@@freewillmonk9283 Agree! I have partnered with 034 and they sent us ZV8 TCU / ECU tune for the RS5. I’m hoping to record that content on the 28th in Chicago, but I am suffering with sciatica right now
nice pick up. I love my B8 S4. Ive owned it for 8 years and its been my daily driver. Now have 185k miles. Been tuned stage 1 IE since 85k. Its been the best car ive ever owned.
@EXERGAMING Besides tune I only have a CTS intake. Not performance oriented but I have radar detector blend mounted. Rest of stuff Ive done was all maintenance oriented. Still driving it every day.
Just got my butt into my first Audi, and long story short, I got a truly great deal. Super clean 13’ S5, that was really well kept, properly maintained, and modded very nicely. Full on stage2 with mostly APR parts, APR ECU and TCU tune… had it looked over after I purchased it, and it is legit, and a damn good deal… AC is messed up though …
OK. Ima give a few comments, but I cant watch all the video till later. Headed for leg day, but will watch the entirety later. Ive owned multiple Audi's. A5, S5, S6, and RS5. Audi makes a great ride. But each version has their own issues that pop up. The mere fact that it has all the work done would either scare the shit out of me or give me comfort if I had every part listed that was worked. Never an issue with brakes or handles. But boy, stock up on cardboard for the floor of your garage. Above 75K miles, they leak from........name the gasket or the seal. Sick ride, and Im not hatin. But as previously stated, Ive owned a ton of them.......and If speed is all your after, you will be happy. But, the luxury items that come with a Stinger GT2 interior and, as you know, its not hard to get over 400hp on the KIA......I would take the KIA over Audi, BMW, and Mercedes every damn time. Side note, I lived in Japan from 1991 - 2005 and owned multiple Skyline GT-R's. The quattro really equates to the AWD of the Skyline, and was the reason I owned so many. But, plug n play and interior amenities you get from the KIA make it the best band for your buck. The A/C issues with the R8 is the reason I have never owned one of those. Gotta pull the engine just to fix. Congrats on the new ride though. You will be more than pleased with the performance.
That's sick bro! Love the sound of the engine. Great looking car for being 10 years old, well taken care of and the mods are awesome. Looks like you've found an old gem that's going to be a lot of fun.
I would check for timing chain rattle, there’s no service interval but they are known to rattle bad as a sign of needing replaced. Otherwise , these engines are solid. PCV, water pump/ therm are weak points too but not horrible to change. Have you heard a rattle?? Sick deal bro
Theres actually a TSB from audi on the chain rattle. Its the shitty plastic guides but it doenst mean you have to get them replaced. It doesnt indicate any sort of damage
Congrats Nick, this sounds better than the 3.3 engine by a lot 😮 also would it be more reasonable to just paint the whole car if the paint needs works and has dents, I would go for British racing green with gold/bronze rims! 🔥
Thanks Hasan! Make a good point, I def can’t justify a $5k wrap job that doesn’t last super long. Dipping the car is tempting for the price and it lasts longer than wrap, but paint would prob be best. First things first, I need some healthy logs and AC! 👊
I have a B8 S4, the best exhaust setup I’ve heard on these is either the Valvetronic cat-back exhaust, where you can open and close the valves to make it louder and quieter respectively. Or you could add some Magnaflow mufflers/ resonators and then get some “build your own valved exhaust cutouts” from ECS Tuning. Either option leaves you with the ability to calm it down, while maintaining that track ready and loud ass exhaust.
That’s actually a great idea on the build your own cutouts. I’ll look into that, I’ve gotten quite a few suggestions on Vibrant resonators, have you heard those? Maya flow is a respectable name, I will check those out as well. I’ll prob have a muffler shop do some custom work with those options. Esp now that I broke my rear exhaust hanger going over a speed bump
@@twn2rbo Yeah I’ve heard vibrant is good, I know that Adam at Vancityaudi has a video where he puts some vibrant resonators on with Integrated Engineering downpipes. But currently I’m just running a stock exhaust with a front resonator delete, cause I don’t love the way the X-pipes sound. I have cutouts after my mid resonator so it’s basically muffler delete I can turn on and off, and it sounds really good but not loud when the cutouts are closed.
