I’m so sorry you had such a terrible experience at Pearson. As a Canadian, I’m honestly embarrassed by how atrocious that airport is. Apparently, they laid off many of their staff during COVID and haven’t been able to fully restaff, which is why their security opens so late in the morning and their customs is understaffed. I’ve had the exact same situation as you on my early morning flights from Pearson and been minutes away from missing my flights. As others mentioned, it is considered to be one of the worst airports in the world right now. All this to say, don’t give up on travel, Freddy, just give up on Pearson! Glad you enjoyed Toronto though!

Toronto airport is a nightmare. Literally the worst. Customs before you fly is very normal in Canada, and when done properly it is so lovely to do it before, so then you don't have to worry during your layover. But I'm so sorry this happen!!!

I can just imagine the sheer stress of standing in a long queue at the airport that isn't budging as time is ticking away minute by minute to the point where your flight is due to depart, and then you rush to the gate only to just miss it. What a nightmare. Having no control over the situation just makes it all the more frustrating. Such a shame to have your trip cut short. It seemed beautiful up until that point and the Canadian people seem like a lovely bunch. Very glad you didn't delete your vlog and erase all those memories because Toronto looks beautiful.

Oh I love that lady who complimented you on your boots! I’ve had similar experiences when I went to America and found the people there to be so much nicer and more open minded. It’s such a nice gesture to compliment strangers, it will brighten up their day and it’s just such a lovely thing to do. 💗 Also Aritzia has stores in the US as well and they have a beautiful selection. As devastating as that story time has been, maybe it’s comforting to think that even if you went there 4hrs early it probably wouldn’t have made a difference and something in the universe just tells you it’s better to go next year. 💗

Oh Freddy! Toronto is absolutely wonderful (loved the Toronto footage!) but yes, that airport is a nightmare! I just flew there and back from NYC recently and I had a cancelled flight and three hour delay and the crowds at incoming customs were so bad at one point that they wouldn’t let people off the flights from the US because the customs hall was a fire hazard! So you aren’t alone but I’m so sad for your disappointment! It will be wonderful when you do finally go. ❤

I just watched another vlog with a Canadian wife and a British husband who now live in Nashville, TN, USA, who both said that this particular airport in Toronto, Canada, is an absolute nightmare. They said out of all of the Western nations, that Pearson International Airport, is by far "the worst".

I miss Canada so much. It's my favorite place on Earth. My dad is Canadian and my happiest days of my childhood were in Canada. My grandparents lived in the country and it was such a peaceful, quiet life. Walks down the long gravel road. Three trampolines in the backyard. The occasional train in the distance. The neighbor's dogs and horses you could pet. I believed that fairies lived in their garden until I was like 13. Oh and spiders everywhere in their basement, haha. Lots of tomato soup and noodles, homemade pizza gone wrong, eating Jello while watching cartoons - oh and Oprah, haha. Etc. My family is planning a trip to go back - hopefully soon! It's been much too long. Fingers crossed for my graduation trip!

Wow I’m so sorry your flight was such a mess! The same thing happened to me at De Gaulle airport also with American Airlines. They are kind of known for being awful with customer service, so I wasn’t surprised when you said they left you. I really feel your pain though I’ve never been more panicked in my life when it happened!! Honestly I’m never going to Paris again unless I take the train from London. But overall I’m glad Toronto seemed to go so well! Cheers from Texas💕

Totally relate to your story at the airport ❤ I had exactly the same thing last week at Heathrow terminal 3! I was traveling for work and after 2h in the security queue I got a notification that my flight was boarding. I’m quite junior and I’m always afraid of the consequences if I lose a flight and they have to reschedule 🤯 So… I ended up asking ~100 people ahead of me in the queue to let me go. And believe it or not, everyone understood and let me skip ahead! I made it to my flight at the very last call, all thanks to the kindness of the other travelers ❤ Next time I’m going 5h in advance to the airport!

That's so sad about your flight. You could try calling your bank and explaining what happened. It happened to me once that a website let me book a flight that was impossible to make, because of the immigration lines at the connecting flight + an airport transfer. I called my bank from the airport and they reversed the charge because they agreed they shouldn't have sold it to me. Airlines treat customers terribly. Everyone has a story - I have like 3 more! I think in a few weeks you'll be able to look back on the trip with happy memories.

Hello Freddy, I had a similar experience a few years ago but on other circumstances. Back in 2016 my dad past away and l had to be back home for the ceremony. I was working in Nice and had to flight to Albania. I took the first flight home but with one layover to Frankfurt. Once l arrived l passed 4 hours on the security line so my flight left. I bought another ticket from Germany but with one layover to Rome. I spent 8 hours in the airport because someone had forgotten a luggage and they were suspecting for a bomb or something. Everyone was evacuated. Finally l arrived around 3am at my place the other day. I was traumatized for life because l was alone and on top of it l had to think of my dad. Worst experience l've ever had!

I recently had my first bad travel experience. Had a flight with 1 layover. The first flight was delayed but they told everyone to still take that flight, even if you would miss your connection, and if you had to stay overnight the airline would put you up in a hotel. Then when we all got to the layover city the airline said they wouldn't help anyone who had missed their flight. It was horrible.

