This Campsite is 45 Minutes From Auckland City Center!
✨ | S01E16
In this episode, I go camping just 45 minutes west of Auckland, New Zealand's city center at Whatipu Beach. Is it worth it? You'll have to watch to find out. :-)

That was our hangout as a teenager back in the late 70s, early 80s, camping, fishing, diving, and the best part, hanging out with mates, with beers, and top shelf and beers.....you get my drift. Great days, great memories.❤

I can imagine what that looked like. Was the road there worse than it is now? 💜

@TheAudaciousPath yep, still gravel but much worse. I suppose there weren't too many people that went there then, because when we were there you could count, on one hand, how many tents were up.

Hopefully there haven’t been too many accidents. Seeing that car flip was crazy.

Heya! Glad you enjoyed! I’m definitely trying to include more locals in my videos lately, but I’m still coming out of my shell and gaining confidence after getting out of a long term toxic relationship last year. 💜

I must have camped at Whatipu 20 times, it is a great spot. Left of the rock at 7.25 there is an area that can be safe to swim but sadly its sand washed away in 2023 storms and is now just rocks. Up until a couple of years ago there was also a small campsite actually at the caves, further down that same walking track is Tunnel Point campsite (no water) and further still Pararaha Valley campground which has a freshwater stream.

My goal is to camp there, but the access point from the north side is closed at the moment. I also need to get my backpacking gear updated, as it’s all about a decade old right now! What a gem so close to Auckland!!! 💜💜💜
