Kid: “why is there a dude in the woods acting like a chicken and throwing around giant eggs?” Parent: “oh, that’s just Bobby at it again, he’s making a video.”
Same. I kept going "This would look way better if you had pressure potted it and killed the air bubbles" but they added so much awesome texture to it that it looked like an under water world inside the egg.
It seems like every video you make now is overflowing with hilarious and beautiful creativity, kind of like that egg with resin hahah you are a genius and i love how the sponsored parts were in really random locations haha
Bobby Duke Arts It’s channels like this on RU-vid that I wish there were more of... your unique style has always made me laugh and your artwork is incredible. Love the videos, all the best! Charlie
Next time, when you're pouring your resin, if you're pouring it into a large space like an ostrich egg instead of a small mold that's only two or three inches deep, do it in installments. If you do it all at once into a large area it gets too hot and will start steaming and bubbling over and cracking the egg like it did. Next time do three or four pours and let each layer set completely. It takes more time but it will prevent the cracking and the resin won't start seeping through the egg like it did. Also, if you put it in a vacuum chamber, it will remove the bubbles from the resin. I like the bubbled look in this particular piece, it reminds me of an alien egg about to hatch, but just for future reference, if you want it to look more like glass, put it in a pressure pot.
Some other things he could've done: 1) Mix more calmly. Rough mixing whips in air into the resin. 2) Use (low shrinkage) polyester instead of epoxy. It's cheaper, better suited for large casts, and can be less exothermic than epoxy. Vinylester could be okay as well. Anyway, the project turned out beautifully. The bubbles synergized perfectly with his design.
Some points about your advice: 1) He doesn't have to wait for each course to set completely. Doing so will highlight pour lines. Pouring at the soft gel state should be okay. 2) Vacuum chambers cause multipart resins to boil over, especially if you add stuff to it or have as many bubbles as his mix did. You lower the ambient vapor pressure, resin mixture starts to boil because of the lower boiling point. Subjecting the project to a pressure chamber alone will clarify the resin (if it doesn't crack the egg first).
While correct all the bubbles would sit at the top of each pour instead of uniformly distributed. Even vacuuming it is probably hard to get rid of them all, and in this case they are probably wanted. I am thinking keep it rotating while curing with several pours. Then the top surface of the intermediate pours will not be visible from an edge.
The other thing that might work to get rid of bubbles without a vacuum chamber (at least it works with silicone) would be to pour a very thin stream from high up in order to let the trapped gases escape on the way down.
Bob Ross: I don't have a crazy brother Bobby: You do now Edit: Hi, it's me from 11 months after I commented this. This isn't an original idea but I did format it differently, so I didn't steal it :) tis just inspired
Ostrich: god can you give me bigger egg God: so you can have better protection and have better chance at survival? Ostrich:yesssssss Ostrich:*actually becomes a lamp epicly*
5:54 I see you are a man of culture as well Wow first time one of my comments got so much recognition thx and a special thx for boby love your videos keep doing what your doing (I can't believe I actually got pinned)
You should get a vacuum chamber to get rid of the air bubbles Like so he can see this Or I will like this myself lol Edit: I didn’t think that I would get this much likes I’m glad I liked it myself at the first place lol
yes, thats a good idea in general but i think the air bubbles in this kind of project look even better than without em, its glowing because of the light and those little bubbles inside the carvings look amazing because of the bubbles
I'm thinking, make another one, using neon green coloured resin, cut to look like the egg from the Alien poster....now that would be REALLY cool. Great work as always Bobby, you sir are an artisan! Happy 2019!
This video is amazing, but I would like to address something else amazing: Dukey made it into a Pewds video. I would like to say congratulations to Dukey and to us Lil Dukeys. We’ve done our part. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Absolutely beautiful! I used to carve 3 D pumpkins in the 90's. Wish I was younger without lung problems. We have an Ostrich & Emu egg we got from a friend in GA that was a farmer. I don't have steady enough hands now. You are so impressive
Hey, Bobby I don’t know if you still read the comments on these older videos, but I just wanna say that I love your videos and I’m inspired constantly. Even as I watch you become a chicken-man, there is so much love and happiness in these videos. It’s been a dark couple of weeks and seeing the happiness and inspiration in which you make these videos and these pieces of art is pretty great. Much love❤️❤️
Okay, I gotta say the first 2 minutes had me laughing and wondering “What on earth??” Good thing it’s Friday and there’s only me and be other person in the office, so I can laugh XD
I could just imagine what the neighbors could be thinking.. Husband: uhh hey honey the weird neighbor is at it again.. Wife: ugh really?? Do we have to call the police again? What is he doing? Husband: OH MY LORD HE JUST POOPIED AN EGG.
@@maxz8807 In the U.S. Kroger is a nationwide grocery store chain. No matter which of the 50 states you live, there is a Kroger somewhere near you. This statement was meant as a joke, (mainly to Americans), because here Ostrich eggs would be difficult to come by. Not impossible, but expensive. It is in no way meant as anything derogatory. This egg he carved is beautiful.
I.....AM.... IN CRAZY LOVE....with this Man!!!!!!!!!! Not only is he cute....I love his attitude about all he does....I'm "infant" new at this wire art.....but I am so excited to have found this fantastic and interesting Man.....Thank You sooo much for being here...your new Follower.....Jo Peters
Hannah Huynh so what's ur part in that prophecy? oh wait, zip, nada, ziltch so don't be jealous n stop hating plz. ur biggest fan from Saudi Arabia dont listen to haters.
I believe that the church would regard the prelude to the act of egglaying (i.e., getting it on with an ostrich) to be a sin, but what the heck do they know anyway? They wanted to burn Galileo at the stake
Steven Newton I believe I said that the man had found the egg not got it on with a ostrich so Coild you re look your statement but I see your point with the church
I remember picking up one of those hairy caterpillars. My dad brought it home for me and we put it in a container for it to live until it morphed. Turns out it was white.
From the way ostrich eggs 🥚 are large enough for big enough for the art project I’d say you come up with new inspiration for it. Or should I say you hatched a wonderful eggs-pear-ra-ment. 😁
