I love that Porgie is only leveling movement speed because that's exactly what I did the first time I played Ark. It annoyed my brother to no end, but being able to run faster than pretty much everything is a pretty effective survival strategy

I love how you are so happy for taming super low level dinos. Also you can use the whistle system to for example tell your dinos to attack the target you're looking at. And for larger amounts of smaller predators I'd highly recommend some melee weapon like a sword or pike. Even a hatchet does decent damage and you don't waste ammo. Edit: "Monkeys meet their maker" I know where this is going.

@@watchmen617 Each of Ark's maps has a storyline, several summonable bosses, and what's essentially a final objective after that. It's why it works so well as a single player or purely co-op game, unlike rust. There's actually real goals. Additionally, the Genesis levels are even MORE like a standard game with objectives to get through. Personally, I really hope Welyn continues with Ark's free and paid DLC maps, because some of the stuff you find on them is absolutely amazing. They stopped sticking to JUST dinosaurs, so there's some stuff like mythological creatures, etc. found on them. It's great.

As a hardcore pvp player i have forgotten the joy this game gave me when i was first discovering everything. You should definitely check out other maps. Ragnarok would be really cool, you could try and get a griffon or a wyvern. Looking forward to the continuation of the series

Pro tip: tickle chickens have one of the highest melee damage per swing of the entire game. And a fast attack speed. Also, there is really no point in taming low level dinos once you get a few basic dinos. Taming a level 10 versus a max level 150 is only a matter of more arrows/darts and more food. Been playing this game with friends since early access, and started over many times on public and private server wipes. Even when we don't have a single dino and are going for our first (a ptera) we run the beach until we find something at least 135 or above (official servers dino levels are in increments of 5). Thirdly: the favored early-game way to knock out a quetzal is to have someone fly a ptera behind it while a second player is in the ptera's talons and shooting the quetz.

or do it solo, grapple your bird and command it to move / attack your target, then tell it to stop. you can effectively fly your bird while grappled to it, tranqing quetz.

Try messing with your tame's settings before taking them out! You should normally leave your dinos on passive, so you don't lose control of them. Especially important for fliers, as you almost never want them flying around without you on them. You can set "ignore group whistle". That way you could have whistled "attack target" without the quetzal attacking the rex too. You can also use tame groups, to whistle only a certain group of dinos at once.

Quick tip: Ankylosaurs are amazing at mining rocks, obsidian, and metal. They produce way more of the stuff and significantly reduce its weight while they’re carrying it too. Just use their tail attack on any nodes you find.

There's a 'take all' button when accessing your dead bodies loot btw (and on all accessible loot/inventories like boxes) can be found at the top of the accessed loot/inventory. Not that i didn't love the sped up footage of you collecting it all piece by piece, just thought it might help lol

Set your parasaur to stationary, then they’ll send out pulses that alert you of any hostile creatures near them. You can also right click while riding it to do the scan. Very helpful, also gives you insurance in case porgie is even more incompetent.

Its so interesting watching people that don't have a background in ark. I easily have over 1k hours in and I do miss when my ark adventures where so wacky. At this point I basically have a set plan from day 1 and don't tame anything under level 135. This was an awesome video.

@Welyn if you press and holt "T" you will be able to whistle on all your tames around you, so you can make them all aggressive or passive if you want pretty much instantly, great that you're playing Ark! you got a lot to explore!

One tip Welyn first watch out for Microraptors and badgers, also pick up those explorer notes and collectible notes while riding a Dino you want to level up (XP boost goes to both of you). Also Tapjeras are good flyers just make sure to be sneaky and use Bolas. Something with big aggressive creatures you can make a trap with pillars, Dino gate and ceilings (all stone, metal for bigger creatures like Gigas). For more tips reply on this comment