@@tymichaelis9735 do you have the manual or DSG? Audizine was saying the b8 DSGs (version 1) had a lot of issues, was wondering how yours has held up? I’m debating doing the DSG service now to have a baseline, esp since it’s tuned. The fact that it’s due every 30k makes me a little concerned
@@twn2rbo2016 S5 owner here, experiencing transmission issues like not engaging when letting off from a stop and no reverse. Picked it up with 39.4k miles and now at 50.2k. Didn’t notice any symptoms until over a month after purchase. The most noticeable symptom was when creeping to a stop, the car would jolt a little forward as it auto downshifted from 2-1
Thanks, man! I will go ahead and say the maintenance / reliability on the Stinger is going to be much less expensive. I pushed my stinger very hard, although it had 100 miles on it when I got it and 26k when I dumped it, but it was a very strong engine. These it looks like the common failures are PCV, Water Pump, Thermostat, thankfully those were just replaced. However, the DSG / mechatronics or whatever can go out and that’s like $5k, from what I read. A lot of that has to do with maintenance and service intervals bc I’ve seen B8’s with up to 150k miles modded heavy and still running strong. This one feels strong and looks to have had some love.
Ryan, you are correct! I’m throwing tog a vid with everything I’ve found wrong w this car and that is what was wrong, I orders the blower motor from FCPEuro, since they lifetime warranty all their parts, and it arrived, looks like a 1 hr job no hard at all. I’m going to throw that in the vid! Thanks for leaving a comment though 👊👊
Nice Audi bro!! I love supercharged cars. I use to have a 2003 Mustang Cobra Terminator. I think I actually prefer the sound of the blower over turbos.
Ha! I remember those, those sound 10x better though lol! I still think V8s sound the best, this will prob be the last v6 I tinker with, my plan is to get C63s coupe twin turbo v8 next.
Did he do all the work for coolant pipes and pcv change out? I'd spend some money to replace the coolant cross pipe underneath the supercharger, water pump, pcv, front cross coolant pipe, and get a new coolant tank. Also, front supercharger coolant cross pipe and two rubber hose. Not sure if there is an updated front heat exchanger, but you'll likely need one. At 90k mile, need tons of service - spark plugs, injectors, ignition coils, likely new o2 sensors if not swapped out or no extender adaptor, tcu tune, DSG filter, fluid change and supercharger oil change (got mine done at 94k miles - life of the car per audi is around 120k miles). Once you get those done, you need to keep in mind about the timing chain tick. I have one, and always take it to audi shop or do it yourself. There is a way you have to put bolts in pipes to the head, otherwise, you'll end up spending $5k on re-threading it - and you may have to take the engine out depends on which bolt. If I had to do it again, I'd do it again. Super reliable car. Very well made. It's just that some parts fail at 85-90k miles.
Thanks! He did do the thermostat, PCV and WP 10k miles ago. There is a separate reservoir for the supercharger, looks like a divorced system, Merc heat exchanger on front. For the piping I haven’t looked yet. I think he modified the pin harness that connects under the coolant overflow res, the fans kick on and off when I open the door and after a drive, almost like a turbo timer. I dug into it a little and it seems like the ac intermittent cuts out may be on the same relay, for that I need to have a specialist diagnose. He said he just changed the ac compressor… but who knows. I thought it was a feature on the IE tune, but theirs looks manual where you turn it on and off with the cruise control stock, so this is something wacky going on unfortunately.
@@twn2rbo I have the ie stage 2 tune and it's the cruise control for fan control. When I shut my car off, nothing runs. There is audi oil cycle after you turn the car off stock I think but trying to figure out what's making the fan turn on after ignition off. I'd pull the code then do a visual inspection. It could be simple as a sensor not clicked in to car running too hot. Click on the button on the bottom of the right of where the windshield washer fluid three to four times to get you to the timer (hopefully it's enables already) to see what the oil temp is. I'd do a pressure test on the ac pipes. Could be the ac pressure switch gone bad. It could be up front next to the supercharger pulley where it's gone bad, if the coolant work was done. Ac compressor possibly. Do you have heat?
