Let me know what you think of this build and would this be something you would consider? sacrifice components a little bit and weight to get a better responding frame?

Absolutely as long as it was worth the price. Personally think 7200 is still too much for a bike like this but that’s more a criticism of Specialized’s pricing than the build. Components can mostly be upgraded one at a time but replacing a frame is a lot harder

Id rather spend the $$ on a good set of wheels and ride the 10r frame. Lots of the groupset is upgradable so not a lot of complaints with that

+1 to this - I respect their choice but I would have gone with the 10R and super light wheels (may have driven the weight much lower)

@@user-nu5fx6en9h a difference of 150 grams for the frame you're better off spending money on wheels and higher end components like saddle and bar and you'll have a lighter bike......

@@jaspreetsidhu5708 yeah the extra 2k you save on the wheels, you can go for a red crank, casset and chain (saving up on not buying those rival components), winspace 38mm, are pretty low weight for the price + prime components are also a good investement for price/quality/weight point of view personaly i wouldn't choose the aethos frame at all, but that's me, the new merida scultura is my bike of choice atm

This is interesting. After months of deliberation, I finally took delivery of the 2022 Aethos Comp, Satin Carbon, 61cm. I upgraded the wheels to the new Alpinist CL ll's, swapped the Rival crank for a 175 SRAM Red crank, all other parts stock (so far) and weight without pedals = 16.04 lbs...FOR A 61cm! I couldn't be more pleased. 😎

I built mine with ultegra and CLX deep rims and ended up with 6.75 kg. Very happy with the build

I can see this being a strategy to get a complete S-Works level bike over time. Start with the frame and entry level components and then just upgrade bit by bit over time, as you get bucks.

yea I mean, get the frame you want, and then build for something while having a bike to ride, aim to save up for some wheels and, but at least in th e mean time, you dont have to come up with another 6,000 dollars to ride a bike

It’s a similar strategy for people buying the low end spec of a bike that uses the same frame. You upgrade the groupset in the future when they wear out.

You should build that frame up with a SENSAH 12 speed groupset, rim brakes and Winspace R33 wheels. It would be a more attractive bike for my needs.

what's funny here is that he actually believes that this frame and build is good for the "budget" lets sum up . . . 7000$ bike advertised for being light is weighing 7.8 kg without pedals. for about the same price you can buy Time Alp du huez and put DA mechanical 11 speed with hunt wheels which should be around 7.1kg with pedals.

Only if South Florida would you see such madness. I have both Sworks and non Sworks frames and the weight is negligible and would have been much better served with better wheels.

This thing looks like some kind of Walmart bike from 2012 except it costs 7x as much. You can find an Addict RC with Ultegra Di2, one piece bar and stem, carbon wheels and the bike is actually painted.

No - not worth it. All that money and 8kg plus, when you put pedals on and a bottle cage. My 'cheap' alloy gravel bike is 8.9kg with 32mm tyres. Then there's the look. Is anyone going to stop and say nice bike at the coffee shop?😊

sooooo coool great video gc performance this bike on a climb must perform like a dream 7000 bucks are big big buck amount so its a high quality machine in my opinion the build try to have old and new vibe really cool components also and as you said the aethos is a bike who could be modernize or swap pieces really easy its a cool bike its a great video the only thing i could change is the frame color too much dark on it looks like an f117 kind a bike

Managed to find a 2021 Aethos Pro Di2 in Feb for £6250 in the UK...not an S-Works frame BUT under 7kgs with pedals (6.8ish). Imho a better overall spec, it's lovely. I certainly don't miss the few hundred gram saving of the S-works frame. Plus to get anywhere near 7kgs on that 'budget' build you're going to need some better wheels (easily £1k)...and some groupset upgrades such as crank / cassette (another £5-600) so can't see why they've bothered. You'll be into nearly 10 large for that to resemble an S-Works build, basically the price of a new S-Works 🙂

17lb bike for that much money to me sounds insane. I have my Sl7 with Ultegra 12spd size 61 and it’s lighter bought everything separately and walked away with an 8300$ bill but that’s the race bike my old as bike is 17lb with 50 mm deep wheels and I spent less than 3k granted it’s not an electronic group set but for a climbing build to be over 4 k more is simply useless. I also hate the look sorry not sorry

Wouldn't have been better to use a 12R Aethos frame and use that $2000 on better parts like carbon fiber stem, bars and a better wheel set? Probably would be cheaper and less expensive
