That cactus its actually really sort after and I think protected in the wild.

I wouldn't be surprised. On a recent trip that I didn't film I actually found 2 of them! Of course, I didn't take any of them, just admired in the wild :)

@@ArthropodAntics Yea. I have a few small ones in my green house. Of course seed grown here in Aus. They take many years to get to that size.

Pretty sure those little fluffy tufts on that Echinocereus were either the beginnings of a flower, or a beginning of a new branch of the cactus

Awesome video man! You should have kept the undescribed phedole queen though haha.

I almost wish I had after learning that she was undescribed, but honestly having P. rhea has ruined all other largeish Pheidole for me. The teeny tiny guys still have their charm, though :)

Bro I understand that you catch 2 or 3 ants, but why do you want tons of queens? Also you shouldn't take them out of their nest with eggs.

Ants AZ already has one, and I don't really have the facilities to keep one. Would need to buy a whole setup. If it was a Lethocerus I might have considered it, but Abedus are quite a bit less impressive than them.

They aren't really ruining the colony. As long as they return everything as close as to the way it was with the rock back on top and making sure the queen is inside the colony where she won't get crushed the easily just either block up the entrance reseal the gaps around the rocks or create a new entrance in a matter of hours or days. It doesn't ruin them.

@@ColdBloodedCreaturae are you ant keeper or bee keeper?
@ColdBloodedCreaturae
@ColdBloodedCreaturae 2 года назад
@@RodrigoRodrigues-hk8sd I do antkeeping. Looking into getting more solitary bees for my garden. I also keep reptiles and used to live in AZ and have gone anting in places he's gone to.

The rock will not be placed in its exact position, so it is possible to crush it with that irregularly shaped rock.@@ColdBloodedCreaturae

In the grand scheme, a few workers in a giant colony is barely anything and would likely be replaced within hours. And most don't get crushed either way.@@alan_sec
