You won't believe who I caught snooping in my garden! Also, we finish the lawn and I'll show you my huge onion harvest. We'll end the video with a gift that Emilie got me to celebrate 1,000,000 subscribers on Next Level Gardening.

Hi I'm Brian with Little Homestead - Big Dreams. If this is your first time here... welcome! I'm glad you're here! If you're a longtime friend, welcome back!!
For most of my life I was a city boy, gardening in the suburbs. I was the first generation in my family to not grow up on a farm and somehow it was still there inside me. So now my wife Emilie, son Noah and I have moved to a small farm (at least it will be) and we're documenting our journey on this channel. Building gardens and chicken coops, buying a dairy cow and who knows what else lies in store. But we can't wait to take you with us!

I had to hit 'pause' and sit back and shed a tear when you said 'not too shabby'. My Dad used to say that. There are so many old-school sayings I'd love to see come back in style. Like 'make yourself useful'. :) Another of my father's favourites. Thank you for that flashback. And, beautiful onions! I remember when you discovered why your onion harvest had been less than you hoped In the past (with sad and heart-wrenching photo to match). It's so great to learn along with you. Like I used to with my Dad.

Wow, where do I start? Loved the comic relief of brothers fighting and adopted mama, Daisy, chasing after them "you boys cut that out!" But I was blown away by all the clips of what you've accomplished over the years. Even though I watched them all the first time, seeing everything fast-forwarded together was amazing. You, Emilie and Noah should be so proud of what you've accomplished. Keep on growing! Getting to be in your video was icing on the cake for me.

This has to be one of my favorite videos. The animals playing with each other down in the pasture was so heartwarming. Emilie did an amazing job on the video. It was so emotional to look back on your early videos. It started tears pouring from the sight of your first video. This is been like watching my own son grow and create such a masterpiece of a channel and of a property. When you struggle with self-esteem, I hope you’ll remember all these millions of people who love you and follow your advice. You’ve taught so many of us so much. As always, I send love and hugs to you, Emilie and Noah ❤️🤗❤️

I exclaimed all kinds of goofiness when I heard the music for California Gardening T.V., which is where a bunch of us first found you, and discovered what a friendly and supportive and knowledgeable place this is to hang out. I believe you have only improved through the years and am so thankful for all the knowledge and life experience you share with us. I'm not much for submitting videos, so, as much as I wanted to submit something for Emilie's request.........it's just not in me. But I just wanted to say Thank You. You helped a lot of first time gardeners through the pandemic, and also continue to keep informing a lot of us seasoned gardeners. We learn about gardening from you and your community and also about mental and physical health, and all kinds of things. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. A million times...... thank you. And much love to you and the growing gang at Little Homestead Big Dreams

I wish there was a "love it" button here. Emelie, I guess you chose the song for the video for Brian? Such a great pick! A great video too! And Brian, I didn't send a video of my own for several reasons but mostly because it would've been very difficult to say out loud that gardening is my way of keeping my late grandma alive and I was terrible at it. You've helped me become a pretty decent gardener. I like to think every now and then that if she could see me (and the garden) now, she'd be proud. I noticed just people from the USA were in the video. So here's one grateful Eastern European ❤

Brain, Emily and Noah To begin with, “Congratulations on making the 1,000,000 subscriber point!!!” I know it is a family effort and while you are individually very talented, your combined work is nothing less than amazing. I became a subscriber back in 2020 just after my retirement and what a ride it’s been! Somehow “thank you” does not begin to satisfy the debt I owe your team. Just know you’ve made a tremendous difference in not just gardening, but dealing with life as it comes racing towards us. You have reinforced the saying, “It’s not happens to you in this life, it’s what you do with it.” Keep up the great work my friend and let’s get growing! 😊

I am so emotional after watching this video. I, too, am so appreciative of what you do in the garden and the homestead. You deserve the fruits ( and vegetables) of your labor (excuse the pun). I needed you when I found you, Bryan. I can't describe my gratitude. I still have issues that I need to work through each day but instead of engaging in self sabotaging activities or dwelling on my fears and anxieties, I reach for a bag of potting mix and a sachet of seeds. I used to kill all plants, even plastic ones. Now, my family enjoys organic vegetables and fruit from our garden because of you. The satisfaction of growing food is incredible. I save money, too, and in this time of increasing costs of living, I can see the difference in my grocery bill. Congratulations on 1 million subscribers. Here's to the next million. Love to you, Emily, Noah, Bella, Daisy, and the boys.

