That thing is a tomato!? My mom had one, I never could figure out what it was. Like my little brain couldn't figure out why a strawberry was attached to a tomato. So I thought either this is a really big strawberry and it's baby strawberry is hooked on still or it's a really tiny tomato that my mom sewed weird. I didn't realize other people had it. Thought it was just something my mom made that pokey stuff went in. Ohh the 4 year old brain trying to work out why things are the way they are
I love this so much! The mask and fairy lights give it a more modern feel than I generally associate with the Borrowers, which makes it feel both familiar and unique at the same time. ❤
Do you remember a Saturday morning cartoon called “The Littles”? About a boy who finds a family of tiny humanoids with mouse ears and tails living in the walls of his vacation house and they go on all kinds of “big world” adventures. They also use “big world” objects to make their furniture and vehicles. Fond memories are coming back with this video. ❤️
LOL you are right! That's all she wrote is That's all she video. Nice Analogy!👍🏻 Lovely job you did. I think it would be more difficult to set up the house this way. It's a complete turn-a-round from the way your mind normally works. Awesome!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That would be so fantastic to put into the skirting board in the kids room with a plastic cover so they can't pull it out but can lay and stare at it and imagine different stories xx
Oh my, Ara the wee mice nook turned out so well. Love how you tackled the clothes. Especially as they are so small. I have BJD’s myself but they are ⅓ scale. So their bed is made out of two Amazon boxes with duct tape tubes for feet.😅
It's so Cute!!!!!💖 I'm going to buy seven BJD in the mold of rabbits made by Moonlight Jewel & make them Peter Rabbit. I found a dollhouse that's going to have some or better lots of modelling and craft a family tree and attach to it. I'm also going to craft them a outdoor garden with fruits & veggies, see you next time.
This is so adorable. Not sure why but I got a Cinderella vibe when you were adding the sewing items. Made me think of the mice from the Disney cartoon movie of Cinderella😊 This was such a great project. I do understand the mental angst that some projects may entail. So glad you pushed through. You should have an espy video, so many neat things to try and find! Like I spy the plastic bread enclosure at the very top of the project❤❤ Thank you so much for sharing ....also thanks Ellen Reiser never knew what that little piece on the pin cushion was for, guess you are never too old to learn something new!
I had a little inspiration from the Cinderella mice too I think because someone mentioned them in the previous videos comments! I love Ispy books and would love to do one some day with all my scenes and minis! Wouldn't that be fun?
So cute!!! I love the creativity of making miniatures with found items! When I inherited my Mom's house after she passed away, I used a lot of the things she and my Dad had collected over years of world travel to create a village for my 16" porcelain dolls. Intricately carved wooden boxes became tables and brocade travel jewelry bags became chairs propped on wooden hinged display stands for a lavish livingroom, fancy cloth napkins & placemats became curtains & bedspreads, small gilded photo frames became headboards, brass candle holders and narrow vases became standing lamps with added shades, upturned wine goblets topped with round wooden display stands became side tables, a wooden cd storage box became wood paneling, travel soaps became cheese wheels and packages for the train depot, a pink velvet jewelry box became a display cabinet, and a small portrait of my mother became the focal point above a fireplace! I love using things that are already made, because half the work is already done! ❤️
This is so lovely Ara. When people collect all their childmemorie-stuff/things (nice word, not really English) they now know what to do with it. I told you last week, maybe I look for my borrowershouse again. Now I know I have to do that. After making my soapshop and sweet shop. 😄
After seeing the tail-less mice without their eyes, for some reason, I have "Three Blind Mice" stuck in my head. 😄 That sewing machine manual is HUGE. That machine is very intimidating. I love the personal touches and the glimpse into your childhood/teen years. :) When I saw the tiny Polly-Pocket-type doll, I could almost hear NexJen squealing. 😄 It's very cute.
