I can't believe I'm about to say this... 

Every time they buff a card there’s always a chance this happens. I do enjoy the fact that Obsidian Shard is actually playable in wild now.

I've faced more and more treant druid each day at high legend, i can assure you that if you look at this statistics 1 week from now you'll see a lot more of that hellish deck and much less rogue

I've played against a few Excavate Rogues. The deck doesn't seem particularly broken, mostly comes down to RNGing into good spells from Scorpion. 90% of my games are against Druid though. Treant Druid, Dragon Druid, Nature Druid... So god damn annoying playing against Druid all the time and it's all the same "Flood the board" BS so you need like 400,000 board wipes or you just die.

A version of this deck is also catching on in Wild, but I like that it's more tempo heavy and quick. It's not the most aggressive deck, but it can certainly tick your HP down if you sleep on it since 0-mana Obsidian Shards and Gnolls are good tempo

At this point people cry about classes even having a chance to win.

I love that rogue deck because it's simply fun to play. It also need a fair share of luck because it's never guaranteed that you will "steal" the cards you need in a specific situation.

Still think Renathal was nerfed for asia 2minute/game smartphone meta Don't have a problem with rogue atm, just another random highroll deck, can be annoying if it steamrolls and in other games you just win cause of bad random

The only nerf I’d like to see is vel getting a 2 attack nerf. The issue with him isn’t his survivability when he’s played, it’s rogue’s ability to bounce him back over and over and chip away 3 dmg to your face, similar to doc’s weapon pre nerf

Treant Druid is most of what I face in Diamond and I hate going against it

Treant druid is absolutely disgusting, i winned games on turn 4/5 while the opponent couldn't do anything

i think the buff to velarok was absolutely insane, but it was needed in todays game. i honestly hope they don't change it because i'm willing to bet that they're going for burgle rogue for next rotation and if that means mech rogue will die a horrible and painful death then i am ALL for it :)

Excavate Rogue is a pretty common deck now but, it's not OP, depending on what you're playing.

As someone who has been given the sudden drive to climb from silver all the way to diamond (So Far) before the end of this season by the buffing of this deck, I can 100% say I've got bias. This deck for me has been one of the most fun experiences I've had in HS in a long time. The randomness can be kinda scary and sometimes pretty stupid but I can definitely see why people wanna be playing this. The Velarok nerf suggestion is very valid tho, way too much health. I have done some wacky trades to get out of really sticky situations that could only work because I was running a 3/6 into stuff.

The RNG factor in this type of decks is in my opinion boon and bane at the same time. On one hand it can be frustrating to play against this type of decks, because of their nature of being unpredictable (and by the way, the same argument counts for playing this deck yourself too). BUT here is why I think people love playing this type of decks, including myself: Due to its RNG factor, every single game feels different. You create different win conditions, different solutions to your opponents plays. Each game you need to figure out new synergies with the given card and adapt your strategy (sometimes it's a more aggro play style, sometimes you aim for control. That makes the games much more creative and to some extend unpredictable. I mean, I just can not understand how people can sit there a whole game session, playing boring stuff like dragon druid and not get bored to death. Surely there is some kind of inner pressure for hitting your goal (e.g. hitting legend) and therefore playing the statistically faster and a little bit more successful decks. Playing hearthstone for years it has been always the same pattern for me: after I hit legend (usually playing 3-4 different decks) I tend to try out all the other decks which are played in the meta. At this point the real fun begins so to speak. I guess that might be an explanation for pick rate of this particular deck in legend.

"Astalor, Kobold Miner and Finley have had their time" sure is something Blizzard hasn't been saying, even though they have 35%+ playrate. I'm still salty about the Renathal nerf, even more since they added crap like Sif. Velarok could be changed to be less of a highroll early game card, make it require 2 cards played or 3 but count without it being in hand.

I've played thief rogue all through last year and now im playing pure reno druid (only nourish duplicates) at 300ish legend. I can confidently say that most excavate rogue players try to play it as a high roll deck when in reality there's very little high roll possible for what it needs (tempo). If they'd played it as a tempo deck focusing on the 3/6 charge instead of the scorpion, wr would be much higher. You can't highroll mage dragons or the 9 mana spell like last year, there aren't such powerfull spells now. But the ones i've faced that focus on the 3/6 and getting azshara down quick are scary

My games lately have been split between that Rogue deck, Treant Druid, and Thadius bs. Between the 3 of them, I much prefer playing against the rogue deck. Sure its random nonsense but it can make for fun games still. The other 2 feel like non-games most of the time to me. The only time I feel a bit bad about facing rogue is when the turn 1 or 2 Velerok and that kinda sucks but I feel like that can be fixed with a super minor nerf that doesn't hurt the card/deck to much

I both love playing as and playing against Excavate Rogue. It’s fun and a good deck but by no means op. And I’m currently doing very well against it with Thaddius Druid 😈

The ONLY validity there is to calling for a nerf of thia deck is that there can be a feelsbad element to it when you lose to randomly generated random, generating random randomness, randomly. I've bene having ao much fun with this deck trying to climb a bit this month after farting around in bronze, acheivement farming and im pretty sure I was on a winstreak all the way to gold where I had 2 losses back to back and went on another winstreak again. There definitely were some games where I managed to kill my oponent from like 20ish hp thanks to velarok bounces and his random discoveries.

