My Dad was like that. A Jekyll and Hyde, and alcohol was the reason. But he became an overcomer when he dedicated his life to Christ. Thanks be to God.

I have never heard another person who understands grief and loss in the same way that I do. I heard his heart so loud and clear. This is something very few people can do. I loved the part "it doesn't get easier, it just gets different". There's nothing more true.❣

Caleb, You can see that you are such a good man! I am sure that holding in loss, not being able to communicate it, was just so hard back then. Now, look at how you can teach and preach! Keep your eyes towards the good, you being you is a gift to Granger! Thanks for sharing man. #Brave Yee Yee

I have to say God is good, This podcast could not have been a better time in my life. I just lost my father on July 31st from cancer. He was my best friend, best man, and my hero and listening to this I now completely understand the grief and the feelings that Im currently going through. And Caleb you're right the grief is the reason but not the excuse. Thank You!!

Props to Caleb for sitting down and talking with you, you can see how uncomfortable he is talking about it and how embarrassed he is of his younger self and actions. And huge props to you Granger for not kicking him to the curb and turning your back. You kept him around and gained a great friendship and devoted employee. Good ending to a crazy story.

This has to be one of my favorite episodes. Grief is so different for everyone, and it seems like the least talked about things. I lost my husband 3 months and 25 days ago and its a struggle everyday. Sometimes I think I fight so hard to let myself truly grieve because I don't know how I will be. I fear the anger part of grief, my husband was my absolute best friend, I loved hard so I know that's why I'm grieving so hard. And having three kids you have to lead through grief too, adds even more difficulties. I'm so glad you used this platform to show the ugly side of grief, not just the all "wrapped up in a bow and try to make it look as good as you can" side.

Bless his heart Grief and Divorce are about the same to me..you are both amazing and talking about this and realizing your triggers are the most beneficial thing you could ever do..you might not realize it at the time but it is...I have went to alot of therapy over alot of years over horrible things that happened to me growing up..I started a diary because my husband never allowed me to talk about flashbacks I was having and I had to tell someone to I told Jesus in a diary..I had to go in the hospital for 3 months and the best thing that a teacher their taught me was to write down my grief and gave me the opition to read it out loud or rip it up and put into a paper bag..I chose both and omgosh it hit me so hard reading it out loud for the first time and my healing began and I haven't picked it up no more..now I sill have flashbacks about it and I just talk to Jesus like I would be talking to you guys...I love how you never gave up on your friend Granger, he will never forget that as long as he lives..I would love to hear more of his story...love you all forever and a day...

I lost my dad last year to heart failure, which resulted in my younger brothers turning to drugs to cope with it! So all in all I feel like I’ve lost my brothers as well! One of them is looking at jail time and the other brother is going to prison! It’s hard to think about it but I gotta tell myself to be their older brother and help them through it! I hope they use this as a wake up call and can come home changed! Put god first and make it a priority to change your life for yourself! It’s tough but it’s not impossible! I would love to hear more from Caleb. I learned from when my daddy died that it wasn’t the way to handle things. I had so much anger and hate, I didn’t know how to handle it and didn’t realize what I was doing. Took some time and learned. Also, I didn’t have God in my life. Years later my momma passed away and I did have God in my life. Made a world of difference for me. I still grieved but I wasn’t pushing everyone away. Everything Caleb said I could relate to. However, I can’t say that I know what he went through. I have no siblings. I did unexpectedly loose my son July 13th of this year and it totally pulled the rug out from under my feet. I am trying to deal with it one day at a time. Thank you Caleb for sharing and I hope ya’ll come back and finish your story. You are a an amazing man.

More Caleb please. A similar situation I had with my son when he was about 14 and was having a hard time with his dad leaving us and the eventual divorce. He would take his anger out on me when he was angry with his dad. I asked him why he was taking it out on me instead of his dad. His response was not what I was expecting. He said "Because I know no matter what I say you will always love me unconditionally. I'm not sure about anyone else." From then on I didn't take it personally. As you said Granger you have to see them as not being themselves in that moment.

