Its entertaining for hikaru because for him, its like wathing a horror movie.. he knows the person can't enter in a room because it has a monster in there, but the person enters anyway and all you can do is scream in fear, and sometimes celebrate because the monster also didn't punished its victim haha
@@ColHogan-bu2xq I can't appreciate a nice check mate if I don't understand it was a nice one. So a generous heart is not enough I think, you gotta be a good player
Yeah I remember , "This opening is trash LEVAY plays this but I won't recommend this Edit: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bAfqgKZRfMs.html here you go
It’s like the opposite of Hikaru. Levy is a cool guy who sometimes acts like an asshole. Hikaru is an asshole who acts like a nice guy sometimes. (Look up Hikaru and ChessExplained or just hear anyone in the chess community talk about him before he became a streamer)
@@basesixty6739 he’s pretty antagonistic with his twitch chat and will call out a bunch of RU-vid comments on his Twitter, but you can tell it’s all in good fun. It’s part of the entertainment, you know
Absolutely, we can watch gods of chess, math, any science discipline, any sport, any game, etc. explain their craft to us. Unfortunately many do not choose to spend their time on the internet in this way, but to each their own I guess. I spend a lot of time on RU-vid, but I'm grateful to have been exposed to wilderness survival, beautiful travel destinations, chess Grand Masters, people so good at video games it makes my head hurt, complex science theories explained so my basic brain can understand them, etc. etc. It is a wonderful way to "waste" your time haha
His blunder: "Oh no! I pushed the wrong pawn after a long and well fought game!" My blunder: "Crap, I forgot my queen was hanging... And I hadn't even moved it yet..." Lol, awesome vid though
The story of :"She kept stomping my face with her foot, yet i managed to get a good bite on the ankle! Yey me! xD" love the positive attitude despite the loss mate! Keep going!
There's a beauty in her a game. Even when she was losing she stayed focused, sharp, was always maneuvering for attacking chances. Reminded me of how Magnus plays and wins from losing or drawn positions.
@@super6070 When was the last 18-game match that you saw with only one draw? This should have been knock-out, but Levy refused to lay low. The towel should have been throw well before that 18 round man, that kind of think can leave lasting injuries.
Dude you have a PERFECT personality for what you do on RU-vid man. I gotta say, I believe your humility will come before the honor of you becoming a GM. You are humble dude and that’s why we love watching you. Also you are extremely gifted and you’re good enough to do this. You’re right in your own assessment about time spent playing competitive games. So understand you’re good enough and with the work you can win more than lose but, either way you’re a champion already in our books. Look at your career. You have the best players in the world wanting to be your friend. Think about that for a second. You made it man. And..... in a world where the internet makes things like chess more “pop culture esk” you’re one of the most famous chess players in the world lol. So get into a rap video with Hikaru or something.
I love his spirit here given that objectively he had his ass handed to him. Really cool video. I may never be good enough to play any of these players but anyone who’s played chess can relate to the regrets and thoughts of “if only I had...”
Why are you laughing at him? All a 519 ELO rating means is that he just started playing on Chess.com. At least he's watching GothamChess and knows what an ELO is...
@@beri4138 well historically they really don't so in that regard it is a bit surprising and comical, but I think with the advent of playing online Chess.com needed a way for true beginners to measure their skill and progression. I'm honestly surprised they don't just start you at an ELO of 1 but for some reason I think the lowest you can start is 400, but I could be wrong.
As a Gotham fan, this was like watching your dad get in a fight and take the worst of it. Got a few good licks in, but some things you just can't unsee.
Levi you won't believe that i was thinking about your last match in the night around 1 AM for your "oh no my knight" position and this is a very unique and rare position where it is geomatrically impossible for the knight to neither capture the passed pawn nor creating any blocked . Well done in thinking about such move against her and in such tens situation
I watched your video on puzzles and the king's indian and went from 1050 rapid and 900 puzzles to 1250 rapid and 1600 puzzles in like a week. You may think you're a flawed player, but you've at least got the knack for teaching in an entertaining fashion.