I plan on wrapping my stinger myself as well, so many wrap shops now a days charge too much to wrap your car (avg quotes $4000-$6000+ USD). It's far more fun to do it yourself anyways because the more you do it yourself the better you get at it.
I agree, if you are just patient and don’t expect perfection , I think it will turn out fine. Nobody but you will notice the really bad parts. You can always go back and re work or wrap those areas. Charging that kind of money is making re consider my day job! You could make some serious loot if you got good and efficient with it!
Hope you kept the 03. Made same exact choice exact same cars. S4 sitting over a year now no one can figure it out while the bugeye is still throwing out the tsu tsu tsu..... everyone cries these are reliable till they own one 😂😂😂 don't get me wrong when they run..... they run!!!!!
Right on! I’m about to upload a video of me just ripping on this thing and some parking garage action. At this point it’s kind of comical lol, but I will def take you guys up on adding some resonators, I’ve seen it makes a big difference. I don’t mind loud, just don’t lake rasp city
So I had the exact same problem with the ac in my Q5, can’t remember the exact code but it was for ac compressor signal implausibility. Ended up replacing the ac pressure switch. Now I’m not saying yours is the exact same issue, but I would at least start with a high grade scan tool like an OBDeleven to see if the hvac system is throwing codes. Hopefully you track it down!
That is awesome! Thanks for letting me know that, he mentioned he just replaced the AC Compressor so you know how that goes, fix one thing something else goes lol. Hopefully it’s something like that, I got him down to $15k and then the day we met at bank the AC decided to stop working and shaved off an extra $2,300. It could work out to my benefit 🤞
@@twn2rbo def start with a VAG specific scan tool that will get you in the right ballpark. It will also give you an idea of whats going on with the cooling fans which im going to guess is the thermostat on the way out.
I bought my b8 90k miles stage 2 with heat exchanger 034 motor mounts intake and many other supporting mods for only 12k clean title I beat 50k cars all the time
It’s a good feeling! I recorded a pretty good launch yesterday, but I’m going to get the DSG serviced before I do any more, just bc I don’t when it was done last. What year is your B8? Any issues with trans ?
@@twn2rbojust seen this I have a 2011 no issue with trans so far I don’t really launch my car a lot. Just water pump and thermostat got replaced and my crank blew up😂 now I have a fluidampr
Bro, cut a hole in your intake. Supercharger will scream. I run a closed APR intake and cut strategic holes and it sounds just like an open intake without the heat soaking I was getting
My carbon AWE box is shot, it’s broken I found out when I did the coils last time, I suppose I could, where did you put them? On the front or side facing fender?
Great Vid.. I bought a 2012 (B8) as a project car in January, bone stock and converted to a B8.5 and did all the mods to it. I picked it up for 10K Canadian and put about that much more in mods with the intention to never sell it.. they are just too fun not to have one.. I know these cars very well and happy to share my mods.. BTW.. open up the air box and the SC whine will come to life!!! I went with an 034 open intake.. and love it !! Cheers
Dude thank you! 034 has agreed to work with me on RU-vid! I’m so excited, my AWE carbon intake is busted, I found that out when doing the coils and plugs. Anyways, thanks for the tip, sick car 10000% and I’m a twin turbo nut
I def want to keep the cats off being stage 2+ though, is that exhaust quieter than my AWE Touring you think? I’ve been suggested some Vibrant resonators as well to add on.
@@twn2rbo It is. Its the only one I've witnessed that's pretty comparable to my custom axle back setup. And its nothing more than a pair of borla mufflers and tips.
@@the.wanginator that’s a good idea, I didn’t think of a custom setup. This muffler shop said they could do something to keep it high flow but eliminate rasp, I think their resonators are universal but look awful close to the Vibrant ones. I think they are like $130 each. First things first though, getting all the things that need fixed first, I look forward to it though, these cars are amazing values!
@@twn2rbo ya they are, I've had mine since 2016. Just ran through it and refreshed a lotta stuff. Finally off stock suspension, just did chains, tensioners and all that madness. Runs and drives like new again. Well, better than new!
@@the.wanginator nice, man! What spec do you have? Are you B8.5 with manual or DSG? I’m glad I have the 2nd gen DSG, been digging into the Audi forums to learn about the platform.
