Seth from ‪@SethsBikeHacks‬ & ‪@BermPeakExpress‬ is the best mountain bike RU-vidr in my opinion, and my biggest inspiration. I hope to one day meet him, so I bought parts that used to be on his bike, and they're carbon! So are carbon upgrades worth it?

It’s cool to see someone else chucking their bike into the back of a sedan. I don’t have a rack that my current bike fits on so I have to cram it into the back of a 2013 Toyota Corolla, it’s a tight squeeze even with the seats down

I have a 2014 Toyota Agya hatchback, have been chucking almost all kinds of MTB on the rear seat with rear wheel STILL attached. If I let the bar rest on the seat, the fork won't let me close the rear door. The trick I used is to close the door with opened window. Use one hand through the window to lift the fork just to clear the closing rear door. After the rear door is closed, gently rest the lower leg of the fork on the seat and the door. This will "lock the bike into position". It won't move side-to-side or fore-and-aft. Usually I put one of my knee guard over the fork thru axle to avoid scratching the insides of the rear door. I also put tarps over the seat to avoid making a mess of the rear seat with dirts and grime from the bike. Cheers! Another Siskiu user.

I switched to carbon bars last spring. It’s my only carbon part and I didn’t do it for weight. I have no idea what they even weigh. I did it after reading about them helping with vibration. They all but eliminated the post ride elbow pain I was having. Maybe it was the placebo effect or maybe it’s true, but I think carbon helps with vibration for sure. Hopefully you notice a difference too.

About the Oneup Carbon bars, correct me if I’m wrong but they have incremental bar roll measurements near the stem clamping surface, which you can change accordingly with your head tube angle. That’s what gives them the “vertical compliance” that Oneup claims and everyone raves about.

Some advice from a bike mechanic, don't get in the habit of clamping your bike to the repair stand by the frame of the bike. It doesn't matter on an aluminum bike too much but if you ever deal with carbon the stand can actually crush the frame because carbon is not designed to resist crushing forces.

I’ve found that 35mm bars are more confident over rough terrain. Most hand comfort for me comes from the grips, not the bar. I remember how spindly wide 31.8mm bars were, and I don’t remember them being any more compliant. It’s all experience and personal preference.
@winjones8552

Coming off 31.8 whiskey bars to 35mm one ups the difference is noticeable. I haven’t really noticed the stiffness as much but the compliance from the one up design is noticeable.

For the vast majority of bikes, especially most modern MTBs with 1x drivetrains, there’s no reason to measure chain line spacing. If your bike is boost rear spacing (148mm), order a front chainring with a 3mm offset. If non boost (142mm) order 6mm offset. If super boost or DH rear spacing (157mm), 0mm offset

800 mil bars are pretty usual across all sizes, when you get to slacker bikes meant for descending as they are more stable. And 175 mill cranks come stock on most enduros, until you get to longer travel (around 180+) as longer cranks will strike rocks easier.

You should add an outro to your videos. The way they end right now seems like your battery died for the camera.

Get rid of the Carbon cranks. Just snapped a new set of X01 cranks and it it was bad enough I have been out of work for 4 weeks all to save a few grams? I love carbon and have 2 carbon bikes so not a hater. But the cranks lasted less then 10 rides and snapped. I have talked to a whole lot of people who have had the same issues. There is just zero reason to run them honestly. Rode at your own risk.
