This is the type of guy that comes to America with three dollars in his pocket and creates a multi-million dollar business from the ground up. Seriously impressive. Respect.
I'm 68 now. That kid was me as I grew up in America. No kids like that anymore. They don't even know how to use tools. Besides, the "authorities" would shut him down immediately, for some chicken shit code violation. Back to the gang in the hood. An American tragedy...
If life is to easy then it will never be easy.. if life is a struggle then one day you understand the pain is worth the adventure.. success involves work .
The owner of that boat just called and he wants it back now!! Seriously, restoring and rebuilding that engine was effing incredible!! There are hundreds of mechanics with complete engine shops who couldn't have done what you did, and you had nothing more than hand tools and some grinders!!! Great job, I salute you sir!!
It's fake, the moment salt water touches the iner parts of the engine it's a death sentence, corrotion corrosion begins the instant the salt water touches the metal
@@genespell4340 are you serious? if you know how an engine works you will know that at least one intake valve and one exhaust valve will be open when the engine is off, obviously the salt water will get into the engine and rust inside, turbos will rust if you stop using the boat for a while, now imagine how it would rust in the sea, for the engine to look like in the video it had to be in the sea for months or years, don't believe everything you see on the internet, RU-vid is full of liars doing fake videos to get views, although the video is good for entertainment, the engine part is not real.
@@CarlosSD What's fake about it. You can see him rebuilding everything. What you're saying is you can't comprehend the unbelievable amount of work he does on ALL of his projects because you could never do it yourself. He's one of the worlds greatest mechanics in my book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I lived in Vietnam for 5 years, and the ingenuity of its people has never ceased to amaze me. This salvage and restoration was something to behold. I cannot believe the work that was done on that barnacle-encrusted engine. In addition, the quality of the video and the editing was fantastic. Thanks for posting the video!
I wonder if this guy has ever dealt with the EPA?I don't think I would like to drink from a well near this guy's place the ground water can't be to good?it might be to crunchy for me!!
I admire your patience, determination, and your prowess in building this yacht. The patience you have used in dis-assembling the hull and insert, and the determination in tearing down the engine, cleaning it up, installing the new bearings, piston rings, gaskets, and getting it running like it was new again. I was an Auto mechanic/technician 46 years and it's such a pleasure to watch someone do what you're doing with such determination and patience. Thank you for sharing a small portion of your life with us, it is very interesting.
Chúc anh sức khỏe bình an nha .
This is the ultimate recycling! Looks amazing so far and can’t wait to see the next part. What you did with that engine is just awe inspiring. Great work and great video. This is what hard work looks like. Total respect. Duly subscribed!
Yea they aren't wasteful like other countries. Here in the states you just get a whole new boat lol. F trying to fix it. But Mr ho has inspired me to reuse old parts instead of buying new ones
I am seriously impressed.. Now I’m a damn good mechanic and love restoring any type of moving part but damn I’d of tossed that huge paperweight out and started fresh if of course I had 20 grand burning a hole in my pocket .. So my hats off to you for that awesome overhaul!!! I can’t wait for the fitting of the new power plant???!!!!
I can appreciate your work. I have restored several veicles including a 1963 Ford falcon. It looked like an old wreck when I got it. I won best Ford in show several years later. Your diligence has payed off, well done Mr HỒ Thánh Chế. The engine purrs like a cat.
Anh nể em quá ròi Hồ.! Máy gì làm cũng được… mà đồ bỏ làm lại mới ghê. Phải làm những chiếc to như vậy…. Chứ nhỏ nhỏ làm hoài xem không đã… chừng nào hoàn thiện nhượng lại anh nhe.
As a 20 year plus mechanic that has performed many, many restoration; this blew me away. I have Never to rebuild a engine that was found on a beach. Very impressed.
An engine overgrown with shells. And there was no water inside! Although he was all under salt water!!!! Don't make me laugh!!! Who plugged the intake and exhaust manifolds there? And all the bolts and nuts turn away? It's just a regular RU-vid show.
Very impressive! Especially that engine rebuild. I was surprised to see how good the inside looked, considering it had obviously been submerged for quite some time. Excellent job, looking forward to the next part!
It's pretty common for flooded engines. No oxygen no rust, on high end flooded yacht engines it's common to pump in oil to replace the water and the engine will suffer no damage, as long as oxygen is never introduced inside.
