I'd love to see their writing process more. In Miss Americana there's a scene with them writing Getaway Car. And Taylor is singing the words she wrote, trying to make them work better. And Jack jumps in and kinda throws his idea out there singing it and they kinda went back and forth a little.
I agree with both of you when I listen to this track and fresh out the slammer it reminds me of cowboy like me. I can literally paint them as different scenes of the same universe in my head 😂
I saw a video of Matty Healy referring to artists as “cowboys” and Taylor was in attendance. Now people are speculating that cowboy like me was about Matty and that’s why this sounds like it because it’s also about him 😮
I think the style of the song is because that’s what it felt like. She had this crazy wild boyfriend, nobody thought it was the best idea ever (but her choice to make!) and from this and a couple of other songs it seems they had a «us against the world» thing going on. But daddy I love him was defiant, this sounds more dangerous and dark, like it was starting to become clear to her that maybe it wasn’t good for her somehow.
I have not heard this one yet so I’m interested to hear it. Oh I get the Americana kind of sound. Oh wow Nonnie and a Clyde is what I was seeing too. I liked it but needed one more chorus at a different speed. But liked it😊
She thought Matty was perfect for her, then everyone starts criticizing him. She doesn't think he needs fixing, but he runs due to the criticism, saying she is better off without him... something she can't fix about him. He didnt try, he ran. When that happens, she's heart broken, from then breakup with Joe and then Matty...so off to Florida!!! To forget it all!!! 😢
