@@axiompro123yeah because the rotate trigger takes degrees or rotations and the time you set to calculate how fast it will rotate. That wouldn’t work if it was infinity
@@Dave_alles 1. Make level 2. Press the playtest button 3. Go through wave portal 4. Pause the playtest and go to level settings and set it to platformer. 5. Voilà.

if it did, absolutely NO ONE noticed so idk ive never seen a circle with an X on it over a default block@@splashmanej3 if it did exist then everyone would be using it because it doesnt take 6 almost 7 years to find out what an entry and exit trigger does.
I feel like there’s no real reason robtop couldn’t add swing in platformer. It can’t be much harder than ship or ufo, right? I mean, you can do the classic duel ball thing in platformer mode and it works just fine. Maybe there’s something I’m not seeing, but I think swing should be in platformer. Very cool video btw. Turned out very well
For adding the wave visually, Id just make it flip when left or right is pushed (-1 scale trigger), and rotate up when jump is pressed and back down when its released. Would take a bit of thinking. Since you need to prevent the left input detection when already facing left. But not too hard. The up and down rotation would be harder, since you dont want to overshoot on the way back down if you didnt rotate all the way up. I think there might be a way to make something look at something else? Adv follow?
8:22 I know there's a spawn block that you can use to make the player always spawn on a specific location when they start the level/die /restart, it's the same thing that robtop did in the second level of The Tower (the cube spawns from the pipe)
i think all gamemodes should be added in platformer, i think the wave should act normal, moves down when you dont hold and you can go left and right, i dont know why robtop didnt add the swing tho, it would be so easy to make it work in platformer.
Swing is just really annoying in platformer mode. Wave is just incredibly broken, buggy, and un intuitive. Rob said he has a different plan for wave in platformer mode.
In megahack theres the option to enable all modes in platformer. Wave and Swing are not fun. The swing is basically just the ball in platformer and the wave is broken as hell
thing is, there's no reason the wave wouldn't work in platformer. the way I would see it as, would be that it would kinda be like if you were playing snake or pacman for example, you press a direction and the character travels in that direction until there's another input
Wave and swing works in platformer (Just in editor tho) Set the game to classic, put a wave/swing portal, playtest till you get to the portal, pause the playtesting, change the mode to platformer and gg
To check if 2 different things are held, you can put 2 collision blocks with a 1 block gap in-between. When you do one of the two actions, a move trigger can move one of the collision blocks to the center where it is empty. However, nothing happens since they aren't touching. Once both blocks are in the center, whatever you put to activate in a collision trigger activates.
Nice! The physics aren't the same as in the 2.2 gdps tho (in the gdps/beta, the player would only move on the Y axis if he was moving on the X axis), which kinda made the wave gamemode unique in platfomer, but its still a nice recreation! Also the swing copter would actually be easier to recreate than the wave. it would only require a touch trigger/toggle orb, gravity portals that would toggle on and off depending on the inputs and a gamemode with a similar gravity, (and a gravity trigger if necessary)
@@SomeCowguy green orb makes you "bounce" slightly, which is terrible for straight fly. the gravity portals make you slowly take your normal gravity, like the swing copter
Fun fact: there is a bug (working as of now) where you can do platformer wave/swing by setting a portal of wave or swing (LEVEL MUST BE PLATFORMER) click the little play thing that shows your trail behind you click the pause and then switch the level to classic and once you go into the portal of wave/swing pause the thing again and switch it back to platformer. Have fun with this random thing I found. :D
fun fact: in the gdps version the platformer wave worked like this: u can move left and right but if u move somewhere while holding you go up as long as u move
The reason for the respawn bug is that the spawn group moves with the box, and the game seems to respawn the player before moving objects back to their beginning positions. I learned this while trying to make an autoscroller.
Tbh i don’t understand why platformer doesn’t support swingcopter, like left or right still works, and then just tap for gravity switch to go up and down
you can be the wave in platformer if you play as any gamemode in the editor, pause, and then go to the options and choose the wave. i think you have to be in normal mode, and then choose platformer mode together with the wave. you can also do this with the swing, but im not sure if its been fixed.
The reason you weree going flying is because when you move right the box pushed you, adding to your momentum making yougo faster which means the box would push you harder wtch leads to an infinite loop of speed
Swng is really easy, you just need an advanced follow wich makes a green orb with multi activate follow you. when pressing in any gamemode except ball it will basically work just like the swingcopter. Then f you put it on x2 or x3 speed it will be almost like the swing. but make sure not to use any presets. Just entering the group is the right way
i feel like in the context of platformer mode, making wave mode is kinda redundant. You can achieve almost the exact same movement with jetpack mode. Well not exactly the same but you can maneuver around obstacles regardless of mode.
Ok, so here is how to actually do it. Make a level with wave game mode in classic mode.. While playtesting with wave mode, pause and change the mode to platformer.. Switch back and you got a platformer wave! Same with the swing.
If you dont know, you can actually set the gamemode to the wave in the editor by placing a wave portal and going inside it in Classic, then setting mode to Platformer, it just lets you be a wave.
To make wave in plat. just put blue orbs around the level in dual Edit: to make swing just put green orbs around the level but. Sdslayer i love your videos and good idea
I played a fangame called mania dash a couple of years ago just went back to it and the wave literally behaves like this except that if you release it doesnt do anything but if you click s or down it will make the wave go down, we need a down button in gd platformer to map it to anything