We're all rooting for ya man, hope to see you become a gm one day and if not I know you'll accomplish great things regardless. Thanks for all your help these last few months, not only are you an inspiration but someone I look up to💪 Good luck out there man!!
@@dylangoddard7449 if he wasnt a full time streamer/YTber he would have to work a normal job though? Atleast now his job is chess, that should be the best way to become a GM other than only studying which you need a sponsor/be rich.
@@dylangoddard7449 coaching chess vs getting to play chess on stream / make videos about it. Seems to both be good jobs for getting better. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to grow his stream/YT and I dont think it is stopping him from becoming a GM at all.
Can't wait for your match against Rosen. I hope this pounding you took from Kostenuk helped sharpen you up. Rooting for you buddy. By the way, I'm sad you didn't analyze your A3 sicilian game xD. I kind of feel bad though bringing it up now lol.
Levy I tried chess and it's one of the most beautiful games in existence but I have far too much anxiety to actually play and your attitude alone is enough for me to keep tuning into these videos and your streams. Don't ever stop doing what you're doing and being who you are, you're teaching a lot more than just chess and I wanted to personally thank you. I hope this reaches you well. You're a good shit (and I say that with all my heart)
I'm so glad you reached out to NL and I was able to find your channel from the chess collab because I've been immensely enjoying your videos while rediscovering the game of chess and learning a lot in the process. You're the man.
ChessQueen is a formidable player. I was following her for a while, but can't speak Russian and thus much of her content is beyond me. A rematch would be enjoyed by all.
i like the fact that im not the only nerd that likes theory and terminology , respect for you Levi R. you made me played against a top 3.000 player of bullet , bcause im dutch and he was somehow a teacher on my school , now he teaches me chess and i have become about a 1600 rating player , thank you so much , all youre effort is extra gained energy from me , i am now 16 years old and i have played chess when i was 8 years old , on a windows viesta computer , but i never trained or learned something. On December 16th i started learning theory and now i have learned great openings and pins , i hope to play against you one day , if there was not something called a FOUND on twitch, see you soon levi. Anthonny A.
That was a beautiful match, and very interesting analysis. :) Props to Alexandra, she was impressive; and props to you too for hanging in there and getting some nice wins. And a draw!
I noticed that too lmao. To be fair, at 21:00 he did bring himself to say that she is the better player, but he kinda qualifies that statement in an ambiguous way directly afterwards, as it not semantically clear whether "better nerves, more experience" are what make someone the "better player" in his pov or if these 3 factors are listed next to each other equally, which would have been more clear if he explicitly mentioned "skill". Because skill/being better doesn't just come from experience/time invested and nerves, but also how intensely you study and train in a structured way while getting experienced.
@@YajoXYeah, it sounded a lot more like "She's a better player than me, no doubt (she's got better nerves + more experience END LIST), than "She's a better player than me, no doubt + she's got better nerves + more experience". Creativity, brainpower and raw instinct can all be used to generate passable self deprecation, but I guess not everyone has equal access to them.
A great match and a wonderful, respectful and honest video - it's so important to be a good sport and give props to your opponents. It must have been an honor to play a world champion, and still receive such a respectable result. Well done Levy!
I have only just started playing bullet regularly and have just finished 90th in Chess.com's Saturday Bullet marathon (around 6000 players for those who don't know). Somehow I dropped 80 points off my bullet rating doing it. I lost count of how many matches I lost by hundredths of a second. Chrome was being uncooperative and dropped me out of 3 matches I was in the middle of and the display was doing some really wierd stuff like showing a knight in 2 places it shouldn't have. Thanks for this content, it was interesting.
Literally, I got tears on my eyes at the last minute of video, dont know kinda why, maybe Im too emotional right now, but the fact that hes just speaking looking directly at the camera like looking on my eyes, speaking how everyone has flaws at all, I dont know, I found this video amazing.
Two things: First agadmator's videos pause are better we spot yours before you even show the position, second I love how she is there to have fun l, to enjoy chess, to see what a new young talent can do but Gottam is here to win baby!
I can’t even fully express it in words, but it is honestly SO NICE to see a man willingly admit losing to a woman and her being better than him without being disingenuous or prideful about it. Props to him.
