Top Tips from the comment section so far: - Hot glue the capcitor down and get rid of polystyrene as it's nasty stuff if it burns - Wear gloves in case of freyed cables - It's a 60 'micro' farad not a 60 farad capcitor - The unit is not water proof, so do not have it permanently fixed to a truck or anything outside.

The control should have the words UP and DOWN linked to the arrows. When using 2 connection points at half speed,the fact that the safety off switch doesn’t activate when the cable reaches its upper limit means that this device doesn’t comply with safety standards when used in this operational mode

That winch has a powerful union. 20%/10 min means it will work for 2 minutes but must rest for the other 8 minutes to avoid overheatng the motor. Lighter loads will allow for a longer work time in the same 10 minute shift.

On the double rope, move the cut-off disc to the new position, so it is going to activate the cut-off switch. 😁It should undo to move it first, then couple up the sheave block.

Hi Joshua, I needed to design and build an automated pool cover retracted. A standard 1.5Kw motor and reduction box priced out to $1200.00. I converted the hoist at $250.00, awesome solution.

Polystyrene is known to react to the cable insulation and can eventually cause exposed copper exactly where you don't want it. (The Electrical Safety Office in Australia released an alert about polystyrene products a couple of years ago, up until that point we had used expanded foam to seal cable entries into buildings etc, not anymore).

@Dean hi, I made two RSJ "goal posts" that went down the length of the building that stood up just below the ceiling and just in from the outer walls, I then ran another large RSJ across the building that runs on a RSJ trolly a each end that runs on the gaol posts. Then the electric hoist was attached to a third RSJ trolly this is the one that pulls across the building. Made all the brackets out of large 90 degree angle iron, all bolted together with large quantity nuts and bolts instead of welding. If I remember correctly it's made from 8x6 RSJs. Hope that makes sense and helps

If modifying for a remote bear in mind it's reaction time and also you want something that can't stick in an on position or do other weird stuff which I've had with some cheap remotes. An E Stop would have been nice to see as a backup to the switches.

Nice! The (harborfreight) HF Pittsburg model is either the same or a good clone.. however the HF model comes w/wired remote only, while this VEVOR is not only cheaper, but is available with a Wireless Remote and still cheaper! 👍😎✊

Thought I might buy one of these for my shop, for lifting stoves around, but the UK link is (as mentioned above) out of stock, with no option to pre order, so I've had to get mine from Machine Mart, and it looks to be the exact same winch, just a bit dearer. Enjoying your videos and getting lots of ideas from you. Keep up the good work.

Hi Joshua, nice review as usual 👌 I have the same system in my workshop but a lighter version, max 400kg ( dont need a heavy one). But it does help if you have a bad back 😬 For info: the capacitor is there to make a 3-fase motor work on 1-fase + neutral. It creates a fase deflection (120°)( 3-fase x120°= 360°) to power the 3th winding in the motor and your switch brings power to one side or the other of that 3th winding and makes the motor spin left or right. When your capacitor fails or blows up 😵‍💫, the motor does not start anymore but may make a humming noise as only 2 motor windings are powered. It's possible it will start if you give it a little push or twist in the correct direction but it will not have it's full power. Hope this makes sense 😉

I think it is a split phase motor, up n down switch changes which of the two phase coils is made active. The second phase follows at 90 degrees phase shift due to LC lag.
@luckystar4779

@@alwayscensored6871 Hi, I have to disagree 🤔. A split phase motor does not use a capacitor and is more used for motors with little starting torque below 1 kW as fans, blowers and...

I would get rid of the polystyrene. I would pot it with silicone not hot glue. Now heat an old ford model t’s tremble coil pack was potted around the coil and capacitor with tar and a lot of them is still working after a 100 years. So I don’t think you would damage the capacitor.

Is everything from Vevor £120? Because I just watched your diesel heater video, that was £120. Few weeks ago I bought an electric sliding gate motor from them, yes you guessed it, £120.

Is it possible to change the wire (and the wire holder) to have a 60m wire instead? I would use it for pulling up a carriage to the highest part of my land.
@joshuadelisle
@joshuadelisle 3 месяца назад
It's possible that you could modify it if you have fabrication skills. You'll just be using the motor and gear chain to drive an extra large spool. You just want to make sure the cable rewinds neatly and evenly otherwise it can cause problems. Cheers J

@jonathanrose456
@jonathanrose456 Год назад
@Dean 😂😂😂 He asked for advice from a professional electrician. I’d imagine he meant appliance engineer but, as I’ve over 30 years experience in both… Capacitors overheat. Appliances are designed with that in mind. If the capacitor overheats, it puts strain on it & other components, including the motor. Without an exact makeup of the circuit components, I wouldn’t be able to tell if it would overheat to that extent so, I’ve advised, in my professional capacity, to check the polystyrene that is packing it for signs of melting. This would be a good indication of inadequate ventilation. There’s plenty of brackets designed for capacitors should the polystyrene be a fail but, as a pro, he’d know that already. Just one part of the circuit really needs shhh’ing & that would be you 😂

Thanks for your disclosure at the start of the video! I just want to point out your wording - you say you are not being paid, yet you were given the hoist for free. This actually counts as 'payment in kind' and from a legal perspective you are being paid. Not trying to knock you at all, the rest of the review us useful and it's obvious that you're not a shill for the manufacturer. Just safer to leave that out of the disclosure and focus on the positive things - you received the hoist for free but the manufacturer doesn't have any editorial control over your video, and you don't receive any other kickbacks.
