I Bought "Pokémon Black & White 3" 

Can't believe Kev got to play Pokemon Black and White 3 before anyone, even GameFreak

For black coloured cartridges, they did exist! In fact, they were very common. The black cartridges came out when the Gameboy color did, and it meant that the games were in full colour, but still playable on the original Gameboy models. Furthermore, there is actually an official Pokémon game that came on these carts, being Pokémon TGC! (And it’s sequel exclusive to Japan)

This is such a fascinating bootleg because there was an old creepypasta that came out before Pokemon Black an White called well... Pokemon Black and it involved a bootleg cartridge that looked quite a bit like this one (albeit the label was black with only the Pokemon logo on it and nothing else). Luckily this bootleg seems to be rather normal instead of scary lol.

Black Gameboy Color cartridges were GBC games that were backwards compatible with the original Gameboy. GBC-exclusive games are in a clear plastic which is why Crystal is clear but not Gold & Silver which were backwards compatible

It's unfortunate that ROM hacks have to use other Pokémon's cries for the ones that are above that system's generation (i.e. Flabébé in a Gen 4 game having Piplup's cry). I know nothing of the technicalities when it comes to how Pokémon cries work in each generation, but in this case they'd definitely have to recreate all the cries from scratch.

It would be pretty cool to see this as a series.

Yes, black cartridges were officially created by Nintendo for the Gameboy and Gameboy Color. Specifically, Nintendo used black carts to denote Gameboy games that had an enhanced color mode when inserted into Gameboy color's. Most famous "black" carts were actually the Pokemon games! They had special exceptions that allowed them to be colored other than black, though the "Pokemon Trading Card Game" cart did use the standard black.

Not sure if you've noticed, but Hilbert wasn't the protagonist of the Black 2/White 2 games. This is confirmed by entering the player's house in Unova town, as Hilbert is looking for N. The protagonist of Black 2/White 2 is Nate.
