i was only 2 when this set came out but there were still packs in stores when i was 4 when i started collecting. some of my earliest memories are opening up these sets.

Wooper & Psyduck are drawn by Keiko Fukuyama, one of my all time favorite illustrator, quite rare cards as she didn't draw too many pokemon cards, only a few in Skyridge, Aquapolis & the stunning southern island set.

Having being born in 1990 I grew up with these cards. I have the houndoom and tyranitar in my folder. I gave them to my son. It’s nostalgic to see these packs being opened and reminded of how great those times actually were.

vintage openings are bittersweet in the sense that you don't get a whole lot of pulls, so you could very well be betting a lot of money on a dud pack; but when you do get a holo, the feeling you get is like no other!

i cant be the only one who feels like somewhere out there is a person still printing OG set boosters. but printing them to be authentic... think back 10-13 years ago right? it felt like you had the last few in existence sitting in front of you when you saw even just one or two of them, the plastic on most of them now peels different like its freshly printed even.. now people have like 40 of them to hold onto with some of the more rich collectors having even more than that. (im looking at you kenli) and more of them popping up by the year? its just hella strange. rather than seeing less of them go around, i am steadily seeing more of them go around. 1st edition base set shadowless booster boxes even pop up in pokemon "waffle" groups on facebook.. so they are so plentiful that even random 9-5 workers have a few just laying around now. and fossil set???? more of that junk out there now than when it was even printed? make it make sense. think of how many of these "authentic old boosters" youtubers and people open on live streams. yet there is never a smaller amount going around. idek just a stoned though but ima let it cook fr.

its possible, i agree, aquapolis was short printed as it is.. in europe where im from i would guess most of them were sold or just lost or whatever when the craze was dying down even if the sales were bad someone would cut the price just to get rid of them.. most of us were kids back then and nobody thought about keeping them , now its possible that ofcourse some people have OG boxes, but it is suspicious that they just pop on the market more and more.. pokemon is very popular and alot of money is going around it so naturally there will be frauds.. the only thing is someone printing these boxes is possible but in order to make it look real it has to be done by expensive machines and printers.. so who could be doing that ? average joe ? probably not

I agree. I have seen some master counterfeiters in tv shows for money, other products etc. I wouldn’t put it past being a possibility that someone somewhere out there, or even someone with inside knowledge could very well be doing it, like a Pokémon card printing machine sweat shop🤣 I’m just hopelessly spitting words with no truth or knowledge but it could be the case, I’ve seen harder things to replicate be replicated successfully though 😵‍💫 just seems strange how many pop up back to back, not even the same people either there’s just a countless supply of these old booster boxes it’s just weird idk. Hell they may just be overstock from old cars shops that never sold and are circulating, lots of possibilities, little answers I guess

@@destinysims6056 i think that "overstock" isnt really an option since pokemon was so popular back then everything with pokemon in its name would sell especially cards.. it would be pretty hard to imagine 100s or even 1000s of aquapolis or base set 1st ed boxes lying around
