Narrator: As Scott observes his colleague Paru test out his brand new, pricey hammer, he could not help himself but cringe when Paru smashes the hammer into another. Scott with the atmost restraint, could no longer hold himself back and comments "Be careful you scratched it" in a joking manner, in an attempt to conceal his true emotion out of fear of being seen as a frugal man
Got one, love it. I've swung a lot of hammers and the M1 really saves my arm during demo. And the grip is such a simple thing, but it has a tackiness that makes me dislike all my other hammers. Necessary? No. But I do enjoy it tremendously.
I don’t really get spending £250 for a Martinez hammer . I barely use my Estwing nowadays for knocking nails in , just use the nail gun . Hammer is used for tapping timber in place and pulling out bent nails .
Love watching your videos. You have helped me through lockdown in the uk and helped me realise I need to be the carpenter I use to be,before i worked for a general builder.love what you do 🙂
I absolutely love Diablo blades but you are 100% correct about painted blades. It doesn’t transfer the paint straight away but over time definitely does
I love this series so much. Have you ever thought of doing "how to" videos? Like basics for people getting into carpentry and building? How to find and set angles, tips and tricks for finding measurements, things like that. The kind of stuff you don't learn in school but will learn from experienced guys on site!
You guys are just the best. Love the video. Just made my day. Hope you guys have a great rest of your week! Maybe one day, I too, may have a wicked awesome Martinez Hammer.
No better way to start a day, let alone a Friday, than with a Scott Brown vid....have a good day mate, and a great weekend!!!! Cheers from across the Ditch!!!!
So the paint usually wears off a blade due to friction and heat, it's impossible to stop it because any prolonged work with a saw will of course cause heat and friction, so you just gotta make sure that the material doesn't clamp down on it.
Hi Scott! Great work mate, glad to see more vids from yous and learn more since I am doing building apprenticeship here in Welly. Just a question tho if you don’t mind, why no insulation?
Im guessing the insulatipn is already above in the skillion roof? Probably would have used the space to max out more insulation in there myself, but the client probably didn't want to fork out for it perhaps
Lol when it went to the clip of the bird on the antenna. In the back ground you could hear the nail gun and then the bird looked like it fell over dead lol No birds were harmed in the making of this film 😂😂
I found an eastwing hammer on a roof joist in one old house I'm renovating i ask the owner of the house if he owns it, he said we just bought the house he gave it to me he said its yours now so now i still have and love it
I went from Stanley antivibe, to stanley framing hammer, to vaughan titanium and now switch between that and the Martinez M1. If you're in the market fro a new speed square, check out Martinez red headed square, love mine, super sweet to use
I've been using a Hart framing and trim hammer since the early 90s... Hart tool was the inventor of the original California framer. An employee of Hart, left to create Douglas hammers, which is now your Vaughan.... TTI, Milwaukee's parent company ownes Hart and Stiletto. I think that's why Martinez left to start his own line. I dont know if Deluge is still making hammer's....
Hi Scott brown something I picked up your glueing ontop of the malthoid. We have found certain glues wat away at the malthoid and turn them into a sticky mess which defeats the purpose of packing it
@Scott Brown Carpentry. I agree with you Scott. All power tools that use a change tool like wrenches need on-board tool storage. I have Makita's 18x2 rear handle circular saw and it doesn't have on-board storage for the blade wrench. Bummer. Hope you, Pearau's, and your families stay safe and well.
man seeing that makes me miss my estwing. was gifted on 7 years ago by the first carpenter i worked with. he had it 12 years before that. lost it 2 years ago at a job site
Fantastic video as always. Lots of great tips. Thanks for the unit conversion, but feel free to put metric as the primary. We all know metric should be the world standard! : )
Because gravity doesn’t take a day off, are the nails shot in on an angle? And when using pin nails for a ceiling, would it be a case of, the longer the nail the better?
Can I ask why you are not using the spare room above the plywood, to in prove the insulation of the roof. By installing rockwool or glasswool. In Denmark were I am from we are using 250mm insulation on the roof in new house today. Is heating/cooling cheap for you guys? Thank you for the great videos.
Tue Maack-Krommes ... it’s crazy that they doesn’t do it ... I live in Canada and I’m from Germany and here in Canada it’s the same. No one doesn’t here too. Soundproofing or just better insulation to save energy is unknown. The main reason is the cost of power is much cheaper then in the EU.
It’s Auckland, the weather is not like Canada or Germany. They barely ever see under 10 degrees c, And over 30 is rare as well - and it looks like the windows are single glazed as well. We also don’t do central heating/cooling here either.
The sign says Drive to the Conditions and the first thing you see is a car cut across in front of the vehicle in the next lane. And, does it always rain in New Zealand?
Do you think a titanium hammer is really worth the price they are ?, sometimes in a general purpose hammer you a bit of weight, and those long shafts, for a tight job they get in the way. They do look nice .
Hey Scott, would you recommend your corded Makita Track Saw or the cordless you tried out? I have a Festool midi and wondering if the brushless cordless convenience beat the corded auto vacuum convenience? Big Fan from Alabama!
No some guy weighed them both they are the same weight. Stiletto tb3 has a lot of vibration in it. Martinez is a fucking weapon of a hammer, close to a dead blow hammer. No vibration at all.
@@kickyourfaceandlaugh607 well i'm the only 1 on my site with a martinez and about 6 stilettos. Maybe 2 oz is an exaggeration but everyone will say the martinez is heavier if only by a fraction. Like not noticeable enough unless you're holding both hammers at the same time
my favorite part was the sign of the highway telling you to gently drive to the conditions, in France the signs basicaly tell you to slow down or you'll freaking die haha
@@adammacer spend money on hobbies that you rarely do? I have the Martinez titanium square, hammer, pry bar, nail puller those are the best use of titanium tools that I use everyday for work for 12 hours.
Was that a Hitachi battery charger I heard at the beginning of the film? What is the deal with the fan noise? I thought mine was about to break. Like the cooling fan bushings are dry and about to seize.
I,'ve been mulling over buying a Martinez framing hammer, they are quite expensive at aroung £250 GBP and I don,t really need one but I think that I will splash out and order one. I just need to decide whether to get the star warsnthemed limited edition white and black one,or just the regular one. We do live our tools! 😁
Owner didn't want some insulation under the ply or was there already a cavity above? Always enjoy the vids and content, nice to see you on the shore ;)
The carbides on the blade are wider than the dimensions of the blade, So unless your binding, the painted part of the blade shouldn't really touch the wood.
