I live in Syria, I'm 11, despite the ongoing war here and the bad economic conditions, my dad bought me a violin with 25$ so I can learn how to play. He always says that the only way to forget the war horrors is to listen and play your own music. You are wonderful, Rob. I love you so much
Dear Elenda, please also get a guitar. Learn some chords. Do the same with piano (keyboard?). I am shure it is possible to get cheap instruments. Music is not only classical. You know the Beatles? Good luck and God bless you.
I like people with long brain. I have long amount of disl*kes btw. Why? Maybe people with short brain disl*ke because jealous of my long amount of subscr*bers. Please have long brain, dear bria
@@abhaychandra2624 Captain here: Violent sounds like Violin with a "T" at the end. And his joke was a playful way to write violin whilst meaning violent. Captain out.
I think it’s funny how he demonstrated situations where your instrument could get damaged but he’s not considered most of us violinists would rather break ourselves than let our instruments get even the smallest dent
My violin is about 119 years old I got it from my music school and it sound SO good my teacher is always telling me that I can have a new one bc that one Is so old but when I try the new ones it sounds like ✨trash✨ (well, it sounds 1000000000 times worse then mine) but then he asks me to give it to someone to fix the look but I like it more when its older :^ so I just say "wait untill I finish my violin classes and then let someone fix it" :P
This is crazy to see, since I got my violin from Shar Music in Michigan where they set these up! Some years back I lived in Michigan and used to drive by them regularly. I had always wanted one, so I finally stopped in and got one on impulse. Literally on my lunch break. They did a great job selling me one even on short notice, and played several for me to find the one I liked the sound of best. This last year, I finally picked it up and really started to try to learn it. It's been a real joy and the satisfaction of making progress with it has been great. I've just started to be able to play things like the 1st mvmt of Summer from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Or the Mario Bros. theme at proper speed. :P I feel like I have so much room to grow with the instrument. I'm so glad after seeing this that I went there instead of ordering a cheap one online.
I dropped an expensive instrument once, but then it started floating, until it flew away to Cremona… Good violin, Bad birdie. Just kidding, never would drop my instrument, or any instrument for that matter
Wow. I thought the white one sounded okay when you played on it. I bet you sound better on all these than I would on a stradivarius. (I played a viola in middle school...but they had to restring a violin to fit the size for me. I bet you can imagine how lovely that sounded...)
Any voilin that makes a sound and is playable deserves to be played, there are lots of poor students who cannot afford an instrument, could have just donated it
Best use I've found for a cheap violin. Put a cigar box guitar neck in it and have a 3 string git-fiddle. At least then you do have a better sound than a cigar box.
It would sound much better. The strings manufacturers put there are the worst thing about the cheap violin. Sometimes the bridge sucks as well. More quality strings can make a difference. Cheap violin with better strings can be good option for a beginner or kid. Here, somebody will say: "No, it sounds bad, this will make the beginner quit." But honestly, every violin sounds bad in hands of beginner. No difference if they play cheap violin with replaced strings or a violin that costs a million.
ohh?? that video is so insteresting until I watch some violin are being destroyed.🥺🥺🥺.. I'm having such a very cheap violin and I'm so careful with it.😊.. seeing intruments destroying is so painful to watch 🥺🥺🥺
I know this may sound like a dumb question, but i wonder what a gutair sounds like being played with a violin bow? Would it be low sounding or higher pitched?
Thanks Rob for saying if you are bad at playing it's the violins' fault.... I am so bad at playing I will definitely blame it on the violin from now onward :P
Was that last durability test with violin in case under a truck wheel for real! If so, truly amazing. I guess most of the violins sounded horrible for you under the ear, but in the the recordings I must say I was surprisingly impressed by all of them. For these super cheap instruments I would consider tunability, string height and bridge shape the most important. Playability in any other position than first position is completely irrelevant. Regarding the non existing notches in the bridges and the flat shape of the bridges one can almost think they put an effort in actually trying to get it as worse as possible. It takes 10 seconds to google a template for a standard bridge and another 10 seconds to file four notches. It wouldn’t raise the price with even a dollar.
I paid a whopping $79 for a Mendini and it's actually not horrible. The bow was firewood, a changed the strings, and the pegs were almost fitted correctly. Over all, it's a pretty OK camp fire fiddle.
