That's a beautiful story! Thanks for sharing. In my case, I have been watching Itchy Boots episodes since almost the begining and I did the same your father did. I have involved my daughter into this passion and we ended up both buying the same original bike (Royal Enfield Himalayan) Noraly had when she started her world adventure in India. And here we are, sharing together adventures on great dirt roads in Argentina :-)

I echo your sentiments. Noraly makes Monday, Wednesday and Friday bearable.

I worked in a fast paced demanding job but would go to a tree lined street with a stream and put my feet in the water while listening to the water. It energized me for the afternoon and gave me peace for a while.

Offices w/o at least one window should NOT be allowed (I think that's the code in EU, but pls correct me). It's been known for yrs that such claustrophobic workspaces are socio-mental traps that significantly reduces productivity (and work is 99% productivity). Also no-window bedrooms should be banned. However, I have no comments on the (re-)productivity aspects ... haha.

Yes, she certainly is a positive note in today's world!! I wish there were more people like her around...looking for the good in every road, no matter what, even when having to backtrack nearly 2 hours, rain or shine, or digging out of mud, she finds a way to not be stuck, in attitude or life. We can all take a good look at how one does that, and live better lives! A true example of courage, positivity and plain old joy! Thank goodness!!! The influence just one person can have can change so much for so many. Good on her!

Hey thanks😎and Greetings from Germany. My dear Friend and Neighbor for 12years died last year... She was 93. And I always tried to cheer her up, especially when she lived in nursing home at the end. A very good way is to send letters or post. Bc nobody does that any more. I am a Carpenter and hobby wood turner, and had a little woodshop with my Lathe in her late husband's garage. So I made her a bunch of spinning tops, and in the evenings we sometimes would sit in her kitchen, playing with them on a tray.. Good memorys. I guess what I wanted to say is this: you could make some Screenshots and arrange them online for some Itchy boots Postcards. then send her one every week. I know this would be fun for you both! Sharish the time you have together! 😉😀👍

Exactly, all the people live nearby but they live up in the hills or down long roads and it would take the mailman so much time and energy not to mention him maybe not even being able to get to some of those houses or ranches so they put them all at the bottom of the hill and the homeowners go and get their mail from there.

Mailman do not travel on private roads or common right of ways. In a few locations they do deliver by horse back and pack mule

My sense of history perspective or horizon was re-calibrated when I went to Iceland and stopped briefly at the farm Drangur where reportedly, Eiric Rauthi (Eric the Red) killed someone and fleeing justice took ship westward and discovered Greenland. That was about the year AD 950. Also, the hot pool at the front door of Snorri Sturluson's house; he wrote the sagas in or about AD 1130 and the stone-lined pool is still there and the water is very hot. So is the semi-buried sod house but of course the sod will have been rejuvenated many times since then.

As a USAF vet of 12 years who lived in Europe for 6 years and SE Asia for 4 years, it was my last two years and my years as a civvy on assignment traveling the US that had more impact on me. I can safely say we are all proud of the country and in particular, all it has to offer with regard to the travel/scenery/environments.

It's not just a us thing. You see it all over europe in remote areas too. Just not in the Netherlands, because nobody has a two mile driveway. The closest thing to it is the entrance of an apartment building with a wall of mailboxes.

The letter carriers of course are driving a car or a pickup truck for a stipulated daily payment and it would add up to a fortune in fuel and many hours to deliver the few letters and more advertising mail to the remote ranch houses which may be twenty or more km from the main road . These rows of many mailboxes are also common at the entrances to mobile home parks to simplify life for the mail deliverers . Many remote ranchers solve their mail reception by renting a post office box in the nearest small town and go pick it up maybe once a week . Most will have internet connection now so it is not greatly urgent business in the mail . An added factor is the proliferation of city people moving out into backcountry rural settings in order to " be off the grid " or to " work remotely " at an office job .Others see it as an escape and survival strategy to prepare for the social upheaval and anarchy they fear is coming . Houses are popping up in the unlikeliest locations so when a forest fire or range fire erupts out of control they often enough get burned out .

@@freddygarcia3049 Not really - they are likely ranchers, and their drives may be between 2 and 10 miles long. Most of them are compounds, with fairly large homes and living quarters for the employed ranch hands, along with buildings for equipment and in some cases horses. They may have shops to repair needed equipment or fabricate items for horses. Most have electric and perhaps gas, so not off grid totally, but likely run from well water and septic systems instead of a water main and sewer system. Likely no cable or internet, some may have cell coverage.

@@susie2251 mailbox is place on start of private road or driveway as in everywhere, so that is not the issue! the problem is range or their driveway might be a few miles off dirt/gravel road! there is no way USPS is going to waste gas and time for single delivery, so either group of mailbox on main intersection or pickup your mail at your local post office

The YNP visitor center has that great loop video showing ignorant tourists being tossed 10 feet into the air by bison. It's not only the bison, but the moose and the bears, and the hot pools, and just about everything else! "Death in Yellowstone" is a book every American traveler should read.

You obviously need to check out the guy she spent time with in Moab's channel.

She is light and carries only the necessities. In a recent video she commented on the loss of performance due to the shop not having the right parts. It's a fine line and many choose to have passing and interstate speed instead of a more off road machine

There is a hiking trail which follows the Continental Divide all the way from Mexico to Canada. It's considered the most difficult of long distance hikes you can do in the US.

I grew up on the divide in the Rockies in Canada. It was always fascinating to me because on both sides of the divide in this area there are several lakes thus rivers flowing out from them. The lake that backs right up to the divide on the east side has a river flowing towards the east and the lake immediately next to it, but on the west side of the divide has a river coming out of it that flows west. Yet unless one was cognizant of that fact, they would never know they just crossed the continental divide.

Colorado is amazing, have lived here over 40 years. A trip out here is a must!

I’m a Canadian but I’ve lived in the States at various times and it is indeed America the Beautiful. You should be proud. Never been to Colorado though, it’s on my list.

Eric, you really must go out west. I am in Illinois. I just took a friend out to Arizona, Utah and Colorado. He had never been out west before. He was speechless. That was back in May. That trip is all he talks about now. Please do yourself a favor and travel out west. You will not be disapointed.

I am a native Texan but, have been coming to Wyoming since '82. My buddy has a cabin on the N. Platte between Saratoga and Rawlins. Wyoming is a great state. I love it that people pass it by.

I spend most of my time @ Rock Springs and Kemmerer, but I should explore a little more further east up by Rawlings. I do drive through there when heading up to Eastern Montana, but I’ve never spent time mooning around.

Common to have boulders too large to move, roll onto mountain roads; you have to dynamite to get either through or around.

I quit my office job and started driving OTR trucking and it is not like all the news channels reporting, most of the place and people are so nice and I love this country than any other place in the world. And I am an immigrant who worked and lived in many other countries and always prefer this country than any other place in the world

Yes, I live along the front range in Colorado and have for 40 years. The state is very beautiful and I am very glad I moved here at age 30.

Reminds me of this place I found in the woods where one creek crossed another without joining. First and last time I've seen that. Woody debris and rocks bridged the other creek and they crossed each other and continued independently.

The Continental Divide also splits in south-central Wyoming where it forms a sub-basin of the Greater Green River Basin, aptly named the Great Divide Basin. The Great Divide Basin drains internally making it endorheic.

Bison originally roamed as far east as New England.

So was I. I wasn't sure what kind of a time schedule she was on at first, so I didn't know if she'd be able to take the scenic routes like she has in other countries. Didn't think she'd get anywhere near Colorado or now Wyoming.