In diamond all I play are excavate rogues. Maybe all my opponents are super lucky with their random cards they get but I’m always dead by turn 5-6 ☠️☠️

The only thing that freaks me out is that: 7:14 Yogg is in the list of the most played cards and it costs 9. And it was basically costing 0 for quite some time. Just insane. Not a point of the video, i know, but im wild player so i cant really relate to mining rogue being a problem

Well ive always loved Rogue .I dont think it needs a nerf since its not broken. Most of the time i play the scorpion i would say i get a round 20% of goods cards out of him. Now most of the matches that ive lost were against Druid and those annoying golem dragons BS

They need to focus on making every class fun, because right now I’d say most classes have unfun play patterns

I play Excavate Rogue in legend because it's fun and I no longer need to care about my rank. If I wanted a deck for climbing ranks, I'd probably play something else.

Excavate rogue is popular, not because is really strong, but because is really funny. Druid, in the other way... That needs a nerf

It doesn't need to be nerfed. As a high level legend player, it's largely RNG.

I reached legend for the 1st time this month, while playing Rogue... it was Mech Rogue, though, not Excavate Rogue.

Tesscavate Rogue is just a very fun deck, which is why its so common but it doesn't seem broken at all. Just enjoy the chaos. Edit: And this is why you should always finish watching the video before commenting because Zeddy reaches the exact same conclusion, with evidence to support the claim instead of my biased bull****.

I love my Diamond Velorok, don't nerf him! In recent times, I've found myself gravitating towards Rogue as a whole and I'm thinking of just maining it and being a Rogue player. I'm currently playing Reno Rogue with excavate, burgle etc just because it's plain fun and because I need the 100 Highlander win achievement. I feel this is the best and fun way to go about that achievement.

I could see they nerfing Velarok if it had higher numbers. It'd be Reno Shaman all over again, a decent deck pushed by one single card. The numbers aren't as ridiculous as doc's tho, so don't see it happening.

I don’t think the deck should be Nerf. I have faced them a couple of different times on ladder and I didn’t have that bad feeling it was still fun and I still won.

Mining rogue is a tempo deck that most people are not skilled enough to play.

I hope they don't nerf it, i have been desperate to play burgle rogue, and this core would make it viable on ladder. I would be so annoyed if i actually got the legendary in a pack only after the whole deck has been nerfed.

Rogue it's perfectly fine, i think Druid and Paladin are the two classes that keep feeling better than the rest by a lot.

We all know it. When a new card with ‘Discover’ or some kind of RNG mechanic comes out, the discover/RNG gives you incredible picks, therefore people play the new card and it wins. Late in the season or when a new set comes out it gives you crap, it loses, people stop playing it.

ive been playing a lot of blood DH, at 60% wins, if i go againts treant druid im almost always win, ex rogue and priest are difficult to beat depending on starts though.

Idk if rogue is broken right now, but gosh it's annoying to face them every time, it's probably the fact that peoples are bored by mage gameplay and now that rogue is playable they switched class, theses type of value-oriented decks are very fun to play so peoples play them a lot

Been hovering around 500-1k EU playing a variety of decks and I'm personally not bothered by rogue. Velarok needs adjusting but I dont see an issue with the other cards. In contrast, I absolutely hate thaddius and cannot wait for blizzard to finally take care of that stupid mess.

Treat druid is the only problem deck right now

My issue with rogue is of course the random spells. By turn 5 or 6 they usually have an entire new hand full of random cards. Nit to mention the 20 bounce effects they have. I really hope shadowstep goes away soon

