I’d really recommend FC Kaiserslautern in Germany…they are so crazy for their football there. I also remember paying about 80 quid for a hotel there although the computers there didn’t work (had a phone with no Wi-Fi at the time!), brilliant atmosphere at the stadium!

Faroe Islands! Stunning scenery not too far and a thriving league for a country the size of Falkirk!

I love how you just get chatting to ppl randomly about the place , always a great way to go about stuff. Love getting to hear ppl talk about clubs like this that they love. Crazy you said braga and he is from there. It’s a small world.

Another great video. I bought a flight to Geneva for £45 in 2014. It was so expensive when I was there (other than maybe public transport). Crazy prices for pretty much everything else (food and drink etc). You might not find it so expensive if used to Edinburgh prices!

The prices are quite reasonable in Switzerland. In New Zealand, where I live, you couldn't get a return trip from Auckland to Christchurch for 91 pounds ($180.00 NZD), it would cost quite a bit more. It would be great to see you down under. The Wellington Phoenix are riding high in the A League, and an expansion team from Auckland will be joining the A League next season. This time of year is the best time to visit NZ, weather is brilliant, and it's halfway through the A League season.

Hi Sam, glad you seemed to have a good time! I've been fortunate enough to visit Geneva twice (mainly to visit CERN), it's a spectacular place. Obviously you were focusing on the football stuff for the video but I hope you get to visit again as a proper tourist to see the sights, the old town for example is beautiful and you can go up to the top of the cathedral for a small fee, the views from there are incredible. There's also a combined pizzeria/bowling alley - if it still exists - somewhere just out of town, took the tram to get there. Used to see sports cars zooming up the waterfront as well. Watching this made me miss the place!

Great video Sam, visited Geneva last April for Servette v St. Gallen. Great stadium - 30,000 capacity - but their average gate is 8 - 10,000. Great atmosphere tho, walked to the ground from Carouge via the underpass you showed. Terrific experience!

I was in Geneva last weekend. The trains from the airport used to be free to the city centre. Did find it a bit expensive but was only there a night.

Loved the trip to the top tier but only getting to see the lower leagues. Very much on point for this channel as your coverage of the Scottish lower leagues is so good. Glad you were able to tell more of the history of the smaller clubs. It just adds to the enjoyment I gain. As to where you should go in the future, come to the US for the Copa America and maybe catch Sporting Kansas City verse Inter Miami in Arrowhead Stadium.

Brilliant Sam, love these travel videos you do. Went to Switzerland a few weeks back and stayed in Lausanne which is not far from Geneva, visited the olympic museum which was awesome. Nyon is also nearby as well which is the home of uefa. Then travelled down to chur via Zurich and took regional train via St Moritz to Tirano in Italy commonly known as the Bernina express but by getting regional train it was a fraction of the cost and was incredible, the scenery was epic. Then got train from Tirano to Bergamo and flew back to the UK from there. You could do same route and take in a game at Atalanta or go back to Milan 👍🙂🇮🇹 Keep up the great work Sam

Next time you want to go to Switzerland, go to Basel. From there you can cross the Rhine into Germany, or there's another border crossing in the city into France. Germans and French work together and go back to their country every day. Insane!

If you ever get the chance head to Vienna. First Vienna who are in the second division play at the Hohe Warte Stadium which is a natural bowl. (similar to how Chalton used to be). The council now only allow 5,500 nowaddays but back in the 1920s they allowed people to stand on the banks and the largest crowd was 85,000 when Austria played Italy in 1923. Which was the largest football crowd in mainland Europe. If you ask the stewards very nicely (and enter from the top entrance) they sometimes allow a couple of people to walk around the grass banks during the game which during a night game is pretty amazing.

The flights from Stansted were £26 return each, we got a room (not as nice as yours !) at £17 each for TWO nights, so we could really explore the historic Old Town and did an amazing day trip to Zakopane in the Tatra mountains in between .... You paid £2.75 for a train from Geneva Airport to the city ? Our bus from Krakow International to the Old Town (11 km) was .... 80p (400 PLN) ! and it dropped us right outside Cracovia FC before taking a tram four stops to our room. Wisla Krakow is literally the other side of the road across a park (like Liverpool & Everton) and we visited both during our stay. idea for the future for you ? You'd love the history and architecture of Krakow too ...

Northern Spain Ath Bilbao loads of lower league teams around Bilbao. You got Santander great city and football club.. Then accoss to San Sebastian and Socidad and smaller clubs like Real Union etc love there football in Northern Spain.

The train from the airport to the city used to be free. There was machines in arrivals which would produce free vouchers.

To note is that the Liechtensteiner football pyramid is assimilated into the Swiss one. FC Vaduz is the highest-ranking club currently in the Challenge League (and has spent some time in the Super League), however everyone else is further down--the second-highest club as of the 2022-23 season is USV Eschen/Mauren which plays in the fourth tier (1. Liga Classic).

as far as i know (i'm from Switzerland) there is not a single stadium here where they offer guided stadium tours. Letzigrund in Zürich is open for the public, but no guided tour.
