On the unfinished - machinery space: I am not an HVAC professional but I have read in many-many sources that flex-tubing is not a great duct material long-term. It accumulates dust and other allergens that reduce system efficiency, and it is prone to tearing and eventually will deteriorate and disintegrate. If you plan to live there 20+ years, maybe convert to rectangular sheet ducts.
