I gave ChatGPT $2000 to invest with and in this video i'll explain how we built the trading algorithm and what the returns looked like after 24 hours of live trading. First, a disclaimer - Do NOT invest any money in any type of trading bot or algorithmic engine that you are not willing to lose. I gave this trading bot $2000 because I was willing to lose $2000 to make a great video for my AI Wizards out there. ChatGPT is unique in its capabilities as a large language model because of its ability to remember the context of of a conversation. This AI is helping me build MVPs a lot faster and I want us all to take part in this revolution. The tools used in this tutorial are the Alpaca API for live trading data, Python for Programming, FinRL for Deep Reinforcement Learning and Vercel for live deployment. A lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. Hey, 4 trades is not enough. Let it trade in real time for at least 1000 trades over various stocks/coins. Then we can call it a positive/negative experience. Currently it's nothing.

I work with lots of them so understand most of this but not apps/sites I normally work with....First video I have watched from Siraj and had to subscribe. I would be keen on seeing this over a 3-12 month return. 1 day, 1 week, 1 month are all too short to see. Could you post an updated video 3 months down the line to see how your bot has done over the span of 3 months? If it can generate 1.60% per day compound that would make your $2,000 around 7.5K in 3 months.

It sounds like you maybe shouldnt be trading options. The best advice I was ever given with trading is first, learn risk management. Then continue to hone your skill with it. you can be the worst trader in the world but still be profitable with proper risk management. Surely ChatGPT can start you down that rabbithole.

What he is doing here is not an option strategy, but a price prediction on the stock. You would simply adjust your option strategy to be more bullish or bearish based on the results of this.

I understand how you feel, well is not luck is all about having good investment plans, watching professional trading videos and most especially connecting with the right person the digital world is full of in unreal people I met some of them during my success journey. I felt same way when I started especially when you use demo account you might be winning but when you put in real money you start losing I understand and I pass through it all. So the problem with AI trading is that the market will automatically adjust to AI trading and it will no longer give anyone an edge. This has been proven out many times in history with various 'systems' used to make automatic trading decisions in Forex. AI might give an edge for a short period of time, but when everyone is using it? The market always automatically adjusts by the forces acting on it.

RE: 18:09 - You really just have two round-trip trades...and one was only held a minute with a 1 cent loss. And the other trade you somehow managed to buy NVDA at 8:39 PM...outside of market hours...guess that must not have been exchange time. So you really only have 1 round-trip trade lasting any significant duration. Run the system for longer and tell us how it trades.

Siraj: stocks behave like a memoryless process for the most part. Trying to out guess the markets is futile. $ cost averaging investing of quality companies is the way to go. Now, if you had an app that can sort the wheat from the chaff, then that would make life easier for investors looking for quality stocks.

Excellent job, both on the actual bot, and the video. If I may suggest... since you're already using a neural network to calculate the sharp ratio, it makes sense to use one to determine your upper and lower thresholds based on past results, (instead of just guessing "0.2" and "0.4"), to maximize your financial gain.

if I'm understanding the rest of the code, it pulls about a decade worth of data for 30 companies, looks for technical indicators to determine if it should buy or sell, trains, and then tests its training. But I don't actually see where it does any automated paper trading in the notebook file just a sell and a buy, one paper, one not, and both using somebody's api keys... What am I missing?

Yes, I also don't see how the notebook decides to buy or sell a particular stock. There is just back testing going on using Test data. Where is the stock prediction for tmrw or for the week and the decision made using the Sharpe ratio? The code doesn't show how to build a bot after training the models using the historical data. @Bable631 - you are right, this video is fake.

In your tutorial and notebook, you have trained on DOW30 stocks and in your final purchase you have used NVDA (Nvidia) stock. NVDA stock is not even part of DOW30. Siraj, just a suggestion. Try Sortino ratio instead of Sharp ratio. Why? Sharp punishes volatility. Sortino rewards volatility which goes in your favor and punishes losing volatility.

Hey man, great channel! Do you think Reinforcement Learningis a good approach for stock predictions? Because I think is not: RL is usefull when you can control how the environment changes, if you cant, it's not. This would be the loop: 1) your agent try actions (random at first) and calculates his reward, 2) you select the bests of them, you learn with a machine learning model from that 3) your agent try what he learned from the model + some random actions to explore more. Your actions dont affect the stock movement. So this will converge in a peaks detection algoritm, the real problem is if a model can learn to predict next peaks. So you better mark manually the peaks (diferent ways of do that ) in the stock and do deep learning.

For those saying that are saying that 1 day of succesful trading does not proove that this is a good platform, I think it's important to remember the point of the video. I'm not a mind reader but I stronly suspect that Siraj's purpose was to show that using ChatGPT, a person can easily develop a complex AI system to automate stock trades which I feel the video did quite well - I do not believe the point of his video was to actually develop a functional and usable tradingBot (functional yes, usable - maybe, maybe not)

It's okay if they don't agree with this type of investing, many of us do agree. I have 20 positions in high growth stocks. I'm getting 15 dividend pay checks, however I'm up 125 % this year. About $650k this yr, good dividend paying portfolio, although I use an F.A so buy as much as you can and wait for the rebound. Only the brave gets rewarded in these times!

it is very easy to buy in on trending stocks but the problem is knowing when to sell or hold which is why a consultant is important. I've been in touch with one for about a year now and although I was initially skeptical about it, I will say I've made more progress within a year generating 6figure profit.

You have to break it down in steps, and do the rest yourself. I'd first ask it to parse an XML file, then I'd ask it to turn it into JSON. Afterwards, I ask it to enable pretty print so it's actually readable. I did something similar in Java and it even taught me how to organize the variables by order in the JSON, and even mapping variables from the JSON to a Java variable.
