Hey Esmee, where can I find branches like that? "Oh, my fiancee is a forest ranger." Oh I see. So you decided not to glue or nail in the rope, but to knot it. "Yeah, I'm a girl scout, so I know a thing or two about knots." Oh. How do you know this is structurally sound? "Yeah, I'm a structural engineer." lol
So the moral of the story is, take lots of notes and then carry an ax and go find a tree with branching that will work. Or find a good contractor and show him/her this. :-D
Yeah, Esmee is bad-ass, TOTALLY! Way to go, Esmee!! I love that you used your talents and advantages to give your kitties a terrific life! They are the luckiest of kitties!!
Just gotta say, I think yours is the best cat-tree playground, because: 1) natural and rustic elements (great aesthetics), 2) sturdy supports, 3) big platforms (2 kitties can snuggle together), 4) great view (I would sit there all day too, if I were cat-sized), 5) space-saving (built over recycling bin and cat bathroom) 😻❤😻 LOVE IT! Yes, cat highway please! 😺👍😺
Amazing work! You did it like a world pro! I think I can speak for Cats and People everywhere, structural engineers like you make the world a better and happier place for all. You do more than engineer, you build happiness. Very nice!
Cats love this because it smells like nature. I know my cat would be on three all the time. It is beautiful and I hope I can have something like this made when the time comes that I need storage and a place to hide a litter box. Maybe I can gather supplies and make one here. I just have to rearrange (get rid of ) furniture to be able to use it against a window here. I am so glad I came across this video. I am in PA during the time when the voting system is being uprooted.
One more step she should've done is using a brass washer for each shelf when she was screwing it down from above--it would've added more strength so the screws would not loosen up later on with all the jumping around by her cats. Also use a wider screw for more grip. I have owned several cats in my adult life and am a handyman too in property mgmt, so I do know how to improvise on the fly.
I have some large sturdy limbs in interesting configurations that were trimmed from my trees and I immediately thought about a genuine cat "tree", so this has helped me visualize what to do in order to make it a reality.
"I love that cat tree! It is the best I've ever seen. I look forward to seeing the bridge that you plan to build for them later on. Seeing you cat tree, has given me different options for building my cat tree. Thank you. I look forward to seeing more.
You did a great job. I love the tree branches you placed. It's everything a cat could want. I like that they can look out into nature. Your cats were having a lot of fun. You're a great cat mom and a great builder, impressed. 🥰❤️❤️❤️🐈⬛🐈🙏
Love the inclusion of the bins and litter box. I was thinking about doing something like this between my kitchen and living room, and adding a trash can like this would be awesome. Currently the can is far away from the kitchen because the spot between the kitchen and living room is the best place, but if I put it there it would end up the focus of the two rooms. This way I'd get the best of both worlds, well placed trash and a nice decoration.
So attractive and practical. A dream come true for indoor cats ! Thank you for sharing and yes, it would be great to see an extension/bridge for this cat tree.
This is by far, the nicest, most authentic cat tree I’ve ever seen! Wish I had your talent! Much appreciation for sharing your creative genius, Estée! Hugs from Alberta, Canada! ❤️
You make designing & creating this amazing recycle/litter box hinged doors with fancy tree castle on top, so logical & easy! I suspected you have engineering/architect training & skills!! Very smart & creative!
This is such a beautiful build and I appreciate the consideration of how to optimize the use of your space. I, personally, love the aesthetic and it has inspired me to give it a shot. Thanks for sharing! :)
This is remarkable. You are so flipping talented I'm in awe! Plus buying something like this already made would cost 100s of £ so well done you! So glad to see the cats love it.
Het is prachtig! Het is zo helemaal in harmonie met elk interieur. Krabpalen blijven vaak een apart ding en deze is gewoon de natuur in huis halen waar je kat ook nog iets aan heeft. Knap ontwerp!❤
BRILLIANT! Love how you combined the functions so artfully and with easy access. Thank you for sharing... our cat Jeffery is needing an update like this!
Awww. You really have an incredible vid here. It’s the best cat tree I’ve seen, and I’ve tried looking for them here. Yours is easy to follow, well narrated, and very friendly to watch. Being Dutch doesn’t hurt either. The most kind people I’ve come across and I’ve travelled all over North America and spent 6 mths in Netherlands …. And I’m Canadian so you know I know who’s nice. Lol. Thank you for sharing this, it’s lovely, like you.
It looks gorgeous!! Great inspo for when I'm no longer renting! I would love to see you add more if you're still thinking about it ❤ Thanks for sharing!
Ha! You could dedicate a whole small room, like a child's bedroom, just as a cat jungle for seven! Even put a little running fountain in there as some people do for cats. I can imagine it with one big window looking outside, with a tree for birds and squirrels.
@@mandielou She didn't say anything about it being because she's a woman. I don't know why people turn everything into some weird competition or something.
Oh my goodness, I love you to pieces.. That is so amazing. Oh my goodness, Bravisimo Bravisimo .. I adore it. I plan on making your beautiful, stylish, modern, natural .. you took my breathe away .. I would love to see your plans for the possible addition.. This and the current Catio I am making for them is just perfect. Thank you so, so very much. It is so hard to find unique creative beautiful pieces. .. my cats are going to love it as much as yours do
Prettiest cat tree ever! I hope some day I'll be able to build something lije this for my three cats. For now I'm going to upgrade some shelves to make it a cat tree, maybe I'll record it like you! Also, beautiful garden. Of course I want to see the cat highway!
