I could have watched Heidi's stepdad talk about his forest garden for an eternity, he's so passionate about it and it's so inspiring!

If you ever decide you want to start a community like this I will join. Seriously I think there are lots of us who want this, want to contribute and have this simple type of love. I think it's more possible than we all think, we just have to start unlearning the systems we have been brought up to rely on and jump into something new. We need to believe in ourselves and community. Anyone else also want this so deeply? Thanks for this video

When John said that the reason for him doing all this work was fear I teared up a little, because I share this fear, not only in regard to our food systems but to an uncertain future in general. Seeing him turning that fear into motivation to create such a lovely place is really inspiring! Thank you for sharing this! :)

Watching this after receiving a rejection letter from my dream uni (Oxford). This video has made me realise that life is just as much about enjoying life and the lighter moments, and that I shouldn't pin so much self-worth/happiness on getting into an institution. Thank you, Leah, for helping to make me feel a little less heartbroken, and a little more hopeful about what the future has in store for me♥

Shout out to John for not evicting the wasps from the farm! It's quite refreshing to see that his love for nature extends to creatures that humans usually find off-putting. They'll likely be repaying his kindness by keeping some of the crop eating insects controlled :3

This series has been one of my favourite things to watch, ever. I spent two months this summer working at a guesthouse in rural Croatia, doing a lot of the things that Heidi's stepdad talks about in the tour and it was the best thing I ever did. He is SO knowledgeable and passionate and it's so beautiful to watch. He reminds me of my dad in a lot of ways, and I found myself getting really emotional as he spoke about the berries shared with blackbirds and the composting system he's developed. Thank you for sharing this journey/part of your life with all of us < 3

I started working on an organic Farm this year which focuses on solidaric food sharing and farming, and it has changed my life and love for this world so much. Just the pure acceptance of the seed being planted into dark soil and us honoring its service by caring for its health and growth is so abundant. When i come home with arms full of veggies that i helped grow, my heart is ready to pour over from all the joy this wonderful world has to offer. So keep digging, get your hands dirty and your soul clean, share wisely with the birds and give compassionetly. I really want to know how people financially support lifestyles like this. They have to have money, right? How do they make an income like this and own so much land? And how do you afford this nomadic lifestyle? This is how i want to live but i dont think I’ll ever have the money for it.

I just want to say that I started to watch your videos almost 2 years ago now, and I always felt better and more inspired after each of them. I also begin to realize how important it is to appreciate little things in everyday life and be in connection to nature more. as an agriculture science student i really loved this episode!! John really put all the things in a single word "FEAR' and i very much agree with it ppl dont care now but most probably there will be food scarcity worse than anyone could have ever imagined approx by 2050 .... forest gardening should become important before all this happens!! if we dont want that to happen... only farmers or us agriculturists alone could never conquer this if not everybody is willing to do the same...

I wasn't actually expecting him to answer fear as to why John created his forest garden. I cannot agree more about what he said regarding our food production being unsustainable. I can see grocery stores being emptied and not restocked for months. Local food shops are closing too which saddens me a lot. If I have a pot of land, I will definitely do the same. Damn ! John was IN ! I've learned more about the soil and compost in just a few minutes than in the rest of my life (and I'm in my 40's) ! Great that you got to live with such a knowledgeable man and his family and land. No wonder you fell so hard in love with forest gardening. If you want to start one such community, it'd be a real pleasure to pay you a visit. Where would you see yourself doing it ? Is it even possible in Canada, with the subzero temperatures ? And yes, absolutely agreed about enjoying all the little things (les petits riens, comme on les appelle en Français) in life. Glad you found a goal in yours throughout your odyssey. That's the beauty of long world travels, you see life from so many more perspectives that make you look at life from so many different angles and help shape a much more grounded and holistic view on life. You're already a wonderful specimen of a human being now in your young 25 self, and I can't wait to see how magnificently you'll blossom later on in your life.