Haha! I was singing nursery rhymes the day I finished this project and my husband asked where that came from... just a side effect of this project I guess😄 I need to send a pic to NexJen!😉
Bobbins are my worse nightmare as well! Totally relate! Anyway, I LOVE this project so very much! All of your hard work paid off, as per usual! Fantastic!
Thank you my friend!! I was shocked that I could get it to work again. I had pretty much figured I was going to have to wait for my sister to get off of work to fix it for me. She and fiber arts just get along better😄
So stinkin cute! A hat for the mice with cutouts for the ears like a pilot hat that one from disney wears would be adorable too, but very difficult, lol.
I've been watching all your old videos ,being new to your channel. This is deffinatly my favorite .I'm 64 and allways loved the Borrowers. Great job ,I just love it . All your other projects are amazing .GOD bless from PA.
Ok - I was really loving the concept of mini people/mice interacting with real sized items. You had mentioned "The Borrowers", which I had never heard of, so I went to my library app and borrowed The Borrowers!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!!!!!!! I think I was destined to love it immediately because the first character I recognized (besides John Goodman) was Prof Slughorn from Harry Potter!! And THEN I saw his son, played by none other than Draco Malfoy!!! And the exterminator was Mr. Weasley!! As a HUGE HP fan, this made the movie even more magical. I am now a fan and I want to create something with the mixed scales!!!
1/12 scale dolls are my favorite to repaint (though I usually stick to dolls with "chibi" proportions rather than realistic), and it's so fun to watch another crafter work in that scale. The dolls look amazing! Eta: the final project looks so good! Also, yay! You included a lonely sock! The boy mouse looks so concerned all the time 😂. I imagine that the girl mouse is a bit of a free spirit, which makes her constantly say and do things that worry him
Lol I love the idea that he is always trying to keep up with her and her ideas! I can totally see that😄 I hope to work on more dolls in this style in the future when I can!
This video has one of the best, most humorous voice-overs ever! You had me chuckling all along! Seeing how you posed the two darling dolls doing different activities was the best. I can see how a different part of your brain was challenged...and your new use of lots of colors as well, lol... but you came thru with flying colors! Just very precious.
😄 Thank you Andrea! I did have more fun with this voice over because I felt like there wasn't a ton of technical stuff I really needed to explain. It was just a fun convo about what I created I guess ;) I had an urge to age everything down when I got to the end but I have decided to leave the colors for a little bit until I decide if I want to keep them that way ;) We shall see!
Ara, this is the cutest thing I have ever seen. I'm so glad you hung it on your wall so that we might catch a glimpse of it occasionally. And thank you for the precious Stormy cameo. I have been silent lately, because I have been very ill, but I am always here and still amazed by your talent and creativity.
💖💖 Sending hugs your way through the internet. I am so sorry you have been feeling ill Jenny. Thank you for watching and I am so glad you enjoy the video. I hope you start feeling better and better each day!
This turned out so fun! Lots of bright colors, and I love how thoughtful you put everything together. Definitely looks like a well lived in space. It reminds me of the German saying "Nur der Kleingeist hält Ordnung, dass Genie überblickt das Chaos." What essentially translates to, "Only the small minded stay organized, the genius overlooks the chaos." As usual, well done and lovely to watch! Also, a random observation. How nice of Miss Argentina to visit the Fairfield House. ;)
Thank you Phil! I do prefer a mix of the two lol! Chaos that is organized every now and then after it gets out of control😄 But my ideal aesthetic is probably 'antique store' where I am just surrounded by interesting things ;)
Haha, I'm the same. But organized chaos is probably a regular crafters thing. And nice that Miss Argentina gets to take her rounds. The Neitherworld is probably getting kinda boring at times. ;)
I absolutely adore everything you did to make a cosy and comfy mouse house; I can imagine that the mice will be very happy living there. I love seeing Stormy - I have a Maltese cross Shih-tzu myself and he hangs out with me whenever I'm in my craft room - which is almost every day.
You are a wonder. Thanks for showing everything. The girl mouse looks so cute. The boy mouse looks a little scary so if there's a problem with a human (or two) roaming around and finding this mouse hole, he would be the one to take care of the threat. Love this!!