@@twn2rbo its been hard to figure out cant tell if i want older and more special or newer and more basic... been looking for my replacement first then selling.
You seem like a really cool guy, and the video was awesome until the driving part... Why do you have the camera aimed at your face man? It's blocking all the views, and we can hear you just fine without having to look at you the entire time. The best videos have the camera pointing the other way out front, especially in a POV angle so we can see the speedo, dash and everything else out front. I really wish people would make the video about the car, and not about themselves hoping to become "youtube famous" . I'm not saying that's why you're doing this, but it's so frustrating seeing all of these potentially amazing videos getting destroyed because the person aims the camera at themselves while driving.
Nice S4! My b8.5 S5 is pretty much an identical build to this except I’m on a different pulley ratio. Our times and trap speed are close as well. What area are you in?
Thanks bro! North Side Indianapolis, I would love to collab with a S4 owner that’s modded for a video, I think that would be good for being so new to the platform
There isn’t a service interval for timing chains, that would be a belt system. Chains are life of engine, however it is an Audi and the tensioners are known to go bad on other Audi engines. I will be keeping an ear open on cold starts for the death rattle, in that case engine would have to come out and there’s 4 timing chains on the back on this engine 😅
Sorry sir! You haven't heard my B7 V8 straight piped Audi that's sitting at almost 450 horses. She's legit louder than this Audi! Definitely not as fast as this one though!
Nice find. An open air box will definitely produce the whine you are looking for. Seems like the bumper is ibis white and the car is glacier white (hint of blue). I had a 2014 in a similar spec. They are great cars.
@@haterllnationwhat's protecting the paint for rock chips and chipping ? Nothing that's why paint jobs are a waste until u spend another 2k for ppf lol
8:50 definitely keep the RS4 grill on it! I wanted to swap my B7 S4 Avants grill with an RS4 grill but unlike you, I only make 16.50 an hour and I never have money to throw at my Audi and when I do it's only because I have to get something fixed! Had an oil leak last year that cost me 4 grand to fix! I legit walked out of there feeling like the mechanics bent me over raw and didn't even tickle my balls first! Makes me wish I paid attention more in Highschool when my group of friends were all getting into working on/fixing their cars and I was too busy indoors playing video games!
Nope!!!!! Theres more then 2 ibis whites from Audi. I know, I had to paint match my ultra rare b8 audi 4cylinder turbo s4. Only 200 ever made so yes you are gonna say they don't exist but im here to say otherwise.
For exhaust just get a cat back awe tuning or track. For the intake an open intake from any vendor will definitely bring out the whine. Your almost at the 100k mark and a lot of maintenance items should be done already or getting ready to done like injectors, carbon clean, water pump, thermostat, timing chain, valve cover gasket, oil filter housing and pcv. Luckily some enthusiasts made a more robust thermostat and a diy pcv set up that will last longer then oem and is easily changeable
AWE touring is on now, thankfully the water pump, therm, PCV was done 10k ago. But I’m sure it def needs to be walnut blasted.. so far no oil leaks 🤞 but I’m concerned on the injectors , I’m about to swap plugs, having misfires.
In the uk in 2007 a 2k car (vauxhall corsa b with a c20let engine) with front wheel drive and 6k in mods would run 9s 10s at santapod raceway with only a 2.0 litre in it. I dont find todays numbers impressive for the cost etc
My wife drives a B8, fantastic to drive around but problems pop up every 6 months or so. Excellent road trip car. Luckily we have a reliable independent Audi mechanic we go to, where I’m from; Botswana the total bill is never more than $150 per issue and we buy a lot of our parts from South Africa so I’d chuck it off to the cost of ownership. It’s been 2 years and 28,000 miles on it. We got it at 55,000 miles. (I’ve converted for my US people). PCV Replaced Front upper and lower control arms replaced Aux water pump replaced Top timing cover replaced Currently we need to replace: Oxygen Sensor Booster pipe service; there is a small leak So I’m getting some rough idle on it. I prefer to have a somewhat quiet car so i can enjoy music. The popping shit annoys me so much. It was cool to see it on DDE channel back in the day but its not realistic in everyday life unless its on the highway away from neighborhoods. S4 is on the top of my list. 350hp is good enough for me but maybe do a Stage 1 or 2. Make the stock a little spicy. Oh i see this vid is months old. Can't wait to see it now!!!
