I think the general consensus is that these are just reused/unused Charles voice clips, likely from his younger years given the sound. Doesn't really sound like Afghani's Mario voice.

This was one of the Mario games that I wanted to play so bad back in the day but never got to and after hearing the music, I’m kicking my ass for missing out lol. Now seeing and hearing this? Nintendo didn’t have to THIS hard on the music. Easily top 5 Mario OST and love it so much that I want to play this first before I play Super Mario Wonder

The fact they remastered this from the GBA which at that time was still an amazing game, reusing Charles Martinet's voice and upgrading it a bit, combined with amazing graphics and tight controls to boot, makes this well worth buying in my opinion.

I do wish Nintendo would bring back Mario vs donkey Kong mini Mario mayhem (if you don’t know what I’m talking about it’s where Mario and pauline were having a celebration on the new Pauline toys and donkey wanted one but the sold out so donkey kidnapped Pauline and the whole point of the game it’s to save her but you also go with puzzles just like in the dashie is playing but instead of Mario it’s the mini Mario) I feel like Nintendo wanted to bring that back though this game but probably struggled to considering you need a stylus to play that game and wasn’t button controlled 😭😭😭😭
been watching dashie since like 2014 when I was in high school, and I love how Dashie always comments on the studio and their beats.. no matter the video game 🤣 and the amount of times he asks if Kenny G in there 😂😂