YesSiRr!! Wow!! Mate... most RU-vid's would have made a 10 part series to what you just did in this video ALONE!!! Lol!! Your a Bloody Legend Mate... the Work you just put in..in restoring that engine back to its original form... WOW!! Nothing short of Amazing. From the state it was in till now... How many hours you put in that?!? I Could only imagine. Your hard worker & VERY skilled at what you do... Thank you for sharing your Awesome Build with us Mate... i can't wait to see the NEXT episode... take Care, Stay Bless and Stay Safe out there...
Hats off to this. Seriously amazing. I feel like a lot of people may also overlook that this was a salt water engine, which means that almost every nut/bolt was probably corroded and fused together from neglect and exposure to the elements. This has earned them the rep for being the most challenging kind of motor to work on. Take it from me, a guy who has almost pulled my hair out working on
@@chandlerthomas3199 People draw dollars, make fake watches and phones, fake paintings and jewelry. Do you seriously think that it is very difficult to glue the shells to the engine? Better ask yourself why there is no water inside the engine.
@@Alex_Rich I didnt look into it too much! But yes, this could be faked. Although he has a 40 min video that goes through each step of the restoration. Maybe check out that video and see if you change your mind!
Good work! We Westerners can learn a lot from this young man. He builds something beautiful and useful out of things that we would have thrown away. The restoration of the engine alone is a lesson in recycling. Good work!
This guy is amazing and nothing but respect for his abilities . One look at that engine and I was thinking there was no way that would ever run again . He looks like he’s 15 but with as much experience and skill he has he’s probably 55 lol . Hats off to you Sir I can wait to see the finished product .
@@emielzier Hey man, thanks, I am a fan of Mr. Ho, he inspired me to get into boat building. :) hope one day I can see him in his place and build a boat with him together.
so we suppose to just think he rebuilt a diesel engine with no feeler gauge, no torque wrench. and it looks that good. okie dokie. the dude didnt even go with any patterns when tightening anything down. i say it blows or its a fraud
This guy deserves every sub he gets! When I saw that starter motor come apart, I thought “No way he’s getting that to work again!” Let alone the rest of the engine, fuel pump, turbo etc. The greatest respect from Australia to you my friend! Cheers 👍👍🍻
Awesome work. But please do yourself a favor and learn what torque sequence is. Going straight across the crank, oil pan, and head is a big no no. You will warp or damage parts. It can damage the head gasket. You don’t go straight to your torque either you go up in incriminates, 10-25-40 whatever the case maybe you don’t torque it as soon as you start tightening it
Do you believe it? I am just a bit skeptical. But it's possible. I did leave a comment asking him how he learned to do these things. Maybe I'll get a response. Seems like years and years of learning or working with engines I guess
I am a mechanic, and YOU SIR, ARE VERY EXCEPTIONAL!! YOU TAKE NEAR NOTHING, AND MAKE SOMETHING USEFUL. You Know Just what you can get away with, and still have something Nice and Dependable. Hats off to the Boat Guru 😎👍
This has to be one of the best videos I’ve seen this was genuine, not some guy who walked around and found a game boy or speaker, he built his own boat! Props to this guy
The restoration of that engine is one of the most damn impressive things I have ever seen. Regardless of what we are all good at, there are some people that have a natural ability that is hard to explain. Thank you for sharing your work. Entertaining and inspiring.
@@scottmcdonald4571 yup, nothing but time, time to become skilled enough to do what he does, I've done many restorations throughout my 30 years in the trade so I know when someone is a talented person.
Absolutely incredible. That boat had been sunk for years, based on the amount of barnicles on everything. Just shows what can be done by a total strip-down, clean and rebuild and one huge amount of work. Looking forward to the next episode.
Barnacles will attach and start growing within days, based on where he lives i would say that engine has been in the water 2 weeks max. Notice how the inside still had oil and looked clean? If it had been any longer the salt water electrolysis would have started eating into the iron of the crank, rods, mating surfaces making the engine scrap. To be honest, i'm not convinced parts of this havent been faked. There a loads of fake "restoration" vids on YT.
He looked at it before he put it in the ocean for a few weeks. There's almost no water intrusion into critical areas so it must have been prepared for submersion.
@@carwashadamcooper1538 I put the same thing in a comment above and they think I'm wrong saying that the part of the video where they restore the engine is fake 😆😆
@@CarlosSD he restored the engine on video. what the fuck more do you want. fuck off dude. instead of appreciating someones effort you are pissing on it! piss off you piss of shit!

Restoring the boat down to it's bones is one thing but restoring that engine which prettty much looks like a coral reef is beyond most other mechanics out there.he was not even in a shop which uses fancy tools and brand new parts....A Million THUMBSUP to you.!!!