I was late 7 minutes at the gate. Long story short, I spent 3 days at the airport (2 other flights that they re-booked for me were cancelled) with no help from the customer service. @cloud__99
@cloud__99 Год назад
I’m sorry this happened to you! I can totally relate. I had a HORRIBLE experience at Toronto airport myself last year. I was there just for layover on my way from Vancouver to NY with over an hour to catch my next flight. Comfortably enough time for a connecting flight in my thinking since luggage is checked, you’re already in the security cleared zone etc… But no. First it was half a world trip from where I arrived to the other gate. 25 minutes walking. When I arrive there is ANOTHER full security check. Wth? I never had to do this before on a connecting flight. The whole point is that you’re not allowed to leave the secure area, just walk gate to gate. Made no sense to me. Then also got stuck in the immigration queue I did not know about. They had 2/10 counters open. This might be normal in Canada and sure it saves you time upon arrival but it is not anywhere else in the world! I’ve been to the US many times, never had to do that. And I was not the only one either, like with you, people left and right of me were freaking out and missing their flights. Would it hurt to let people know this process happens in advance? Like put up signs, send an email whatever. I got plenty of emails about Covid procedure from the airline but not this. Especially since they obviously know about this problem and missing passengers are a huge hassle for the airline. Through a lucky coincidence I actually misread the time for my connecting flight and thought I was much later than I actually was so I ran to the gate, security let me pass through faster etc. If I had just casually walked over like I normally do bc I thought I had plenty of time in my understanding I would’ve 100% missed my flight. As it was I arrived just in time at the dirtiest, dingiest gate ever. Not here to bash all Canadian airports, Vancouver was the best airport experience I ever had. So chill, so nice. But this was terrible. And I don’t understand people who say here “you should’ve googled the airport“. Airport procedure is pretty much the same everywhere, especially if you fly somewhere you‘ve been many times before. I don’t really expect something to happen I never heard of before and therefore feel a need to google the airport. Anyway…sorry for loosing myself in my own little rant here 😅 The point is, you’re not the only one and it’s not your fault. I hope you could get a few days to relax after that disaster and can still keep the rest of your time in Canada as a good memory! 🤍

They used to have ground spotters who would yell out for those who had to have a connecting flight and place them in the queue earlier. Sorry about your experience! Years ago I had a direct flight to Bermuda. The important thing is that you’re safe and did not get caught up in a hurricane season so maybe it was meant to be. Maybe on your next visit you can have a meet up with those who follow you from this side of the pond!🌎🇨🇦

Pearson airport is a nightmare. I am a Canadian and domestic flights are equally as horrific. So very sorry that you had to experience that.

Omg! You went to Aritzia! I’m from Vancouver and I watch your videos all the time. I always thought that you would love aritzia. It’s literally the only place I shop at. It’s such a vibe! Haha they have the coziest sweaters. I’m addicted. ❤️😊

I’m happy you had an amazing experience in Canada and to be honest I was not interested at all to visit Toronto but your trip makes me want to visit the country. ❤ and I’m sorry you had that bad experience in the airport, what I like to do before I travel I check the airport in google if I’ve never been there because people comment them experiences and they advised you how long for security etc. or checking the website. Hope you girls can celebrate the engagement party soon 💕

Freddy - you may feel a little "alone" eating at a restaurant, for instance, but you are never truly alone, because you have US, your followers with you at all times!

We lost 2 days of our honeymoon in a luxury resort in Cancun due to US Airway’s flight chaos. The first flight was totally cancelled and we very luckily were booked into a beautiful local hotel by my sister. We got an upgraded room because they we were on our honeymoon which was amazing. So it all seemed to be going well but chaos struck again. We were kept on a run way in Miami for over 2 hours and the flight we were on had already been delayed reaching Miami. We literally had to sit in the plane and watch the clock tick away until we only had minutes to spare for to catch our connecting flight. We ran as fast as we could but the gate was too far and we missed our connecting flight, yet another full day of our booked honeymoon gone. I had a bit of a meltdown due to lack of sleep in Miami. We were put up in a hotel because it was the airlines responsibility to look after us after they’d stopped us from leaving the plane. I’m not sure they would have done this had I not just started crying and telling them we are losing a second day of our once in a lifetime honeymoon. They did feel bad when I told them how much flight chaos we’d experienced but there was little they could do. I totally understand the utter panic, anger and anxiety re- all of above! It’s a nightmare……..when we finally got to our destination it was worth it. We just wished we still had the days we missed there because we enjoyed it so much.

I’ve only flew to Milan this year but the lack of airport staff was also an issue there! It was my first flying experience since 2019 and it really put me off travelling by plane again. We were delayed by 2 hours leaving due to lack of airport staff and on the way home we were stuck on the run way for 2 hours due to lack of staff! As you said it really does take it out of you 😢 we only stayed in Milan for 4 days so we basically lost the first day due to the delay 😅 hopefully things improves and you can enjoy it next year!

I’m from Toronto and I’m glad you enjoyed the city and Niagara! I also worked at Pearson for about 5 years, it’s a nightmare sometimes and has just gotten worse since Covid. USA flights are weird here, you go through customs first since technically once you get through you’re then on American soil although you’re still in Canada. Sadly T3 is also generally smoother and quicker than T1. Because T3 is also smaller: on the US side they usually close gates 10 mins before scheduled departure (assuming it’s still the same as when I worked there pre-covid), just makes your window a little tighter. Airport employees here are generally nice though; if you have a flight departing soon tell an agent and they’ll usually pull you to the front to get you through.

It's such a shame that your trip was cut short considering the joyous reason of an engagement, but I enjoyed the vlog nontheless and I'm glad that you decided to publish it anyway 😊 Now I know why we are always told to be at the airport 4 hours prior to our flight. Lesson learned for the next time ❤