Beautiful car but now days the bmw b58 is king , with less then 2500$ you get to 500hp like nothing b58 is the modern 2jz an engine capable of 750hp on stock block, don’t get me wrong the s4 is a beauty but no match for the b58 ,when you’ll drive a tune 340 /440 you’ll understand
If you get a chance, if you could just reach out or maybe touch base. I have a similar car with the same motor and i'm looking to somewhat get to that level so you know any kind of performance list so I could look at it and put it against what I have in mind would be greatly appreciated. Wish you the best
How many SC intercoolers did he give you? 😂 Get an obdeleven to figure out what cylinder is misfiring and keep an eye on your coolant level. If cylinder 3 or 6 is misfiring, could be coolant leaking from the SC into the cylinder. Also, a magnaflow or borla res xpipe on the downpipes will tame the volume and rasp. Check out my catless exhaust setup.
I just bought almost the same exact B8 from my buddy. Glacier white Lowered on Billstein coils, rs4 grill, and just full sleeper. Had the same experience with the AC. I turned it on one day and it wasn’t working at all and then like 30 minutes later just started blowing cold air.
O34 dp paired with awe touring sounds fantastic imo. I’m full stage 2+ 450 wheel and I think it sounds perfect. Has an exoticish sound. Big difference from my straight pipe
Yeah! If you watch some more of my vids I just had a place do the aux cooling pump on mine, the coolant loop was divorced and it took some deep diving to fix my issue. My cooling fan would turn on full blast for 5 mins after I shut the car off. Ended up being a grand too I think lol. That’s Audi,.. it’s always a grand bro
I've yet to get a stinger to race any of my cars. Why you buy if you don't run it?? makes zero sense. Buy the Forte and call it a day. Pocket 40K Also be careful using water-alcohol injection when it comes to aluminum blocks. $12,500 was his purchase price for those wanting to know.
🔥 it’s funny cause I still wanna get my stinger but that was one of the cars I wanted before that. I might be in the minority but I like super Charged better than turbo.
This is my first supercharged car and the sounds it makes is so cool, but one thing for sure is there is no lag with the throttle, it’s instant when you mash it! These things have aged quite well. I met with with a new Stinger we TCU tuned in my garage yesterday and we both went out to record some launches, the S4 is still faster 💨
I have a 2015 sepang blue audi s4. Bought from audi at 26k , tuned 1 Apr next day. Next week stage 2 Apr , roc euro intake, upgraded supercharger pulley+ belt. I am now at 128k. Only issue I’ve had was the timing chain being replaced. Pricey but worth it. This is my ultimate sleeper with the outside completely stock. Was told 450-500 crank hp. I’ve raced Daytona chargers and pulled on them even at higher speeds.
Only time I hear whine on any of the supercharged cars I've had was with stock pulleys and a Cia or open intake. Upgrade the pulleys and it diminishes.
Yeah man this things screams so loud with headers and no cats lol. I’m not even going to try. You can hear it outside the car but yeah. If you have IG, I just uploaded a couple of clips doing some pulls from the next vid going up
From a performance standpoint, there is not much you can do. Someone knew ehat they ere doing and they didn't hold back on this one. I konda like the fact it looks stock, that's a perfect daily sleeper.
That’s what I’m think too , I’m after the performance, it’s already lowered so that looks cool. I just need paint match that bumper. But once I do a mod, I can’t stop until it’s done lol
I will say, it’s some of the best “cheap horsepower” one can get. I did countless research on the 3.0t and it’s the best engine Audi has ever made to this day. It will take a lot of abuse. If you get one with good maintenance records and take care of it, you will be very happy! I’m about to make a RU-vid video with one of the most insane Stinger builds and he gaps all kinds of cars, but there’s a Jackal tuned e40 S4 that beat him. That supercharger is instant when you floor it
I love the older s line Audis. I put a clip on a b5 imola yellow 6spd in my last vid. Also, the new b9.5 RS5 was veryyyyy comfortable. Always been a huge fan of Audis lines, I think that’s one of the reasons I love the Stinger GT so much, it was designed by Audis Peter S.
