I did it Paddy. I pulled the plug on two Thailand you-tubers that I was a member, I will not say who but they packed up and went back to America because they were bored with the lock downs. I'm ignoring those vloggers, as well. Not only do their videos always last more than 30 minutes as they walk around the grocery store or sit on their front porch talking about nothing of substance, but now they're doing it in my home country of America. Boring as hell.

I just LOVE Lampang! It was recommended to me by several people, so one day (on a whim) I hopped the train from Chiang Mai. Picked a random hotel and just stayed there for a few days. Experienced the night market and took a ride on one of the horse/carriages and live streamed on FB for an hour. Hired a songtaew driver for a few hours. He couldn't speak a word of English, but stopped at every small little temple around town. Loads of fun. I cannot wait to get back to Lampang again! Thanks for filming!

Morning market part brings tears to me. My great grand mother was a market woman who sold finger roots at that market 30 years ago. We planted those roots at our home and dug them in early of morning before we went to the market.She passed away when i was 11 and I moved to ChiangMai when i was 13. Thank you for visiting Lampang. In norh of thailand Lampang is full of old people because youngs go to Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai or to south for more opportunities. So Lampang still looks like 20-30 years ago. Slow and peaceful good for retirement but no high salary jobs for young people.

There is an archeological site where they discovered the fossil of a Homo Erectus dated between 0.5 & 1 million years with some stone tools. The fossil was called Lampang Man, an equivalence to Peking and Java Men. The site is in the Ko Kha district of Lanpang.

I visited Lampang and that temple last November. I went very early in the morning and I was the only person up there. Really amazing and beautiful and it had a mystique feel because low clouds were creeping over the mountain ridge

What is one of the most noteworthy things about Lampang is that for years it was the heart of the teakwood industry, and many of the buildings in downtown Lampang are constructed using teakwood in a northern Thai style. It gives it that very quaint and rustic look and feel. And a very nice thing about Lampang, is virtually no tourists. You get a real look and feel of northern Thailand.

Agree but sadly I have my doubts. Once a motorbike rental starts and a few English menus kiss Lampang city goodbye. So far it has been lucky as 99.99999% of foreigners both tourists and expats all go to the same BORING dump holes over and over again.

Serious question Paddy! How have you managed to travel through dark red zones provinces without quarantining? I’m sure like myself there are literally thousands of expats wanting like myself to travel around but being told quarantining is an issue. Don't know if you ever visited the night-market in Lamai on Koh Samui? They have it every monday night. Well maby not now because of covid? I can highly recomend it if you go back. Would be interesting to see who prefers Northern Thailand compared to the South. I've travelled mainly in the South and think it is beautiful, hard to go past those fantastic beaches, however there is something quite fascinating with the North. Dear Paddy:You're such a conscious man smelling the noodle bow before eating.There are sometimes occasions that you may find some fish fermented ingredient liked Pala probably mixed on that plate.

Northern Thailand is definitely my favorite area. The southern islands have been tainted by tourism and the prices (in normal times) have become ridiculous (Let's not even mention the outrageous cost of transportation on Phuket & Koh Samui perpetrated by the taxi mafia). It's a shame! I used to travel to Phuket a lot back in the late 80's and 90's. No interest now. Thanks

That weird long thingy in your Yen Ta Fou is...squid. But depend on the recipe, you might find the jelly fish in Yen Ta Fou soup as well.

oh, yes, that temple I still miss ... but see the sign road 1035 and Wang Nuea tell me how to get there from this side thanks, and good luck so now I see will do Mae Hong Son, and then down the 108 via KhunYuam and Mae Sariang (border) Mae Sot (105), as voa 12 Tak goes there, that only road in the north I have never used yet. I am jealous now ... haha stay careful -
