Had three compressors like that in the basement of the bowling alley where I and my father-in-law worked in the 70's that had been there since it was built in the 1950's. They were still in use when it closed down in around 2015. Never failed.
I love this. The tank in my compressor rusted out a couple years ago. I tried adapting and expansion tank and it was rusted out too! So I picked up a 30 gallon tank on FB market[lace for $45. Put everything together and I am back up and running. It's smart improvising with that parts you have handy, and saves a LOT of money!
I love your saying. Use what you have. I do the same. Don’t buy anything if I don’t need to. Just love the backyard butchery compressor. Great job, most excellent video. Love your channel!
Reusing what you have, and know it works , instead of possibly buying brand new junk? I’m in! Glad you got the dragon breathing fire again. Backyard butchery, hillbilly engineering, what ever it takes to make it work. Thanks Chad! God bless 🙂
We mounted one similarly, but I think we used some squares of an old mud flap and tire to isolate the engine vibration to the tank, and the switch box we had on it was also isolated with rubber. Same thing with the feet being rubber isolated to the ground. Love that new welding table. Gotta save that spensive stuff, no need in it going to waste! Great Job!
In the late 90s, I worked at Sears in the tool department. I was told that the oil free compressors were only designed to run about 25 total hours. Don’t know how true that is, but for the average homeowner who uses his oil free compressor to pump the occasional tire and use the occasional air tool, accumulating 25 hours of run time could take years. The more I see the junk compressors fail, the more I believe what I was told. Great episode as always! Love the old compressor. Should have shouted ‘IT’S ALIVE’ when she started up!

My wife asks me EVERY time I go to workin' on something.. "how long do you think it'll take...?" I always tell her ah give me about an hour babe.. it'll be about an hour. Generally the next day when I finally get it finished she says "why do you ALWYAYS say it'll be an hour and it takes you all day to do it..??" The answer is STOP asking me HOW LONG it's going to take, you already know it'll be about an hour babe!! : )
Hi Mr. Chad, let me guess, the old compressor was made in America 🇺🇸 by American citizens. The junk they sell today, is junk. Great video thanks for sharing it us.
Vise is sitting next to the other vise on your work table Chad, I just noticed it there! Don’t worry, I do the same thing myself! lol 😂 😂😂 Expanded metal or grading would be nice for a bottom shelf on your welding table Chad, all the grinding dust wouldn’t accumulate on the shelf! All the grinding dust would fall through! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Chad tank size won’t make much difference. Small tank the compressor will turn on more often but run a shorter time. Larger tank the compressor will stay off longer but run longer when it does start.
Excellent video Chad :) like how fix on parts needed and make work too! I do same thing too and like tinkering away to also improve impressed myself too! Never give till say fine and dandy it done ✔! LOL
I'm not sure your big plan for that welding table Chad, but one thing I did (I build one similar to yours) I did a shelf halfway down but I also welded a bunch of hooks along 2 sides so I hang my grinders and different corded tools from the hooks. Makes finding all my corded stuff pretty easy.. Plus I have some chain hanging on the other side, I use it a lot so I keep it handy, the rest is on the door of my one closet, but point is.. it's a good idea if you want it, hooks under the tabletop on the edges. It's handy as a pocket on a t shirt.
Ta daaaa! There you are . Nice surprise and a welcome one. Yes sir. To comment on your comment at the end. Using what you have is what makes for a very interesting and satisfying experience. Those that can do so and have the understanding to do so know how you feel when you adapt stuff to make other stuff work. Well done!
How does a man lose a vise? 😂 Love the fact you use what you have on hand, you’re basically heating your house for the cost of electricity to run the blower and a compressor…genius!
I think it's going to probably live longer than any of the new ones that you are going to pay at least $250 for. Heck if you got it and can make it work then why buy a new one anyway!👍👍
Need casters on the welding table, so it can be moved around if needed, and not scratch up the concrete etc. Also is the motor on the compressor loose?? Looks like it moved from left to right when you first plugged it in.
Man people like to say "they don't make em like they used to" but u just proved it. I e got the same exact old compressor on a 30 gal tank and you sir are correct, my grandfather bought that compressor brand new in like 1963 or 64 ... my dad's used it all his life and now I'm 35 and still using it. There's alot of truth to what u said. I just don't think people actually realize unfortunately we make a bunch of trash in America these days. Also I have an old rail Road jack my Great grandfather used while working on the railroad in Rocky mount. Nc way back . This thing is 6 ft tall and I suppose it was used to jack up a train? Idk but it's humongous and heavy and probably made sometime in the 1890s or 1900s and it still operates smooth as silk today.
Hi, just watching this video of yours that you were dragging your table. I put two wheels on the end of one end of the table so you can slightly tip it and you can pull it around a lot easier hope this will help you.
sad but true fact of today is no-one builds things to last, usually it is built to fail so you will buy another one the place of manufacture does not matter.
Great way to save money and utilize what you have at hand! Loved the video and look forward to the next one. Keep it up and keep on doing what you do. thank you for the knowledge you share with all of us.
Hi chad great video as always i was wondering could u put something on the back of your grinder so that when your using it the sparks will be directed away from u to what ever direction u want them go to go,just thaught ide ask as maybe that would be good for you and i suggested this as ive seen it on other videos and i thaught u mite like the idea anyways stay safe and see you in your next video brother.
MY FRIEND IF YOU DONT WANT TO GET HIPDAFIED, NOT SURE IF THATS A WORD, BUT ANYWAY, IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO ROWND OFF THE CORNERS OF YOUR WORKTABLE, BECAUSE IF YOU CATCH A HIP OR ANY PART OF YOUR BODY ON IT, YOU MAY GOING TO NEED BODY WORK, LIKE THE YOUR CAR, JUST SAYING,
