Hi everyone! It's Javi (Javipaintsminis)! Thanks a lot for your words, I'm happy you liked my paintjob and conversion! It has been a pleasure to take part of the video :) The truth is that I don't think I understood the task very well, hahaha, I thought I simply had to make a version of Lukas' piece but not copy it 100%, otherwise I would have removed the hair and the eagle from the chestplate! Keep your brushes sharp!
It's really a bit abstract. For example, I did not add more pigments or that osl because once done it seems to me to dirty the paint with so many pigments and that osl looks like rust and very forced. I just did what I thought was right. Congratulations to all the painters, we have very good artists and especially in Spain😊
Many thanks to those who liked my work (WALDO PAINTS) and especially to Emil and Lukas. I was delighted that some of you noticed the detail of the Thundercats sword.
Agreed Javi's is just stunning his highlighting is amazing. I'm willing to bet good money that waldo_paints just realized that they can charge more for their work LOL.
The quality of Fiverr artists has gone up so much over the years and I actually think your channel profiling them has helped bring in more talent to the platform. Very cool.
It's not too hard to get to a level you can be at least proud of. I used to paint minis when I was much younger, and while my skill never EVER came close to approaching this level of skill, what I did put out I was at least happy with. So, with a bit of practice, you can at least churn out an army you'd be happy to field that folks would still be impressed by =) There's some pretty easy tricks for painting nice minis as long as you're not hoping to win national championships. I got good enough to win local shows XD
@@TheGravyMonsterthanks man, things are okay I guess. You never know who you'll see in various places 😅 You'll find me all over 40K stuff though. Been a Warhammer nerd since 1990 🤣 (oh god I'm old)
Pretty much the truth for most artists and people who produce hand crafted stuff. Most stick to doing it as a hobby vs. an actual career / profession because it can be damn hard convincing the general public to cough up the dough for original works when they're used to mass produced prices.
I gotta say Lukas did such an amazing job painting this miniature here. The painting level in insane, id love to be able to produce anything even close to that. It also reminds me a little bit of the grimdark painting style, which is a absolute favourite!
Anyone charging 50 dollars for a paint job that actually looks good is vastly underpaid. Like, they bought the paints and brushes, usually getting more expensive tools like an airbrush as well. After material costs, these guys make like 7 dollars an hour, assuming they work on the model for about 4 hours, which is insanely low wage for a highly specialized job.
Even worse, they had to convert it; I know I am on the slower side, but there's no way I would've been done the painting with after 4 hours. At best I'd have the mini assembled, the sculpting/cleaning/sanding done and maybe primed/base coated. I'm weirded out by how cheap all of them seemed for an unclear set of instructions which included more than just painting.
While every single mini looked absolutely stunning, I have to commend Jonas for painting the most unique one, it looks like it climbed out of a comic book. Good job everyone, keep up the good work
In my opinion, the first painting was superior to yours, the rest is fair fair, but his paint and ink was superior. [EDIT] Before seeing the end, I had t pause... last one was easily the 2nd best or the best! [EDIT] After seeing the end.. Good. Javi and Waldo were the 2 best.
I feel like a lot of them struggled with good posing. They come off as kinda awkward and/or off balance. Waldo is the only pose that really works for me
Every painter had something great about their work. I have to say that posing the miniature was lacking in all the miniatures in my opinion, posing is something I pay attention a lot, Javipaintminis, Musha and waldo have the most acceptable poses. Waldo face paint job is great
I feel like the fine dust effect was probably one of the most important things making that piece look so realistic and no one managed to get eve close. No sand on the fists, no sand on the swords. You scored them way too high.
honestly they look good, but only loano's was very good. the rest kinda look like what we did back in the day with a random 3€ brush and normal colours just added over each other; with no special skills etc. and in mass (like 20 models at a time, was warhammer fantasy back then) so as professionals taking 100+ € per model painted it doesn't seem very impressive. i mean 1-2 models should be an entire day off work. remember we did like 20+ models paint in a day or two (since some required wait time), and again while maybe a bit less precision work, the looks where on par with the rest. loano's was really good, that was 2 steps up from what we did. 2:22 that guy seems on another lvl. look at that treant in the middle bottom. look how much colour nuance is in there and how extremely beautiful every detail is, only the skulls on the shoulder and between legs could have been improved, and the leave between legs; the rest is basically perfect. insanely high skilled work. i would use him over the rest if that's the general lvl
Omg Squidmar got and idea, what if you and Lucas made and army of 1000 point army each . BUT every mini in the army is painted by a fan of yours. Rules should be like Rule 1. Name the mini under the base. Rule 2. Lucas and you decide the color theme for each of your army with a primary color and a secondary color. 3.You paint your HQ choice for your own army 4. maybe artist name also? While you wait for the the paints jobs. You fellas makes an awesome board to play on. Before the game you evaluate the paint job maybe pick a top 3 or 1 for each army. Send the winder a T-shirt or something in a video :) AND THEN BATTLE! Fight until one Army's are death Remember to make kill track on each mini an apricate the name! RP for the pleps After the battle of course one of you should be punished. Up to you how.. Just see it done xD
You know, if you plan on making that a series or anything id really like there a breif shoutout/walkthrough of their protfolio. A lot of them use that as a buisness adn many clients look to yall for paint inpiration. itd bee cool and great for the community to add in the best painter that way instead of nothin you know?
do any of these guys do like a bob ross style step by step ? like we all print what ur painting and then u show how to do this and that effect if that makes sense
Love this stuff. But Emil, please consider to weigh the points differently. For example I think you put too much emphasis on the pigments - 5 points just for that, as opposed to the little time needed for it, that is not exactly a good rating. Also, expecting artistic freedom whne you ask someone to copy something is not really that relevant and yet you give it 10 points max. In all honesty, if I would order a copy, I'd expect as little artistic freedom as possible, otherwise I would order an abstraction!
I do love painting mini's but I kind of hate doing paint jobs. That being said, I have been painting for 24 years so maybe I should open a Fiverr and do paint jobs. Mostly for D&D mini's, but I guess I could do some Warhammer ones too since I have done some before.
So the lesson here is to communicate exactly what you want, specify each thing and they will likely do it. Without seeing what was told to the artist, I feel like this is kind of like unclear. All the paint jobs looked great though.
Not to detract from an awesome paint job, miles out of my league, but the stark white and red on the tabard on the model by Waldo looked really out of place to me; almost unfinished (or perhaps just too clean), and probably clashed the most of any of the miniatures with the reference.
I am sorry but Javi's character was just better than the original he was hands down the best one of them all. Id say he is 10/10 the original loses points as not as good.
I expected to have scams. I was disappointed. They seem all very good to me. Even the one with the lowest mark, I realize it does not match the request but that's still good stuff. IMO the base is much less important than other things, like the chain on the sword … There should be a /10 "details"
A lot of these running spacemarines look like they're about to fall and eat shit. 5 points for pigments is way to high for something that might not even be visible in the photos.