Thank you Caleb for your transparency, I needed to hear your story. I have been a widow since 2004 and I spent all these years in some kind of a holding pattern. Just going in circles and only pretending to try to move forward. But in reality I have been withdrawing more and more from the human race. I was thrilled when we had the 2020 lock downs because it meant that I could stay inside and I no longer had to pretend that I was living my own life. I could sleep all day and only have to talk to my three cats. I no longer had to get dressed or brush my hair. Sometimes I forget what my own voice sounded like. The city that I live in had riots and lots of shootings and high crime, so after the lockdown ended I used the fact that it was no longer safe to leave the house as my excuse. Now that things are getting a tiny bit more normal I have decided to sell my house and move deep into the mountains of West Virginia where I don’t know anyone and become a hermit. I think that that stupid plan, is my ‘walk to the mountain’. Other than 3 ducks and 6 chickens, and potted tomato plants, I have no clue about how to run a homestead. Everything I know, comes from a year of watching homestead videos on RU-vid. I am stuck in my grief and I don’t want to try to even pretend anymore. Your story helped me realize that I will not go backwards but I also can’t allow myself to just stand still for the rest of my life. I need to make a plan and seeing it through. Again, thank you.

Caleb, I Can't even imagine what you went through, Although i have lost a brother and sister, They passed away when i was a baby, so in a way i'm lucky, God protected me from really getting to know them. I know one day ill get to meet them, but i am thankful that i didn't have to really endure that feeling of loss. My older bother and sister did however know them, and i don't think i'll ever really know how they feel. The most important thing i think most people take for granted, is your family. Because we are not promised tomorrow, i think people need to just breath and tell your loved ones you love them. I can see how God has worked in your life, and how he will and has used you. And Granger, Thank you for being such a good friend, father, husband, brother, and son! Your always uplifting those around you. Even with the loss of Riv, You and Amber, God bless your hearts, Still used it for Gods glory. Your always there to be a helping hand, and an inspiration to the world. I’ve been known to have a Hyde episode or two myself. Its not something I’m proud of at all and this is the first time I’ve actually admitted it out loud. I found this video very interesting cause it allowed me to see how it controlled someone else almost exactly the same way it controlled me. Self inflicting pain, unstoppable, no chance of reasoning, just full speed ahead without caution. Its difficult more times than not to keep it locked away. And I agree with Caleb that once it goes far enough, $1 million dollars probably couldn’t stop it. Can’t wait to hear more about Caleb and Granger.

I've been there Caleb. Within a few years, I lost my only child, my teenage son, and I also lost both of my younger brothers. It leaves this empty space inside that my emotions bounce around, bounce through it, and sometimes get hung up in it. And when I get hung up in that empty spot, how I react and or respond depends on what mood my mind is in at that moment. Sometimes I'm so angry, other times I'm very emotional, then there are times I just want to be left alone, and sometimes for days. It's hard to explain, and hard for many to understand. I find a lot of my prayers is me praying that nobody else will ever have to go through this and feel the things and the way I feel. I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and God Bless.

Its crazy listening to this. I've been in this position as Jekyll and hyde more times than I'd like to admit, and pretty much the only thing that can calm me down is the police. So much of this really resonated with me. Took years and many relationships to fight hyde off. Took me being completely sober from alcohol for 8 years and having a daughter, for me to wake up.

I am #3 of 3 girls. We go by numbers too. 3girls 2 boys. I am still catching up on past pod cast. I have had to struggle with losing my brother. (#1. Lol) And it’s been years. And I still feel that pain. Praying for your and your family. God bless you Granger and your family. ♥️🙋🏻‍♀️🇺🇸

Absolutely, we want more Caleb. Appreciate you, Caleb, being willing to share your story. Liked how you put it, about dealing with grief. “It doesn’t get better; it gets different, and sometimes the different is the answer to prayers.” I am so sorry for your loss. You two are so funny. Granger: “I was Hillary.”🤣😂 Caleb: ...”Hard crossword puzzles or knitting pattern to not give up on.” “Khalid is a big fan of law enforcement.” ... having an “affinity to corrugated paper.” Being an “onion of a man.” I can see why y’all are such good friends. 🙏❤️