I am not a mechanic but I can still appreciate the amazing craftmanship, skill, patience and shear will it takes to perform a job like this!!! Simply amazing!!! Truly. Well done.
I am not going to lie, that is amazing! This is just the proof that everything is possible! I do not have any skills to build anything or restore but watching you guys, that was a pleasure! All the best !
Truly skilled man he is... Especially looking at the condition of the boat and the mostly the engine. Who would have thought... We need more people like this to show us that whatever we want isn't too far from our hands (literally)... But mostly with all this dumping and pollution, we can recycle and have our own... Thank you man...!
If I recall right, the engine rebuild video didn't include the turbo rebuild and installation. Well done. That's going to be a hell of an engine in that little hull, obviously it used an outboard originally. You'll have a rocket boat. You also need to install fuel tank and cooling, that'll take up most of the space you've got. Or else build it way up, put a deck over the engine equipment, handrails to prevent falling off, and a forecastle over the deck. You've removed one crossbrace in the hull to provide space for the engine, so you should put back another crossbrace, maybe more than that because of the weight which will be much greater than original. I don't know how to anchor those cross braces and provide the necessary strength, you'll have to research on how to do that and essentially rebuild that hull strong enough. If you're installing a deck over the engine, that can perhaps serve as a crossbrace and a place to anchor additional bracing.
In a boat that size, imagine the trips would be short considering the length. Will be interesting to see what he comes up with and how big, my guess would be 20 gallons or less.
I don t know if you have made mechanic studies but sincerly you are a real artist and accumulate a huge experience. Nobody make new from old broken things as you do You are the L da Vinci of your country 💪💪💪
That's the type of guy that stays in his homeland cuz he knows apreciating the real things in life and all the eforce and struggle he make he knows is everything for himself and dosn't do it trying to win millions or with a intention of starting a business. Respect.
When I saw that old boat roll in, I was thinking, "this is going to be disappointing." By the time you were halfway through the engine re-build, I was thinking, "I can't wait to see the 90 meter super yacht he's going to make from this!"
I don't really like seeing videos more than 10mins long on RU-vid. But this one got my attention when he was restoring the engine. I can't believe he actually restored it. Man you a awesome.
After watching these guys rebuild engines never using any kind of torque specs, AND succeeding, it has me questioning everything in life!!! Great job!!
I'm amazed at the level of craftsmanship this guy achieves with the equipment he has available...I mean his taps look like they are in the same shape and the boat engine and they didn't snap off when he used them and I love the cardboard gaskets on the exhaust flanges...EPIC!!!
I stumbled on this one from my usual auto revivals. I couldn't stop watching. The enormity of the task here was overwhelming and I wouldn't believe anyone could, or would, undertake such. Curiosity immediately turned to disbelief that the massively corroded engine could be saved. Then watching the process which was extremely well done for video in time lapse made my jaw drop in how bad the engine truly was - and cleaned up in amazing fashion. It appears all parts (save some bolts) were made to be re-used. Even the buggered Garrett turbo! Amazing and I look forward to part 2.
I was a little amazed that an engine "found on the beach" didn't need anything more than a little cleaning up. Did it get tossed on the beach just because it was dirty?
Every American should watch this. We waste so much. Awesome video. I’m restoring a old pick up right now. Thought I take a break and watch some you tube. Super please I did thank. I’m sure most the people who watch this are this kinda of person. I know I I’m. Watching these keeps me excited about my project when your in the part of restoring that’s not that exciting it’s easy too put it on the back burner. Love the rebar chisel I’m making one!
Much respect to you, sir. Can't wait to see part 2. Based on what I've already seen in part 1, I have no doubt that it will be spectacular. I hope someone recognizes your masterful skills and puts you on their payroll.
Yeah, we are paying him with RU-vid $ everytime we 'view', hit 'like', 'comment', and 'subscribe', and with the skills he possesses, his pockets will only get deeper.
He's making plenty of money at his rate of audience he's making over 70 or $80,000 per month US. Most likely over a million dollars a year. You must understand!
I was in shock with the first video of the engine being bought back to life with the way it looked and now the turbo was rebuilt and I thought it was a goner for sure but with time, wd-40 and elbow grease anything is possible and the sound of the turbo was just like icing on the cake.
@@vietmanesemechanic6331 why so negative. If you watched the first video you can see him cleaning up the parts and yes there might have been some new parts.
