opinion of course the Jaguar E-type, the 1990 jaguar XJS convertible or similar year. The pre-HE jaguar XJS and of course the XJ 12 coupe like here on this episode. You pretty much have all four already don't you? Just need that E-type Adam. Exceptional collection. And yes take your time with this beauty. Like a fine wine. No need to rush somethings so damn awesome and cool.

Hi Adam, from Sydney, Australia. I have always loved these, there were a pre-production pair sent to Sydney motor show back in 1973, a regency red 4.2 coupe and a turquoise V12 coupe. HOWEVER, they were finished as series one XJC's with the spectacular tall grill. I had just finished high school and was heading to uni in the new year. I was disappointed when they, Jaguar eventually launched the XJC's in late 1975 in Australia with the short series 2 grill. I was at uni' studying medicine to be a doctor and had a LHD '65 4.2ltr mk10 as my daily only affordable as it was LHD in an RHD country and soon all LHD cars in July '76 would be de-registered and put off Australian roads, so my mk10 was on borrowed time. However at last moment a scrappy Brit' import appeared cheaply in my lap. So my just retired industrial engineer granddad helped in the mid-year uni break to swap my "leftie" into being a "right-ie". I had it completed 2 weeks before the cutoff date. Having finished uni and gainfully employed by NSW Mental Healthcare, I had been saving like mad on a good wage to buy myself a 4.2 ltr XJC coupe, I wanted British racing green paint with biscuit color fabric interior. Then with the new federal budget, the federal government imposed a 44.75% import tax on luxury cars nearly but doubling the price, I WAS SO ANNOYED, they were then out of reach & soon to be gone with no series 3 version. I should have borrowed some cash and financed it before the fed's penalized the price .. SO, I bought what I thought at the time was the next best thing, but after 32 yrs of ownership, I feel the better built car, A super rare series 1 long wheelbase XJ6 in regency red with biscuit interior, had a mere 18,000miles on when I bought the car. Ordered by the Frenchman that ran/headed up Citra Constructions, that built natural gas pipelines across Australia in the early 1970's and all related infrastructure for the Federal government. Only 2,600 serries 1 LWB bodyshells were ever built, split Left drive/ right drive, 4.2 litre/ 5.3 litre, Jaguar/Daimler, you get down to just a couple of hundred of each, plus there were exactly 352 V12 5.3 litre Van Den Plas just ONE of these was LHD, for the US concessionaire as his personal car. Finally my own one was ordered and built as if it were a RHD 6 cylinder Van Den Plas with no vinyl roof, but fitted with ALL other Van Den Plas fittings, confounding people at car shows, however I had the order and build sheet, to prove factory genuine. After the 2 door XJC's had been on the road for a while many 2 door XJC's suffered badly with A pillar flex at both the top and bottom of the A pillar on front screen and this causing the smallest of cracks to appear lead to water coming into the car in small amounts, but causing a bad rust issue down the track and there can be nasty not visible rust growths upon the rear sill rails beneath the rear wind down windows too and nightmarish to fix as well. After 32years ownership I sold by XJ6L to a friend, as I had just purchased a one owner 50,025 mile original immaculate 1967 mk10/420G in the exact color combo as my original 1965 one near 40 years prior.

Very cool! If you can find a V12 E Type manual gearbox, it will fit right up. I have one in a S2 XJ12. We will be watching! Thanks, Rob

Hi Adam, this is my first comment on your channel although I've followed you for some time now. The thing that I like about you and your attitude to your cars mostly is that you, like myself, understand the importance of keeping things as original as possible. I own a very similar jaguar to one of yours, I have a 1974 XJ6L in BRG and a moss green interior. I've had it since 2000 (23 yrs) and I am only the 3rd owner. I even met its original owner about 10 years ago and he was then in his 90s. So glad I tracked him down. Like you I adore the series 2 XJs and to me they are the best of the three series. They are cleverly designed cars with many special details that only enthusiastic owners discover. I would love an XJC 12 cylinder like yours and maybe one day will be lucky enough, but if not I love my XJ6 anyway. I would say that even tho your coupe looks fairly rust free, dont be surprised if you find some filler covering corrosion on the bodywork. I say this because my first XJ, a1973 series 2 XJ6 short wheelbase that I bought in 1984 , was barely 11 years old at the time yet I discovered had a great deal of filler covering rusted areas! But not to bring you down, yours may well be fine (Like my current XJ) , I really look forward to following your journey of bringing the fabulous car back to life!

I’m lucky that the car is well documented from day one and it doesn’t have any nasty surprises. Thanks for the comment!

Most excellent! Have you seen the video on removing rust from tanks using electrolysis by TJM The Jag Man?
@LivingWithAClassic

Yes I have, may try that. Will look into the tanks and see how they are. Otherwise I may actually just go for new ones. It is a real pain if you get dirt in 4 carbs that are a pain to remove on these.

Always, always preferred the XJC, over the XJS, personally thought the XJS looked like a tank after the E-Type, but the XJC looked perfect, just plus, it being a V12, IMHO.

When it comes to XJ-S, i really do like the early ones like the one I have but the XJC will always be the most beautiful car ever made in my eyes. And yes it has to be a V12!

Merry Xmas Adam! What a find Sir! Such a rare car. So few of these carb version xj12c’s (not a xj5.3c) were made. Would you mind sharing the chassis number? It must be one of the first 37 LHD cars.
