I think what's funny is when people (including me) say, "I want Diamond/Master/GM/Challenger" in this game, they really don't understand what that actually looks like. Yes, you can watch streams, but that's only the physical micro you see. You don't see/hear everything that is constantly happening in that player's brain. The higher you go, the more intense brain energy and mental APM you need to be at THAT elo.
@supremebohnenstange4102

His question at 37:30 is actually a good primer for why a LOT of people don't climb. He's essentially asking how to be more contentious during gameplay because he has a tendency to autopilot, and the short answer is that he needs to get more serious about improving if he wants to improve. Neither NEACE nor the thousands of coaching videos, tutorials, guides, proplay breakdowns, or videos of his own game that he can review with those resources at his hands are new. That tendency to autopilot and "go with the flow" comes from a lack of focus(more specifically not knowing what to focus on in game). It's why 90% of Gold and below games turn into chicken runs after the first tower drops. Those players know farming and keeping your gold up is important but they don't know their champion's strengths, their enemy champions weakness, how to push a lead, how to set up for objectives, when to pursue and when not to, how to push a lead and keep pressure while not overextending, etc. So they end up building an early lead from their opponent making mistakes, but everyone runs around aram-ing not doing anything while that lead gets mitigated and vanishes. So how to avoid autopiloting? You need to think about the game and care about improving, study your wins and losses and ask yourself (after gaining insight from videos like this that break down how to play) what could I have done better? Should I have been more aggressive? Could I have have traded better there? How? What was i focusing on after this objective was taken? What items did I have, were they good against the threats on the enemy team? If i was a tank did I cover and peel for my DPS? If I was DPS did I wait for my team to engage then follow up at a safe range? How am i using my abilities? My ultimates? Always be asking yourself these questions and get a sense for what you need to do to take objectives and push the game forward. When you need to play defensively and how to manage minion waves. If that all sounds like a lot of tedious work and you just wanna play to relax and have fun, then maybe climbing isn't for you and you'd have more fun in normals or ARAM and that's perfectly fine! It's a stressful as heck game and can be very tilting so for many that is the most fun way to play it. But if you want to get serious about climbing and start having an active thought process in game then you need to practice that. Make it a habit and it will come more naturally. Autopiloting and not making a serious effort to learn what you're doing wrong, how to study what you can improve on, or defaulting to moving without intention is like being a hamster on a hamster wheel thinking that running faster on the wheel will get you anywhere forward.

I love Neace's explanations in this video. He vulgarizes the concepts spot on, for example, when the counter team has a baron and is pushing, he is adamant about needing to survive and simply clear waves. That, in itself, in low elo, can be a game changer as an adc I think. If he could dumb it down like that on every major aspect of the game, every watcher would climb I think. I've learned a ton as a low elo myself.

Needed content for this game is a true zero to hero series. I watch TONS of your videos but I feel like there is something missing that I needed to know/practice/do before I get to that. Like your mental APM videos. There is so much there but in my games I am still trying to last hit consistently and remember to watch the minimap. What is the order of skills that a new player should work on?
@ChatterNet
@ChatterNet 3 года назад
Getting used to checking minimap between moves and plays, ward placement and vision control/red wards, knowing how to farm and last hit, farm and objective control/mid to late play making without wasting time or overthinking. These are key, imo
@ZeedDesign
@ZeedDesign 3 года назад
Someone might disagree but i think the key is building habits. A good player is not a good player because he constantly thinks about looking at map, CS, trading rules, tethering, jungle positioning, prediction of skillshots etc. I think a lot of this stuff has become habit so they can focus on only some things at a time. Imagine if you didnt have to pay attention to minion health to CS. Oh how trading would become easy right? You would have to only think about that! I think pros actually work like that. We (me and you) have to use like 20% of our brain just to cs, they only need 5% because they got so proficient in that regard that it doesnt involve a challenge anymore.
@proudhellene5874
@proudhellene5874 3 года назад

@@ZeedDesign If you see the video of that Riven losing the game for kills at one point he asks why should he do scuddle when neace told him to. I used to be like that but now whenever I see an objective up I immediately do it cause of habit
@ChatterNet
@ChatterNet 3 года назад
@@ZeedDesign I mean the majority of what I pointed out was habit building in general. One of the big things NEACE points out is how important this stuff is because if you're not doing this then you can come across situations in low ELO where you are too far pushed up and end up getting ganked or you go into a fight or area without proper information All in all, while you could say this is a habit someone could build over time, especially checking mini, it's surprisingly an aspect of gaming in lower ELO that's often forgotten or overlooked at just how important it is and is the cause for a lot of confusion and frustration early in the ladder climb.

@@JadeSchneiderr Yep, tethering is a very advanced skill since you need to know the range of every skill shot in the game, which is very difficult. I don't get Seraphine R at all since she's so new. Also, baiting out skill shots which is more of a mind game once you become even better at tethering.
@formdoggie5
@formdoggie5 3 года назад
The key is to not dodge the baby cage. You run where they can throw it, give zero fucks, don't panic, q them in the face, and then run them down. After you do it 2-3 times they realize "oh fuck its my only escape ability and I cannot outrun this bitch" and stop spamming it in lane, which basically stops all of Veigars lane pressure. Literally every missed cage after level 3 or 4ish should be death for Veigar or Veigar being forced to back. Its the meteor you dodge. Not the baby cage. The Q you can facetank and out heal with vamp. Veigar does more damage than you--you have more dps. Dont give him the short in n out trades he wants.