Rogue is broken when it draws like 5 of its best cards and it is just pretty good when it doesn't. On top of that, the majority of your opponents as Rogue are other Rogues, and Druids. Dragon Druid destroys Rogue and Treants is like 50/50 (depending, unsurprisingly, on your draw). That said, it's still a broken deck, just not as broken as Dragon Druid. Treant Druid isn't played because it's the strongest or easiest, and people don't drop it because it's not fun. It's just because it's an aggro deck with mostly good matchups that it's good for climbing. Nobody wants to play a grindy deck when they have to rush 100 games to get Legend at the end of the season. Personally I found Plague DK and Naga DH to have great matchups for the end of season climb but it gets frustrating playing them nonstop unless you just winstreak straight to legend. Grinding on ladder is tiring no matter what, so people want to get it over with. Again, Treant is not as broken as Dragon Druid imo. Treant Druid is a necessary deck in the meta also because it pressures Rogue, Dragon Druid and Thaddius OTK decks. It has pretty bad matchups against Paladin and Naga Priest though. I am pretty sure that its playrate is going to fall off going into the start of the new season. Not only because it's not end of season crunch time anymore, but also, aggro decks have a tendency to explode on the scene to prey on the slower meta decks, and then fall off as people learn to play against them and actually tech for them. Like you implied with Naga DH, the stats don't really tell the whole story. This whole "Rogue is more fun than Druid" thing is obviously not something that can be gleaned from stats alone, it's an interpretation. I don't think that's really all that's going on, personally.

There’s literally nothing the Rogue deck is doing that other decks just aren’t doing. “Bullshit go” will always be popular, it’s why people gravitated to Rainbow Mage before it just became Sif OTK.

It seems more and more of these decks are popping up lately that require more skill to play. For example last year, Boar Priest, then Naga Mage, now Naga Priest, Naga Demon Hunter, as well as Excavate Rogue. The only one that seems to be able to play them all consistently is Pockettrain, which I guess is a testament to why he is the world champion this year.

At least rogue is functioning as intended. Idk what blizzard expects priest players to do with cards like Elise when the class in general simply can’t do highlander even with stupidly strong cards like Reno and Amanthul.

An RNG-based deck should be a meme deck at meme power levels. It shouldn’t be tier 2.

For me the biggest issue is velarok having charge: I thought I was safe with 14 health with a good board, but rogue just shadow stepped Velarok twice, which left me at 6 health and then discovered some burn in the process, all costing 0 mana. I'd like it simply for it to have rush, leave at 6 health so it doesn't die easily and rogue can keep shadow stepping it, but it deals too much face damage from hand, without interaction.

can he have rush not charge I would be fine if it wasn't I get chraged for five turns cause they keep bouncing it too thier hands

The deck is fine. A popular deck isn't always an indicator that it's overtuned.

Idk i have a game where a rogue played 22 cards on turn 5 and i think thats a bit too much imo. and by a bit i mean like 18ish cards too many

i was so tired with the meta pre patch that i rarely played ladder, but this buffed excavate rogue is so much fun to play that i didn't even realize how much games i've played already(a lot), but i agree velarok is a bit too strong and deserves some sort of nerf

Watch as Blizzard nerf rogue just because all of those legend players, even though it's not at all a problem for the climb. Actually, this could be a fun little experiment.

I've had a preddy bad losing streak, gone down to 2.2K legend, I felt like alright, this season can get in the bin. 2-3 days later I tred Bunnyhoppor's version of Excavate Rogue and I climbed back to top 700 in EU, had a 70% winrate in 30 games which is incredible in top 1-2K legend in my opinion. Once you understand the deck it's actually ridiculous how fast and overwhelming it can be, and you basically look for one of the two openers, either get an early Velarok opener, or Shattershambler into Illusionist, once you have one of these two you have a chance against pretty much anything. I don't think the deck is opressing, but I can agree that it's frustrating to play against it because you can't really play around it. Sure, there are some aspects that are counterable, but most of the wincons of the deck is just randomly generated cards. But also if you play this Excavate Rogue poorly you can end up with basically dead hands pretty easily. I had games where I used both Finley and Gear Shift in the first 2 turns, so that I can get a somewhat usable opener. Although the only card I would change is Velarok. It's really strong if you get it down on turn 3-4 and with the several bounce effects rouge has that card can basically solo win the game. The Excavate reward is also really good but not that annoying with the not less than one text being on the card. But the root of the problem and why it is frustrating to play against this type of rogue is all the bounce effects the class has. With Shadowstep and Breakdance, those cards give you such ridiculous combos and value overloads some decks simply can't handle. getting 3 Velaroks down on turn 5, having multiple astalors for lategame, these are outs that are simply not good for the game.

It’s fun not great that’s why I play it. Takes skill also unlike most decks.

Velarok is annoying. 6 toughness is so hard to deal with. Plus rogue has evasion spells make it real hard to kill it.

I find it's pretty easy to beat, I've been playing Odyn warrior.

honestly, at most, nerf velarok just a tiny bit, other then that, no need for any nerfs to rogue, i still say sif should go to 0 spell damage

Thaddius needs to be nerfed. Rogue is fine. It is a fun deck amd doesn't feel bad to play against.

I think velarok is too good right know, i think a health nerf or attqck will be good enough
