I finally found the perfect place to build the ultimate car guy compound. Tons of car parts, tools, and a motorcycle were left behind. So today we're going to sort through everything, throw a ton of stuff away, and start cleaning things up. A new house, a new shop, and a place to build cars better than ever before... but the house has some strange secrets of it's own.
Rollercoaster Channel: ‪@UltimateThrills‬
MERCH: shopWatchJRGo.com
Shop Motul: motul.com
---------------------------------------------------------------
Common Questions:
What motorcycle do I ride? A few. Ducati 1198, Honda Goldwing, Honda Grom, Honda Ruckus
What do I do for a living? Make RU-vid videos.
Can you wheelie? No, I suck.
Are you fast? Sort of. I suck mostly though.
Where can I keep up with you off the bike?
Instagram: WatchJRGo
Facebook: WatchJRGo (or JRGo, FB hates my branding)
Do you go to school? College, for 2 classes.
Why do you ride so dangerously? What do mean? I was doing 25.
Do you go to the track? Of course, hopefully there will be videos in the future.
Do you play video games? No, but I might stream N64 Goldeneye at some point. Twitch: WatchJRGo
Are you afraid the police will watch your videos and arrest you? Something something evidence something something warrants and due process of law

Some electronics manufacters use circuit glue to stabilize large components such as capacitors. As it ages it becomes conductive and burns. Dig it off and it might fix your amp.
@rebkhai
@rebkhai 9 месяцев назад
Us custom guys just made those cables back in the day ourselves. Making the system work so anyone can use it is the main aim for sure. I've had a smart home for quite a long time and I just keep upgrading because I'm a dealer and I could never live without one again. The only thing I don't like is the subscription and licenses that Control 4 has. I could be wrong about those since I haven't programmed Control 4 for a very long long time and do not know much about them anymore. Mainly when it just came out. Crestron Home all the way for me. Good job. Might want to think about light dimmers from Control 4 though instead of the ones you mentioned. Makes it much easier to keep everything on one app.

The brown stuff around a capacitor is likely adhesive to prevent it from lifting off the board in shipment. The problem with some of that adhesive is that some types turn conductive after x amount of time, which is likely what has prevented your power supply from starting

hey Jr it’s coming along nicely boy i really looked hard a few years ago at control4 when we were doing are home we did a whole tech rework its funny the people thought i was nuts because i wanted phone ethernet coax an speaker in every room i was like make it happen plus i had crazy cat6 request in our family room because i made custom analog cable adapters to ethernet so i don’t have to run so much wire to the receiver it works well actually anyway we ended up using Sonos amps and Klipsch CDT-5800-C II In-Ceiling Speaker 8 in all over the house and i think you used a very similar speaker and there really good my only suggestion is ware you can i would also recommend adding the klipsch 12in powered sub and using the low pass filter on the amp an have the sub do the work so you can really rock out and do so for years but not kill the amazing sound its what i found was truly a very nice setup even if you don’t have the volume loud all the time it just made it perfect anyway im excited to see the finished product so best wishes

Just because it's old doesn't mean it doesn't sound good and can still be used, you just don't get all the latest features and toys. I have a Denon 4700 that can do just about any audio format and has 9.1 speaker amps, Dolby Atmos, 8k video et etc. I've never done full home audio but I've been doing surround sound since the early days before 5.1 etc. My first sub was a passive Radio Shack 12" that actually sounded really good, even better when I added a heath kit big amp to power it. It sounded clean and went surprisingly low. The speaker foam finally rotted so no good now and I have a couple cheap but decent enough powered subs now. I'd recommend a sub or two in your favorite areas if you want to do some serious listening, then play tubular Bells Michael Oldfeild I think it was. It has some really low harmonics that are unbelievable on a good sub and system. Love getting a good deal too, keep it up 😎

After seeing this video maybe all I need is an EA1 to send data to the amp? You said 2 hours of programming which I assume was in Composer and THAT would have been awesome to see. Planet Waves cables are easily field terminated. Loosen the flathead screw on the side, pull the connector off, cut with a cleaver style cutter (P-Waves includes one with each box of cable), push connector back on, tighten screw, test of continuity (tip to tip, ring to ring, make sure ring to tip is open) and you are GTG. I go through several boxes of wire and a few hundred connectors a year.

If your just doing a basic 5.1 system and can run wires it can be done very cheep. The real issue is integrateing the controls. Anything that is pre hdmi arc would need its own controller as most new tv remotes don't allow adding devices. But the pre arc stuff is super cheep and almost anything is a upgrade from tv speakers. For my friend I got him a old dolby pro logic 1 recever that came with speakers and wires for $30 cad. And was a good intro to him for sound. (Use windows virtual surround to drive prologic outputs) Although I really don't recommend going that old. At least get something that can do dolby digital and dts. I also built my other friends a tiny apartment setup with a hdmi arc audio extractor, Cambridge soundworks pc speaker subwoofer/amp and realistic minimus 7's for a basic under $100 2.1 setup. It sounds way better than the tv speakers and can be volume controled by the tv remote as the arc extractor has volume control on the headphone out. The bigget hurdle is getting the various technologies to work together.

It could be that the Amp had sat for so long the capacitors lost their charge and became unstable. Needing them to be reformed to come back to life; and maybe by shutting it off and on those few times and then the switching supply cycling with the tick tick sound it was progressively reforming the caps tell they came back to life. The power supply may just run now and not need to be replaced at all.

JR, I forgot to comment on your Basement Flooded video... when you were showing the electronics that narrowly escaped disaster by physically moving them, it occurred to me that maybe you could create a channel for future water to go behind the plywood. Yeah, I know you have plans to fix the problems, but a little insurance would give ME peace of mind, if it was my expensive electronics... yeah, it would probably be a pain to remove the plywood and create a channel behind it, but... Just my uneducated 2 cents talking.

The brown stuff in the power supply might be glue, on some older electronics the glue would go conductive and cause issues. If you can swap in another power supply and verify it's the issue, recap the original with Panasonic, Nichicon, etc. caps and reinstall it, a replacement PSU will have the same issue eventually if they used bad caps.
