Welcome to Jurong East, a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. My viewers always told me to come here and finally, I am here for the first time. I brought my passport just in case. What's Jurong like? Will I use my passport? Join me as I explore this town.

I know you have difficulty filming in malls, but there's an ice skating rink at Jcube Level 3. For night Hawker Centre, best would be Boon Lay Village known for Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak that opens till 3-4am before covid, not sure about now. There's also morning/day hawker centres like Taman Jurong Hawker Centre, Yuhua Place, Yuhua Village (Yuhua Place is opposite Chinese Garden MRT, Yuhua Village is the one you went to. They are 2 different hawker centres), Jurong West 505 Hawker Centre, Jurong West Blk 492 area has many many coffeeshops and Takagi Ramen known Singaporeans to be cheap and good and opened by Ai Takagi and her Singaporean husband. They also have outlets in Chong Pang, AMK, Downtown East, Woodlands and one-north.

The drink stall which you bought your coffee from at Yuhua Hawker Centre, hands down one of the cheapest drink stall I am aware of. Hot drinks like tea and coffee that easily cost $1.10 to $1.30 elsewhere just cost 80 to 90 cents there. The stall owner also opens during the 1st 2 days of Chinese New Year (during which most hawkers will take a rest and close shop), and maintains the same price on their drink for that 2 days (when other stalls that choose to open will easily add a surcharge of 50 cents to $1 for their food)!

Come back and explore Jurong again, explore Taman Jurong locale next time, alight at Lakeside MRT take a stroll or cycle along the renovated Jurong Lake Garden - Stopover at Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre for lunch, I recommend ButterNut for their smoked duck thin crust pizza. Its rare to get such good Western fusion food in the west. - Probably take photos around block 63 to 66 Yung Kuang Road aka Diamond Block, its a local iconic building. - You can go continue further end of Yuan Ching Road to Jurong SuperBowl, I used to bowling with my friends there. I personally resonates the place to Johor, because of the open-air carpark and supermarket.

Oh, you missed Jurong Lake Gardens further down. Even though it doesn't have the iconic structures of Chinese & Japanese Gardens, it still holds it's weight in terms of landscaping. It is pretty & big, I spent about 4 hours exploring the place. There are dog run park, playgrounds, eatery, instagrammable lalang fields with small hills, swimming pool, gym, man-made beach, community gardens, the famous lone "tree", and recently they just added Singapore's largest wetlands park. All within Jurong Lake Gardens. As a nature lover, and even though it's man-made, I would go as far to say that Jurong Lake Gardens is the jewel of Jurong.

Hey Ghib you can consider visiting Jurong Bird Park and Jurong Hill Park. In the 1960s-1980s, important foreign visitors would visit Jurong Hill Park to plant trees and look at the Jurong Industrial Estate. You can catch a view of Jurong Island atop the hill too. Other suggestions would include Yun Nan Garden at NTU, Jurong Lake Gardens (access from Lakeside), and Jurong West 505 Market and Food Center

The areas you have visited is either a more commercialised area (Jurong East) and also a quieter neighbourhood (at the time of your visit as Yuhua market is morning market). For a more activities in Jurong be sure to visit Jurong West, Taman Jurong and Boon Lay. Morning - Blk 505 Jurong West market (it's crazy there but be sure to try the chwee quey, laksa and CCK) for breakfast Afternoon - Make a trip to Jurong Lake park (you can go for the instragrammable spots where wedding photos are taken) + Chinese Garden (when it reopens). Evening - Visit the Taman Jurong Hawker Centre (famous fishball noodle/laksa on level 2, really good fish soup and sambal seafood on level 3, curry fishhead on level 2) or Boon Lay Hawker Centre (be sure to try the satay and bbq chicken wings, and also the famous boon lay nasi lemak) for dinner. Others - Bird park is nearby too (before they move to Mandai soon) so that's also another afternoon activity. A more local mall that has been here for the longest is Jurong Point @ Boon Lay MRT, there's Malaysia Boleh for Msia food, Hong Kong street for Hong Kong food, and basement we also have the Japanese Street for Jap food. Hope you have fun the next time!

Jurong is huge and is a combination of Jurong East and Jurong West. You've only been to some parts of Jurong East, and at the wrong timing and period. The main gardens are closed and only the new west side of the garden is opened. And you're probably went to the market in the late afternoon hence most stalls are usually closed by then. There's the first and only Olympic-sized ice-skating rink at JCube, as it's told. A science centre, a snow centre nearby and of course the garden attractions. So if JE is ulu, many other parts of Singapore are very very ulu lol...

The hawker centre you went to is a morning food centre. Has the cheapest yet really good chicken rice stall there. Still can get a plate of chicken rice for $2. Rice is fragrant, tasty yet not too oily, and chicken is yummy. Go in mid-afternoon to avoid the long queue. Fei Fei wanton noodle behind it is very popular in the morning. Usually sold out by lunchtime. Be prepared for the queue also. There's also a carrot cake stall that's quite nice but usually closed by afternoon. And a fish soup stall alongside Indian food stalls that makes very good fish soup. Also gotta queue. That uncle pointed out the popular porridge stall as well. In the night, you can find quite good bbq stingray and zhi char.

Jurong Hill Park, a.k.a old JTC summit beside Jurong Bird Park - you can find trees planted by many overseas VVIP in the 1970s, but, you need good stamina to climb to the top though, where you can have a good view of the whole Jurong estate 😊

omg you came to where i stay! yuhua village :D the market is a morning market, most stalls will close in the PM. you really missed some of the interesting stuff at my market here. there is Michelin star steamed fish zichar and also tiong bahru pau. in the afternoon, the tiong bahru pau coffee shop turns into a western bistro serving asahi black beer. Do come again~ there's ice skating in JCUBE, 2 donkis. IMM is an outlet mall like changi city point, everything store is an outlet. you should walk to science centre near JCUBE, its something special :)

If the HSR link to Malaysia was confirmed then u may need to use your passport in the future when it is fully completed..and the vibe here at jurong east will be different...sad to say this project was abolished last year or so.😥.

All the old hdb commercial shops are the same. The malls beside the mrt station also the same . That's why no one can recommend u where to go when u ask the people there, it's just the same as any other estate.

Since you visited Yuhua Market & Food Centre, you should patronize Zai Shun Curry Fish Head for breakfast or lunch (coffeeshop next Yuhua market & food centre). Their Steam fish is famous, other recommended dishes are fried bittergourd egg, chai Po egg, prawn paste fried chicken, steam minced pork with salted fish, 金针veggie and curry fish head. They made it to the 2019 Top 30 Michelin Bib Gourmand List (before COVID-19 pandemic). Be sure to bring your family there the next time. Oh yes, they are closed on every Wednesday.
