Today we bought some of the most venomous and dangerous snakes on the planet. We went to the Columbia South Carolina Repticon to pick up our new pair of coastal taipans and our russells viper. They were mean to me, and tried to bite. I did not let them.
Check out www.visionprod... if you're interested in the high quality vision enclosures used in this video.

@@brianphillips7696 yesterday I went for a very cautious walk. Passing through a small area of long dead grass and sticks I was hyper vigilant. And yep, 30 metres into it a 4 foot eastern brown was there, completely motionless. Eventually I poked it gently with a stick. It took off like a rocket, clearly not dead. I probably would have been if not 100% focused on the potential danger.

@hair2050
@hair2050 Месяц назад
@@TheYugilicious no. Never done so before. After a few minutes I was being to think that it was dead. I assure you. Very gentle touch. I was well out of the way. Snake wasn’t unduly harassed. It would have soon needed to find a warm stop for the night anyway. It’s skin was unusually dull, this added to my, is it dead, question. It was unusually dark, blackish, for a brown snake. Too dull for a back snake, and I got a look under it, no red. Too thick for an eastern taipan snake I think. But its head was small, so I don’t know. It was a little too thick for your average black snake. Just spent 30 minutes reading up on snakes in my area, (mid north coast of NSW). I can’t come up with a better candidate than my first, considered, impression, a brown snake. Nothing else is a closer match. I am somewhat perturbed reading that it venom can kill in less than 30 minutes and is arguably the fastest acting venom in the world. My general caution, simply not walking in these dangerous areas when the conditions are such that I can’t reliably see snakes.

Hey Joey...I am from India. Russell's Viper has a unique ability which no snake possess. I have seen video of a snake rescuer getting bitten by a 5 feet plus RV when he has holding its tail at the edge of it and tail about 3 feet above the ground and its body on the ground, the RVs body was fully stretched as if it was trying go forward moving away from the rescuer and suddenly it just plummeted it whole body backward and stuck his hand. Experienced rescuers in India know that this snake can strike in any direction and its super intelligent , it will pretend to be casual not interested and when least expected it will strike and this snake will 100/100 time bites when it strikes. Indian cobras have another name called good snake, because they don't bite all the time when they strike. But this one will strike 100/100 times and its venom is deadly hemotoxin making the part of the body rot. Russell's viper bite will always deform the place of bite. So please see some bite videos of any new snake you handle and understand its behavior before even handling it. I hope you and think you will doing this precaution before handling any new snake. RV can strike from the inside the rescue bag also. These snakes don't lay eggs , they carry the eggs inside and give birth to snakes so they have evolved to survive at a great extent.

Such rare Australian snakes. At this rate you’ll probably find a nice Red Bellied Black Snake for sale somewhere. Seems like cost is of little concern. Lucky 😉. I’m glad this channel is doing well because it shows more responsible snake handling than say Chandler, Tyler Nolan, or DavidsFeed. They say they’re trying to get people to understand snakes more and not be so afraid, but then all they do is tease their snakes so they hood up and strike and such, giving the impression to the layman that snakes are way more psycho than they really are. It’s also mean to the snakes because it stresses the heck out of them. Some people don’t even realize that when a snake hoods it’s usually because you’re putting it on the defensive. Let alone when they start striking and such. Chandler for instance walks right into his King Cobras enclosure, and King Cobras are ultra-territorial so he just flipped his hiding spot and goes from 1-60 effing around. Tyler’s bite was from him teasing the eff out of an already shedding and stressed King Cobra. So yeah they do some good by educating people but they know they get more views if the snake is doing “crazy” defensive stuff, and I think that’s really harmful. Even Dingo who is so charming pushes the limits to get the snakes acting crazy. Then there’s the free handling which DavidsFeed is probably the biggest culprit, but Tyler and Chandler do it as well. You can tell people that you’re an expert and that nobody should copy you, but you know there’s people out there who are gonna do it because they say you do it. And it’s basically unnecessary. You should always use your tools. With King Cobra there’s some leeway but yeah. Such irresponsibility. “MikesReptiles” I think it’s called it probably the most down to earth keeper on RU-vid. His snakes are mostly all chill because they aren’t being teased all the time.
@wolfpecker5710
@wolfpecker5710 Месяц назад
Yeah, you see way too many people free handling venomous snakes on RU-vid for views. I do like Chandler, Tyler, and Dingo, but I definitely agree that they all take extremely unnecessary risks when handling their snakes! The worst in my opinion is this relatively new RU-vidr called Wrangler Nick or something like that.

More toxic venom, yes. But Coastals are much more dangerous to interact with due to their erratic behavior and demeanor.
@ianlowery6014
@ianlowery6014 26 дней назад
@@Callmethelamp It is not more toxic, it is more potent (a smaller amount to kill you). To determine how deadly a snake is, multiply the potency of the venom by the average amount injected per bite, multiply that by the average number of bites, multiply that by the probability that the snake will bite you when it feels cornered, and multiply that by an aggression factor. The coastal taipan is much more aggressive and injects a lot more venom. It also bites many times. The coastal taipan is a much more dangerous snake than the relatively placid inland taipan.

I kind of doubt it, any serious keeper of venomous species will have snakebite materials on hand when dealing with snakes as well as a go to plan for if they are bitten. Deaths by snakebite are really rare in more developed countries even if you get bitten. I think it's more likely to be something like a motor accident, underlying heart issues or even just old age tbh

@@agentvictoria4021 I would expect that Joey has Crofab and Indian big 4 antivenin on hand which would be effective on most of what he has. Coastal Taipan antivenin may be hard to source outside of Australia, and is different from Inland Taipan or Brown Snake antivenin if I recall.

Didn't know Repticon does venomous shows too. I went to a regular Repticon last month in Denver, good selection that wasn't 99% Ball Pythons. I've heard the claim that the Saw Scaled viper is responsible for the most snakebite deaths is highly disputed, it might have to do with the Saw Scale having a range that goes from Africa all the way to SE Asia. Within India the Russel's is the undisputed deadliest snake, and in India Saw Scaled vipers are only responsible for 4% of all snakebites, and is the least deadly of the India big 4. You're definitely brave getting those Coastal Taipans, that was one of the snakes that Steve Irwin was VERY reluctant to work with because of their ability to come up the full length of their body VERY quickly and having a long strike range and generally aggressive personality.