Reasoning, the majority of your veiwers are not plat and diamond and plat and diamond know the fundementals better than silver and gold. Thus these lower ello games relate more to your actual viewers. Not sure what my rank is personally. Haven't played ranked since season 4. I just don't enjoy how toxic people are there. @Neace Not sure this is great advice/answer to the question asked: "How do I stop tunneling" but... I found for me the answer was "smurfing." Now i'm not talking Challenger player smurfing bronze type smurfing... I just mean create a new account & practice in norms. The reason I suggest smurfing is because the match-ups will be 1000x easier & games 1000x slower which will allow you to practice the area's you need to practice: Camera Control, CSing, Roaming, Timers, ect... Since you're "smurfing" you lose the "I want to win" stress & ultimately this helped me HUGE. Been playing for 2 months & close to hitting Gold 5 :)
@athirson1000
@athirson1000 3 года назад
I'd vouch for that, I've done the same thing. The only thing that I'd add though is keeping one or two accs leveled (30+), so even in norms you face higher level enemies and get ur bottom smacked every now and then, further improving when facing adversities such as unfair pre-mades and more uphill battles.
@suhdoekin8998
@suhdoekin8998 3 года назад
Agreed! I find level 10-30 is a great for practicing. Have the mind-set you're SOULY here to focus on practicing which ultimately will lead to more wins once getting better but even in the games you're losing during those smurf games practice leading your team (shot calling) to attempt turning the game around. Ultimately... Like Neace said: "What's your goal?" That goal will CONSTANTLY evolve. My goal this season was to hit Silver! Now i'm slowly approaching Gold! If I don't hit Gold, that'll be my goal next season :) Once you have that goal in mind it's simply identifying how to get there & practice, practice, PRACTICE :)

Its very true, thats what i really like about Neace good player but so honest aswell. As a mid laner myself, adc is defently the hardest role.Mechanical very demaning and aswell macro demanding. 1 mistep and that can be it. Bot its a refreshing role and fun, so people shouldnt discouraged to play it. Just know its very hard role rank up on. If you practise doe, like attack move and know how to read roamers, good at outplaying and making proeactive plays against enemy bot aswell help your jungler sometimes. Think you can go far. At bot, its where "bot gap" really is true.

So I'm new to this game but my instincts are spot on when it comes to getting value elsewhere when my teammates are lambs to the slaughter like you said. I can't keep them from rushing as fast as they can to fight enemies 4 lvls ahead of them and then clicking surrender when they die. I suppose I need to rank up more to find people with more strategic minds.

I really like Neace's coaching. Im a main adc, usually play jinx or kaisa, got into samira and mf lately as well though. I used to have steady performance throughout older seasons, but come season 9/10 it dropped considerably. Its not steady anymore its like i coss a coin at the start of every game and in one game i suck super hard, and in the other i carry super hard. Its to the point that i get flamed unimaginably hard for playing bad or people want to duo with me. Also, enemies flame & blame me for surfing thereby ruining the game. Its probably also related to comp as well as my performance like calls i make/follow and positioning etc. in any case sometimes i just walk out of landing phase like 5/0 and then a 4/0 or even superfed zed shits on me xD

Well... Let me tell you a story of me playing Blitzcrank/Draven against Morgana/Jhin today in high gold elo. So we managed to hit level 2 first which was huge, but they anticipated it decently and I missed my hook as a result. Draven was an idiot and got rooted by a Morgana Q shortly after, but instead of disengaging and waiting for my hook to come back up, he goes ALL IN on this Morgana. He blows heal AND flash, and because we had invaded at the start of the game, I was without flash because I had flashed in order to hook Jhin, who also had no flash as a result. However, since I missed my hook I had disengaged and was sitting in the back, just chilling, because there was just no play to make at that point in time, so when Draven went complete ham at that point, I'm just at my wit's end because I can do NOTHING. He's against a Morgana/Jhin, a very strong lane, I have no flash to follow him since I'm Blitz who is melee and is standing pretty far back in the lane since I got no cooldowns up, and he decides to chase them all the way to their tower lul. Did the guy have balls? Sure. Very typical Draven balls, except all he ended up doing was hard int where he not only died, but he also killed me, since I panicked and naively attempted to help Draven out by walking into Jhin/Morgana except I have no flash, so there was no way I could escape. Of course, he was consistently caught in Morgana Q during the entire laning phase and he called it a support diff. Right. With that said, since he was extremely cocky he did manage to come back through some lucky kills later on in the game and ended up soft carrying (our actual carry was Vel'koz), but it's a good example of what happens when you are over-confident as well. If he had just *thought* a little bit about that all-in, he would have realized it was a terrible idea when I was without flash and with my hook on CD. Not sure what elo you are in right now, but one thing you will know that once you hit high gold/plat MMR and above, adcs often have a lot of confidence in their skills but they just don't think things through and do derpy shit like the Draven I just mentioned. Since they are so confident in their skills, they may also end up hard inting like this Draven, because they think they got the micro to get through the situation even when they lack crucial abilities to do so. The main difference between these adc players and diamond and above is literally just that they are confident but also understand their limitations and when the time for aggression is right or not. But I agree that in silver and below, adcs lack confidence and don't know how to be aggressive at all. The exception probably being Draven/Jhin players because their gameplay is all about early aggression, but in their case, since both champions are actually very mechanically difficult to play, just not executed right at all.

I can’t imagine playing or maining add role until your acc High elo that shit is just torture even if you never feed in Lane and CS well you just pray their mid or top doesn’t become thanos at 15 min. most coinflip role actually. only games where adc’s carry are when enemy team are behind or can never dive the adc which is pretty fucking rare

I think part of the reason he's confused about why he needs to dance in the cage is because veigar will always cast his cage in a position where you can't escape it without flash, but he's not realizing this.
