I think the reason Jiang Cheng started to hate Wei Ying was because they grew up together, they knew everything about one another, but once Wei Ying came back from the burial mounds, that all changed. Wei Ying had secrets, seemed to have changed completely, he was doing things Jiang Cheng never thought he would be capable of (ex. the flute, managing to bring back Wen Ning, taking care of a bunch of Wen civilians, completely turning around and secluding himself, then later Jiang Cheng found out that Wei Ying gave his gold core to him). Not saying the way he treated Wei Ying was okay, but I understand that he felt very conflicted and maybe even betrayed considering he lost his parents and eventually lost his sister and brother.
I think his character is little dumb too unlike his smart sister. He knew WY will not hurt anyone but because other people blame him so under pressure he just threw WY in the fire alone to take all the blame and vent out all his anger on him too. For him it’s always to maintain his position in front of others more was important than supporting his brother even when no one was around. But he hated him the most when he thought because of WY his sister and brother in law were killed and his golden cord secrete came out.
@@DP-co6qx I agree to an extent - however, I believe that his focus and reliance on keeping his position was ingrained in him from always being compared to Wei Ying, because while Wei Ying made it clear that he did not want to become a sect leader, almost every sect leader (except Xichen) were pushing him, taunting him, using his brother against him - even his father would choose Wei Ying over him (because Wei Ying had little people in his corner, but Jiang Cheng was neglected by his father). Like I said, I do not excuse Jiang Cheng's behavior in the slightest (he's an asshole and very rude) but I do believe that there are two sides to every story and that this Jiang Cheng (Idk about the novel one bc I never read it) was traumatized and I blame the parents in this whole show for messing up their kids. Chang’s father took side of WY for mainly three reasons I think that Chang didn’t understand. 1) WY was orphaned and his friends son 2) He understood very well that WY is not a normal standard guy but in his ways he is very smart, capable, caring and loyal 3) most importantly he tried to protected him from his vicious wife who always hated and abused WY for not his fault. So Chang had only his mother loved him most but being a man and wanted to be a leader he needed his father’s faith in him and more love which made him jealous probably of WY.

i cry while watching this scene he hide everything the pain he feels but no one knows that he is suffering only wen ning in his sister knows about him 😭😭😭 but all the people sorround him only notice his evil not his goodness but thanks to LAN WANGJI always beside him☺️☺️

It has been a while and I don't remember accurately but I saw the donghua for this part recently. Wwx told Lan Zhan to bring him away from Lotus Pier and he would not return to this place again. He's so so disappointed and hurt, much more than physical pain he had endure when they dig out his golden core.

I believe that it is really difficult to do a few things as an actor. One, to laugh realistically on cue, two, to cry realistically on cue, three, to show the appropriate level of anger at different situations, four, to pretend to be in pain when you actually aren't, and five, to pretend to be sick when you actually aren't. Xiao Zhan pulls this off so effortlessly. He looks so weak and fragile here, barely able to stand and swaying on his feet when Jiang Cheng lets go. The way he struggles to draw breath and releases it, slowly realizing that he is bleeding, and finally collapses. It is art in itself to watch. Not to mention Wang Yibo. His character is just as difficult to pull off if not more because of the way Lan Zhan shows little emotion and practices self control for the majority of his scenes. In this scene however we can catch the anger, worry, panic, and sorrow he experiences because he can't control himself when it comes to Wei Ying. The Untamed is the franchise that it is because of them. They truly brought the characters to life.

I think you are a wee wrong. I truly don't think the brother hated him. Confused, jealous, angry, childish, and believe it or not as a Mother of 5 kids, 3 being boys, I believe the brother had so much hostility towards WY because he was hurt. He felt betrayed. He felt the feelings WY had for Lan Zhan a very long time ago, which was part of it, then when he became clan leader and WY made that promise to "share" it with him and didn't, more hurt. Even when things were very bad, like for instance, the day with the children, when there were all the puppets being made and a bunch of deaths, the same people WY saved I believe, the clan leaders and others came to where ever they were all trapped. And called them out. WY saved them. So everyone went out and Lan stood by his side even after Uncle demanded he come. Remember that scene. Well if you look close his brother / and clan didn't jeer or raise their swords and shout for his death. And when sister died , which resulted in WY death and brother coming over with sword about to kill him, that was rage at the moment, watching his beloved sister die, as well as already knowing his brother was long lost to him, he lost it. But hate, NO, I never felt that from him .
Just knowing the fact that our cheerful Wei Ying had a sad childhood seriously breaks my heart. 🥺😢😭 But a long way, he way found his soulmate in Lan Zhan. ❤

I can watch this scene over and over again. The love and sacrifice he made for Jiang Cheng; and then to be treated that way for those years because Jiang Cheng knew everyone thought he was nothing compared to Wei Ying… 😭 nothing but insecurity. Yanli was everything to Wei Ying and I loved how her support and love was unwaivering. Lil bro was weird and I’ll say it time and time again; he did not deserve Wei Ying 😭😭😭
