I dont know if you know this but in 1.17 if you enchant your pickaxe with looting it will give you more raw iron from an ore (works with every other ore too except netherite). Its really good

And for a starter base i mean you have to mine diamonds and get deepslate and run 1 kilometer just finding a dark wood to make a beautiful base without merit amd uses just for storage boxes
