One RU-vidr in Melbourne once recounted how she was thoroughly searched while other shoppers were free to go, and she really created a scene.

That must have been tough especially watching other people go free. E reach to create a scene.

Sorry about that, sis . The lady was right. That is Aldi policy . Even here, they normally search shopper's bags 🎒 white or black 😊. You did the right thing, sis, and I totally understand how you feel .

She was right sis- they do look at your bags in Aldi. I am in WA - they have done this- many times. First time though i was kinda shocked 😅But have checked people in front of me after that and they ask to check. If its big they will actually search. If small they can peep and tell you to go. It is not discrimination😊 If its shopping bags from other shops- they will ask to see as well and the receipt if you have it ❤

Ahh Ive never seen or experienced that before. It was indeed shocking to me.

@@VerabellaOparah i understand where you are coming from hey- those are the little things that get to us in this foreign country however, i have told myself to always try and be positive. If you look for discrimination and racism - it will be in your face- always. Always also remember we have kids we are bringing up here- wont it be better to let them know and help them look for the positive around them and us always? This can be achieved by what they learn from the examples they see from us as they watch us and hear what we say. Not to say they should be stumped on no- but to keep a positive mind and outlook in general 😉☺️🎀

Like I said I have never experienced any major form of racism here. I say major because there might be some I don’t even notice especially as most people are friendly and welcoming. However this incident was quite dramatic with other people watching/ staring at us. Anyways now that I’m aware this has happened to other people, it wouldn’t be as uncomfortable next time ❤️

I've never been asked to be searched though but they should have the "right to search policy" pasted boldly on their door. If it's not visible, biko ask to speak with the manager and express your displeasure. They can't expect you to know their policy if its not made known upon arrival, abi they expect everyone to look up their store search policy on their website before coming?🌝
@VerabellaOparah
@VerabellaOparah Месяц назад
Exactly. Never heard of that policy until I did my own research.

So Sorry that happened to you sis but it’s a normal thing around here. I have witnessed instances where they even tell school kids to drop their bags before entering. They have asked me a couple of times and I have seen them ask white peeps same so I stopped thinking much of it, now I just open the bag before they ask or preferably don’t go in with anything.

It’s comforting to know it wasn’t just me. I have never seen them do that here even though I do quite A LOT of grocery runs. It’s well ❤

@@VerabellaOparah I think it just depends on the staff who is on duty, but if you look at the till screen before they start scanning, what shows there is "have you checked the customers bags"

Hello there, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I will say this. My husband is Caucasian and has been asked to show his satchel at Aldi or any shop for a check. ( reddot, woolworth, etc) I am a woman of colour myself living in WA, and when I go to Aldi with a shopping bag or a handbag, large enough, they ask to see the inside of it.. When I lived in the US, costco and walmart shops always check your shopping bags and cart as you exit the store... every single customer. I understand this might be shocking if it is the first time you experience it. Please don't let it ruin your experience and your day. It is not racism. It is simply the store protecting themselves against any form of shoplifting which happens more often than we can imagine. I hope this helps.

Insist to speak to Manager not supervisor and hold her accountable by asking for POLICY! Then point out you have never been check before. Please spend the time for wasting your time..
