Also, for the record, I am not affiliated with this company in any way. When my research turned up these as an option, it felt right. I'm a strong believer in following my own instincts. I encourage you to do the same and choose a speaker that feels right to you.

Hi mate, yeah see if you can loan a pair for the day. They should work well in your room in the horizontal plane, as they're designed to work on a console more so than vertically. The throw is more spread out on the horizontal plane.

Had them over a year, replaced them with the KH120 and now i have the Unity Super Rock and... never thought a small company sounds better in every part. The 310 are def a awesome Speaker, but now as a can compare i would def buy again my Unity's. Its not only the AMT, its the overall sound, details, imaging, depth, Lowend Performance. But i loved the 310, at the end its just taste and also the overall sounding between the Neumann 310's and Unity SuperRocks are different :-)

I got started with KH120s as alts to my trusty Dynaudio BM15s. I retired the Dyns and upgraded to KH310s which was a revelation... but my world changed when adding the KH750 DSP! Adding a sub comes with challenges (especially in a small studio) but the 750 with the MA-1 lets the system tune itself to your room... it doesn't just try and "flatten" the room, it time aligns the phase and creates an EQ curve for the best fit within your acoustic space. I've just ordered the new NDH-30 headphones - so, I'm all in on Neumann!

That's really good to hear. I'm going to see if I can do without the sub for now, but would you say that it changed the experience of listening to the low-end? My concern is that it will sound disjointed again because it would be coming from the ground like the Yamaha HS50M's paired with the sub.

@@SPLMixing I could happily mix without the sub as the 310s have good tight low end... but adding the sub just extended that. I built a custom stand for my sub to sit off the floor just behind and between my mains. It's absolutely cohesive and because it's in charge of bass management/phase etc. it's like having a pair of big 4 ways, like PMCs, in front of me. I am unaware I have a sub until I play signals that dip down to 30Hz and below (and shake the house!). To be honest it doesn't work that hard, which is my intention... having a dedicated midrange means your vocals aren't being created at the crossover point at the bottom range of a tweeter and top range of a woofer - if the bass is making the woofer travel a lot it surely can't be delivering the same performance as a dedicated midrange. So, having the sub lessens the load on the 310s woofer giving it more focus on the low mids. 30 years and 6 studios later I have finally found "the sound" ;-)
