I LOVE Your Channel Man. I'm on disability, 56 yrs old, and will likely be transitioning to van living in 3 yrs or so out of financial necessity. I'm researching and learning and saving $ as my only other option will be moving to wherever in the country I can afford a studio/1br Apt and needing to furnish it anyway. There I would be isolated anyway, which isn't good, especially as I age. Van living seems like a way better option... making life interesting...allowing me to visit the wonders of nature in the USA as well as meeting interesting travellers along the way. Your videos are SOOO helpful, God Bless You!!!

I've been saving up for a small school bus and planning to hit he road in 2025. Stay determined, Stay focused (despite the naysayers), and live fully before time passes from you.

Just don't forget how expensive vehicle repairs are now at $100-$130/hour for labor + parts; shops are shorthanded & so it takes longer to get repairs done; which could mean you need to stay in a hotel, & they are expensive now.

Amazon had a Pecron E600 for $329. it has a 1200 watt inverter and 614 Wh. It is Lipo4 the safest chemistry at this time. Pecron is not the best company around and you have to deal through emails with China; at least they have good English instructions. Most of us are only using the 12 volt option and rarely use the inverter, although I have tried it on the lowest-wattage 600 watt Commercial Chef microwave and it works pulling 1165 watts. I would think that Lipo4 chemistry is safer because if you have a short inside the box it doesn't blow up and catch fire. I bought the E600 Pecron with the full knowledge that it didn't have all the convenience of a Bluetti or EcoFlo.

I really appreciate the power station videos. I am not very well educated on watts, amps and volts and all that. So I always want to know how many hours will it run a small fridge in a van from fully charged until it goes dead. It may sound like a dumb question, but it really is the only way it makes sense to me. Thanks for another great video!
@fatray2922
@fatray2922 Год назад
Frank, fridges don't run continuously, they run when the temp inside is too hot. There are way too many variables to give you a good answer. How warm is the area the fridge is located, how often do you open the fridge, how warm are the items going into the fridge, how much insulation does the fridge have, what is the eco rating of the fridge. This unit will recharge via solar , AC input (fixed or generator) and most of all your cigarette lighter plug. By virtue of tge fact that it's in a van then a cigarette lighter will probably be available so your never completely without power ..... but that will be the most expensive and longest way to charge unless you just happen to need to travel somewhere and are running the van anyway. If you're relatively good about having your solar out and facing it towards the sun then this unit size is a good small fridge option
@MrPir84free
@MrPir84free Год назад
Refrigerators are sort of driven by efficiency. However, I have a little Bluetti 268 WH unit; I ran the home fridge during a power outage, for two hours, and it consumed 2/3rds of it's capacity. Different refrigerators are going to have different efficiencies and power draws, but when things are already cold inside the fridge, it will last longer. This was a 26 cu. foot refrigerator ( fairly large ), and was consuming 95 to 110 watts.

I have a ffpower 2000w, great unit. But I would sincerely recommend most people into building their own station...you can get 8 to 10x the amp/watt hours for the same 1000 dollars...I just built a 24v eve 105A x 8 batteries, with 4000 watt inverter and charger...custom building 12 outlets, 3 usb, and 2x 30A plugs for heavy duty use... plus with dedicated mini ac breaker panel for powering and disconnecting each outlet..all in the cost of this was about 1200 bucks but instead of 2000w like my ffpower, my device will output 24v x 840 = 20,000 watts in a similar weighted unit to a jackery or ffpower...don't buy these build your own