I really love this! My Bengal kitten will be coming home this June and I want her to feel home as much as possible... I think constructing such a tree would be ideal! Thanks for sharing!
I had a dream I had something like this but it reached the ceiling and my cat was climbing it then suddenly she was walking on the ceiling upside down. Then the next day I see this video I think the universe is telling me to make a cat tree for our kitty 😅.
So good to see how you built the tree for your cats, I have a small garden and used a small wooden ladder as a climber for Sylva having seen your tree has given me ideas to make her climber better, but I have to be careful that she cant get to the outside, I had wooden rollers erected all round the garden so she can't climb, as the rollers don't give access to climb, the idea for the rollers came from my vet who is from Australia and apparently that is where the ides came from. Well done to you. !!
"we got our big cat pooh" pooh is tiny! my cat is trice his size :D the cat tree is amazing, it's probably the prettiest one I've ever seen and it's so beautiful to see the kitties using it and enjoying it!!
I've never been on your channel before, but this popped up in my feed and I just had to watch it. Great ideas and it looks amazing. I'm finally going to be moving into my own home and I look forward to having special area's where Shady can go. This was a big help. Thank you!
Awesome! Best tutorial I have seen, that combines the cool tree with the litterbox solution. Great idea to conceal the recycle bins as well! I would probably use that space to hold a bin of food, a bin of fresh cat sand, bags, a scoop, and a bin to take out and scoop the "used sand" into. I would also make the *exit* shaped like a cat's head.
This tree is just perfect! :))) I love watching your chats climbing and palying there with such a pleasure! This tree is really natural and looks awesome! Great job! 😍👍
Esmee your cat tree and disposal box has a beautiful aesthetic quality which most cat equipment does not 😊. You are so skillful - an inspiration! I would love to see more projects.
Great build, but the shelf going around the corner bit of that wall was starting to droop when the adult cat got on it, you might need to get some more sturdy platforms, carpeted plywood would be the best. I would love to see you extend it and make a cat highway like you said at the end.
Esmee: What a thoughtful build out and calming video. Appreciate your humility and all the effort you put in to make a home for your cats. Thank you for sharing your video.
Hello from Montreal, Canada! You did an amazing job, so beautiful to look at and so much fun for the kitties. I definitely will watch more of your videos. Continue with the good work
Great job. I love the natural materials, and you had the perfect spot in the window. How did you make the "rope bridge?" It's that heavier piece of rope connecting two of the branches. Was it braided? I want to try something like this for my cat. Thanks.
Thank you! It is one piece of rope going across wraping it around the branch on the other side and then when going back you wrap it around the itself. Same way as with a hangmans noose.
Building a cat structure to use in an apartment, so the walls are off limits as attachment points. Watched your cat tree video for ideas and inspiration. Thanks for making it!
Hi, watching you construct the cat tree was a pleasure then seeing the cats claim it for themselves was amazing! I live up a highrise building with my two cats Coco and Minky whom I adopted 3 yrs ago when they were 12ys old. I am going to put up some shelves and ladders to keep them active. Catch you soon
I love the way this looks. The rustic natural look with the black hinges. Great job. I wish i was confident enough to conquer something like this. I had at one time 9 cats at my house (long story--terrible neighbors who abandoned a pregnant cat and she gave birth and brought a kitten one by one to my door. When an animal trusts you that much you have to let it in.) i was called the cat lady by my kids lol. It would have been so fun to have steps and hammocks and hiding spots for them. But i moved b4 that became a thing.
oh, Estee - this is such a beautify and functional piece! My cat Percy needs to be enclosed for awhile when we move, and I've been thinking about what to do for him!
Great job it’s beautiful. I enjoy watching other girls who like their tools. Most of all there’s NO carpet on your scratcher that’s a plus. Beautifully done.
You should hollow out the branches, and the litter boxes can go into the hollowed out branches, so the soiled litter will come out of the bottom of the branches, then a hose goes from the bottom of the branches into the toilet bowl
I lov💜 how you made this design with the tree cats and how you hide the litter. Thank you for share and inspire!!!! Im doing a similar design for my cats!!!!💜🙌😉🙏
Hi there from New Zealand. I am a new subscriber. Wow that is amazing. You clever Girl! Your cats are so lucky to have a beautiful cat tree in the comfort of your home.
Im planning on building one like this for my kitty! It seems so much more convenient and not to mention it is way cheaper than the cat trees bought in stores.
Clever woman Handy woman Loving owner A small suggestion... Cats like to sleep in hamock more than hard wood. 😉 And, put a 3M rubber mat outside the liter box to catch the sands / dirt as cat leave the litter box. 😁
Beautifully made by an engineer! Looks better than any store bought cat tree that I've ever seen. Yes please show more of your innovative ideas for the cat tree.
So inspiring! Such a good result to fill the needs of cats who like to play and hide and get up high. Before my father passed, he offered me his woodworking tools ( he built fine furniture among other projects). I declined because I didn’t think woodworking was a skill I would pursue. I am still angry at myself! Anyway, THANKYOU for your wonderful videos. You make it all look accomplishable.
Lucky cats! Generally speaking, to find branches easily, I'd suggest visiting a semi-coastal area after a big storm. They'll be lying around many roads and no one will mind if you take them. This is a great multi-functional space. Organic materials are so pretty when mixed in with greenery.
