i always add hoisin sauce. Never gonna eat pho without it in my soup lol and also as side dip for the meat. And fish sauce if the broth is too bland. And for the umami flavour.

Dude, I'm not Vietnamese but I was able to totally relate to this video. I'm from Louisiana and my mom always wants me to cook her a gumbo on any special occasion that I'm cooking for her and its basically the same, a slow cooked comfort food that you can actually taste the love through if someone cooks it masterfully. I could feel your pride even though you didn't show it when your mom said that your Pho didn't need anything added to it and that it was perfect they way it was, because I feel that same damn thing when my mom says that. Kudos to you buddy and your mom is a sweet lady keep appreciating her.

Man, I'm from Louisiana too, but my mom isn't around. One time I made a Jambalaya for a group of older drunk Cajun ladies who were in town for Mardi Gras and one of them took a bite, looked me dead in the eye and said "giiirrrlll, this is the best jambalaya I have ever tasted." It might have just been the liquor, but I'll carry that around with me for the rest of my life. She ate the whole bowl and I thought I was going to just bust with pride. Anyway, I know this is an old comment, but Gumbo season is almost here. I hope you and your little mama have a big bowl for me!