Financially, this is a win-win. It has excellent function in a small package, and by the time you use up the cycles, there will probably be great advances in solar ggenerators and you’ll find a replacement you are very happy with. However, I just saw coverage of a lithium-ion car battery fire that was disturbing.
@SaulGone613
@SaulGone613 Год назад
That's a good point. Someone torched a local business's tiny fleet of EV semis & they both burned hot, flamed incredibly high, and wouldn't stay put out. The business was wise enough to have them parked a safe enough distance from their building, but the fire dept couldn't bury them in sand as they usually do (too big) so they were forced to keep the hoses on them. I had no idea how bad it could get. It took 50 firefighters to deal w it.
@backroadsusa6915
@backroadsusa6915 Год назад
If you're talking about the same article that I read a lot of these fires that happen is when people are charging them and they're fully charged they keep them plugged in and they tell you not to do that even if you're charging a tool battery in your house as soon as it's charged your supposed to take it off the charger and unplug the charger cable. People ignore this step. I'm not saying that's the cause of all of these fire especially the car ones but they have found that in quite a few of the fires in the majority of them are from people overcharging these batteries.

100% agree. Also need to consider Li ion has safety issues compared to LiFePO4. This REALLY needs to be mentioned especially since we're talking about the cheapest of Chinese no-brand manufacturing. If we're going to say for people to never cut into their emergency fund, a thought can be spared for never taking unnecessary fire risks in the vehicle one sleeps in. And 1000 cycles vs 2500-3000 is a huge difference: I know some folks will be in a position where they can't afford the extra expense and have to buy straight away... but most people can just wait a bit to have the extra money to afford a battery that will likely last 3 times longer. 3 years vs 9 for instance: huge difference.

Thankyou Bob. Always appreciate what you share with us. I wish these manufacturers would come up with more of a universal or industry standard or better/more durable 12v output port. Even a "twist lock" cigarette lighter port would be better than the age old one that seems to fail on a lot of these power stations. Since 12v output power usually is more efficient than inverted power it would be nice to see the 12v port updated to some new norm. Thanks again.

Well - I just snapped up a Lifepo4 1kw unit with the 100w supercharger usb you talked about for 499 bucks, same inverter power (peak at 2000w). Just like yours, it was an relatively unknown brand, but life4po is getting cheaper now. A lot!

Power went out last night. Did not sound like it would be out long enough to hook up the generator. Ended up attaching a 400 watt inverter to my gooloo GE1200 to light a lamp, so we were not sitting in the dark. What would be an affordable (cheaper than this unit) solution to run a medium sized tv, modem, wifi router and a couple lights, few times year so we can watch tv for a few hours three or four times a year.

I saw some cheap ones on prime day about $500 for 1600w which is important as it will power basically everything.

I always wonder what would happen if you plugged in more solar watts than the power station is rated to "take in?" For example, if it can take in 200w to charge it, what would happen if you plugged in two 120w solar panels? Would that wreck the power station or does it have a built in charge controller that would limit the input?

Thanks for the shedding some light into these generic brands. I’ve always been intrigued by their affordability but also skeptical about their actual abilities. For those who don’t know, a 1000 cycle lifespan is actually plenty; it doesn’t mean 1000 charges. Besides, even beyond the specified “lifespan” the cells don’t stop working… they’ll just hold

I believe that the technology and price of power stations are getting to the point that doing a big electric build in a van is no longer necessary.

Just as laptops or smart phones have replaced desktops/payphones, but people might still put rigid solar panels on vehicle roof just as some kids might still want a huge, fast desktop with extra graphics, etc.

Yeah basically I live in rv part time nobeletric at. Campground. I have 4 solar generators between 140 and 350. 6 solar panels. I only run generator 5 hrs a week. The other trailers have generators on 18 hrs. A day here

I wonder how much to Start your Refridge and keep running as well as if you wanted to do your AC. These two seem to be the biggest start peak power items. Just in case you lose power to your home.

I just checked Amazon for this Hepway product on 5/21/24 and it doesn't come up but Bluetti does. Maybe Bluetti bought them out after Bob did this video.

I love your honesty in your reviews and recommendations. I was doing some research and learned that Bluetti is also made in China. Do you think the same manufacturer makes both that you are showing in this video?

Well I’m bummed that they changed the specs on this now as of today as Bob mentions as of Aug 3rd or I would have bought it :( But will keep watching for a similar deal. Thanks Bob!!