Since your hay slide will have ridged metal floor, consider a “sled” with runners that will run in the ridges. Put a back rail on it. That might make it easier to winch up several bales at a time without the drag rope tearing them up.

Brian, the sheep playing and then Daisy joining was hilarious! Your hay slide sounds like a good plan. Might I suggest using synthetic line rather than cable on the winch? It is much safer if anything goes wrong. I was thinking you could use regular hay hooks to latch onto the bales, but there again, you wouldn't want them to come flying back at you if they pull loose. Maybe just a big loop to go around the bale.

Hay box --> great idea! Your coop inspired us to 'do something'. We aren't 'carpentry handy' so we bought a pine, pre-built, double garbage can shed with a front double door and a lift-top. 4'H (abt 5' high on blocks) x 6'L x 34"D (the kind that's supposed to keep bears out of your trash - and cheaper than anything advertised as a kindling shed) It had 3 skids on the bottom that we centered on blocks. We used screws to permanently close the lift-top, replaced the door latch with a sturdier one, applied roofing underlay, then shingles and a drip edge. It's now a great kindling shed! Thank you for inspiring us to 'do something'!

I am not that good with videos and technology. I did want to tell you thank you for all of the great gardening advice and letting us into your life. I watch both of your different you tube channels avidly. I feel like I’m catching up with old friends. Thanks to you, I am the only person I know in my small town that has a garden with drip irrigation. I decided that I wanted to try it. My husband kept putting me off and I got mad and did it myself just by watching your videos. I now grow tomatoes that my papaw would have been jealous of if he was still alive. You have inspired me to try gardening as a hobby and not to get frustrated. I will tell you however that I wish you had showed how to hide the drip line in flower pots a lot earlier when you showed how to do drip irrigation to begin with. But, that’s the beauty of it. There is always something new to learn. Always something new to teach.

Bitten by the Brian bug!!! I love it! That compilation video was the best. What a gift from Emily. I didn't realize how long we had been watching but we remember all those videos! Really great work. Don't stop. Love from Alabama.

Wow! Wow!!! Emily did an absolutely fantastic job on the time line/fan video! I totally agree with all the subscribers that sent in videos. I wasn’t able to do a video, but you have definitely inspired me in my gardening methods. I bought your book and refer to it every year when starting to plant. After seeing the beginning of your channel, I realized I have followed you almost from the beginning or at least back when you built the first chicken cottage at your previous house. Time sure has flown by and Noah has grown up so fast…where did all that time go?!? Great job Brian, Emily and yes Noah too. It took the entire family to keep you going. Emily picked the perfect song…you were indeed “made for this”! Thank you and Congratulations n one million subscribers!!!🥳👏🏻👏🏻

Beautiful episode, Brian. Emily, your video gift is so full of love. Thank you all for sharing so much of your lives. After succeeding at a pea patch in Redmond WA with your guidance, I look forward to installing a new garden at my home near the ocean in WA while sharing part with the plethora of deer that live here too. Looking forward to everything you share. Hugs to you all.

I live in the AZ low desert, it's hitting 115 and no I have no tomatoes! I am just hoping I can just keep my tomatoes alive until Sept when temps should be a little cooler!

This morning I found a Tomato Horn Worm that was 4 inches long. I forgot to take a picture of it. Dropped it in the middle of the driveway, wasn't there later so I'm hoping some bird had a good breakfast. My tomatoes have been showing a lot of horn worm damage. I finally got the Basil planted between them and wow there is healthy new growth above the former stripped leaves. Basil Works.

Congratulations on achieving 1 million subscribers. I love your videos and find them very informative. We are now about to sell our home in Salt Lake City, Utah. We are moving towards the ocean states, but we are not sure where. Then, I get to build a big vegetable garden, fruit trees, and flowers. Because of your videos and knowledge, all the trials and hiccups you have gone through will be my base to grow from. 🎉❤ Thank you for being an amazing down to earth person ♥️♥️♥️