I love how dolls come to life with their eyes done. This project is just wonderful and it is a different process for you which I find I need sometimes to refresh my thought processes. I have to laugh at the sewing machine manual. I have a collection for several of my vintage machines and none of them are in a notebook format but I am thinking now that I can put them all in a notebook with the keys to the antique ones. I need an organized mose to help me with this stuff.
I absolutely love this project, I think it's the top 5 favorites that you've done! I found the random shoe! I didn't see it at first lol! This is amazing!
It's been a while since I have actually finish a project I think lol! I am glad you saw it ;) It's one I used on my Barbies all the time as a kid and I only have one left!
Ara, Love your mouse house and love your mouse people will too. You are so creative and smart. Their home is perfect. You have made everything just right. All your details are awesome. Thank you for sharing. Love Stormie coming to visit and giving her love 💕 she is so cute and precious. 😊❣️
It's kind of a bummer that the watch got broken but it's also really kind of neat because I feel like it adds to the scene they found a broken watch... That's so cool.
Oh my gosh, it turned out amazing! I love it and the mice look like they love it too. I love the way you arranged it and organized it. I bet it was hard to get it to look cohesive. Have a wonderful weekend.
@@BentleyHouseMinis well I think you did an incredible job, you should be very proud of yourself. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge about miniatures and other stuff too. Also, thank you for the laughs of course and thank you for sharing Miss. Stormy Bentley.🥰
I cannot tell you wich detail I love most. The pulley is absolutly perfect 🤩 the mask couldn't be better and all of the Pins 😙👌 I also love the clothing and the little head Bands 😍
I understand what you’re saying when you’re talking about the mental energy it took to make this project…in miniatures you’re usually making things that already exist on a smaller scale. And you figure out how and what to make it out of. In this project though you’re trying to figure out how to repurpose items to be functional as a smaller version of something that exists in full scale. What a brain bender! You pulled it all together though! It’s really enjoyable to look at everything and I can imagine the two mice living there! Bravo! 👏🏻 and also those dolls are amazing. The expressions they can provide to your scene is chefs kiss ❤ cheers to wearable blankie weather! ✨🎃✨👻✨🎃✨
Yes, it is such a different way to think and I feel like it really stretched my creativity in a new way! Thank you so much Jenny! I hope you are getting some nice weather too!
When you brought that sucker out I thought about my grandmothers old machine it was so heavy she had a separate surger too. Good luck threading the bobbin setting up the extra thread in the top and threading the needle. That part of sewing drives me crazy. Also remember the old cartoon The Littles those figures reminded me of that cartoon. No tails though lol
Absolutely wonderful! You are incredibly talented! I laughed out loud at your sewing machine drama - bobbin included! I relate 10000%! Thanks for sharing, Kathleen
Really like the mice, their little clothing is so cute! Like their little head bands too! Well done with the room furnishings. Looks adorable. Glad the burning candles were taken out in time! lol You're the Bomb! (Do we still say that?)
Thank you Nicki! I was so glad the headbands worked out and I didn't have to figure out hair😄 That's why I sat there and ate my lunch while they burned to make sure all was ok. Thank goodness or else we would have not had a video this week🤦♀️😉
Have you ever heard of the mouse Mansion books from the Dutch illustrator Karina Schaepman? It a story about two mice called Sam and Julia. The illustrator wanted to make the story come alive and made mouse Mansion (or houses) and created scenes within the house to use for her childrens books. She and the books are the reason I stumbled upon your channel because I want to make my own mouse Mansion. ☺️
Oh my God! This is sooo cute! I think this is my new favorite project of yours! ❤❤❤ Everything is so well thought! My mouth dropped when you painted the mice nails! 😍 And I laughed so hard watching you with the sewing machine! That's literally me! My mom makes tricot, crochet, cross-stich, patchwork, clothes, etc...and I can't even turn the machine on! 🤣🤣🤣
