Since It's air cooled and the second cylinder sits behind the first one it will probably suffer overheating though. Not enough air-flow for the second cylinder I fear.
@@EbonyPope doesnt have to be made from air cooled honda type engines... yes. thats the issue they do have. rear cylinder gets toasty. water cooling can fix that. comeon, the point of this channel is he straps existing engines together and they run. they arent intended for production...
Rotax made the bmw f800 parallel twin adjustable. It figure a third rod for vibration dampening and is set up at 360° on the f800 line but 315° on the Husqvarna nuda 900 twin. Also the two bike really works differently. The BMW have multi-plexing, the nuda not.
@@4sstylz f800 is not adjustable like engine in the video because you need replace crank and camshaft to change it from 360° to 315°. If you change those parts you can modify every pallalel twin to any offset between firing. Engine in the video is adjustable because you can change angle between cylinders without any additional parts, its just unscrewing some parts and adjusting them to work differently.
To be fair two strokes are 65% dark magic, 20% resonance and 5% of autism. Once you figure out that you never actually learned anything about the inner workings of them besides the name of the parts and surrender to impulse, you'll be able to build anything 😂
This is the first southeast Asian channel I've seen that didn't involve pulling the item to be restored out of a muddy swamp, only to wash it and do some minor cosmetic work to pronounce it 'restored'. This man has the machining skills and ability to actually DO something that isn't clickbait. Why those 'other channels' have millions of subscribers and this man only half a million doesn't make sense but...what in life today actually does??🤣
Absolutely agreed, his engineering skills are mind boggling. He has a good set of tools & machinery at though, to work all that out & manufacture something no one else does is extraordinary. Bravo I say
i see it as he is a mechanic, maybe made a few oddballs in his spare time of an evening. same deal as millyard. he was doing it well before YT... a hobby... someones like... "hey, maybe i film it next time?" no real intention of going big, just having fun doing what he does... whereas the fake "restoration" video is rehearsed and staged from every step of the way. a team of people, every shot carefully thought out... then the fake accounts clicking "like and subscribe"... how many accounts can a bot make in a day, how many upvotes and views? once you hit that magic number, go monetary, flood the recommendations list with smoothly edited rubbish content... playing the algorithm... my god YT is a strange place when you sign out of everything and erase cookies, etc... its pretty bad when you dont! ever tried filming yourself doing anything? i have lots of little things i _could_ document and post... but it never works out that way. i was modifying a fireplace i made yesterday... hmmm... fire the camera up and document? so, first step... mark this line on a pipe with this here "liquid paper" pen... it doesnt work. fine. sidetrack, document getting a tin of thinners, clearing the tip, back to marking line... battery goes flat. sigh. toss camera aside, make fireplace. done. undocumented but done. quite warm :)
Thank you for finally making the Honda 100 cc twin that should have been made after the Yamaha Twinjet 100 came out back in '66. Everyone was expecting a twin 100 but Honda brought out a single instead. Now we know what could have been. Thanks again.
The 360 works better because you have a combined intake, in this configuration there is no overlap between the two cylinders and the carburetor is able to deliver fuel and air better.
@@adrian55051 With 180 degree timing the out of balance forces with the pistons halfway down the bore would add, increasing vibration. 360 degree could give perfect primary balance if the crankshaft counterweights are adjusted, as helixworld says.
Some people just have excellent spatial reasoning skills and don't need any fancy CNC machines. I've ground a rod for an 0.010 over bearing by hand with a file and crocus cloth and the car is still going strong 14 years later. I'm definitely impressed by LeDan's work but it is also something I could do myself if I were determined to do so. I've been toying with the idea of making a pushrod boxer twin using aircraft engine cylinders. Would probably use Lycoming O-235 parts for a displacement of 117.5 ci, along with a blower, and put it in a drag bike to go up against Harleys.
great examples of splitting fires for the same volume.. and showing a derivative that is balanced and unequal. More than ingenuity, this video has a lesson.
Well, now the front cylinder cam chain tensioner is on the wrong side (tension side) since the additional crank is rotating backwards. In addition to that, the rear cylinder and its head lack cooling and the front cylinder has intake and exhaust ports reversed and those are not fully equal either. So this is a nice construction, but has some issues.
pretty sure at this point the front oil pump is pumping in the wrong direction aswell it seems very few people have noticed these points im gonna say the balancing of this engine isnt great aswell we are looking at some moto gp tech with the counter rotating crank this will help with keeping the front wheel on the ground lol
@@stuartlawson9119he did something with the oil pump and I thought he might have reversed the flow direction by changing the hole positions...however i did not check that
This is the guy that can do what I have been thinking of for 25 years. A hydraulic pump that emulate the 3 phase characteristics of electrical power. If there are three pistons at 120 degree in between, it would theoretically be an even flow and pressure of oil. The same way three phase electricity works.
My God, you sir are nothing short of a genius! Where in the heck did you learn this stuff? And how do you keep it all in one head? Wish I had 10% of your skills.
You are a true mechanical,, ✨🌟✨ Could you fit one more,, 😆. I looooove the pull from 3 cylinder, 120 degree. 🥰 Nice to see that you have invested in a sandblaster box,, 👍👍. Fresh blasted aluminium with clearcoat on top looks very nice. Thank you for sharing,, 💖🙏💖
Honestly one of the coolest channels out there, I love this stuff and its really interesting to see someone push the limits of whats possible. Can we see a 6 cylinder engine made from those little SOHC honda engines next? A DIY Honda RC166 would epic!!!
theres one small thing i all of a sudden noticed : the cam chain tensioner on one side is on the slack side of the chain and the other is on the side the chain gets pulled on by the crank , the cranks are running in opposite directions and the tensioners are both on the same side this might trow the cam timing off a little bit on the one cilinder , it can be fixed if he makes the lever so the roller sits across from where its now think the 270 ran smoothest sounded the best allso wonder if the cam can rotate backwards too think he needs to make a reverse rotation cam too or run both cams of the same crank
I'm pretty sure to make an engine run backwards you need to have a reverse grind on the cam. Pretty often in marine applications you'll have twin engines and you want one to spin counter clockwise. I'm also wondering what he did there. Turn the cam 180 end for end?
@@heliarche yeah thats wat i figured , on the other hand ints a single cilinder with two lobes i think if he drives it from one crank it shouldnt matter as they both wiuld run the same direction
